Cheryl is simply brilliant! I can't believe it took me so long to find the help I needed and right in my own neighborhood!

We are with Facey and have been seeing Dr. Offengerger for the past 4 years. We never had any sort of game plan or anything progressive in regard to my son's food allergies. Every year he would order blood tests and just tell us to continue to avoid anything containing these foods. For my son's environmental allergies we were told to keep him on Claritin every day incessantly and if Claritin stopped working to switch to Zyrtec and if Zyrtec stopped working to switch back. When my son had a single asthmatic episode, he prescribed my son an aggressive daily medicine that can cause behavioral changes in children. We just felt like there was more we could be doing and we felt we weren't getting any answers. What we were getting was prescriptions. After another years visit with no progressive treatment plan we asked for a second opinion and were sent to his AMAZING. doctor. When we saw Dr. Shapiro, we were told that even though my son had a second asthmatic episode, his asthma is still considered well controlled. We were told that my son absolutely did NOT need to be prescribed the risky asthma medicine(Thank God that after doing research we never gave it to him anyway) and he was scheduled for a food challenge in office to see how his body would tolerate baked goods containing dairy and a second test to try eggs. Also, he does NOT need to be on a daily antihistamine like Claritin or Zyrtec, only as needed. Today our son passed his egg challenge and yesterday he passed his food challenge for baked dairy!! He can eat eggs and dairy in baked goods!!! This is life-changing for our family. It puts my son on a less restrictive diet and normalizes his life in so many ways! As far as dairy goes- when we go to birthday parties, he can have cupcakes; when we go out to dinner and his cousins are having desert, he can order a treat, too!!! And we will now be able to have pulled pork on King's Hawaiian buns YUM!! And I plan on eating eggs for breakfast every single day for the next month starting with a BIG plate of French toast when we get home! I just wanted to share in case any other mommas are feeling stuck in a rut and to encourage every momma to go with your gut and always ask for that second opinion!!!

Yes, those life-threatening allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, and eggs. We waited and waited (over a decade!) for scientists to figure out a treatment for food allergies. We suffered through those years of avoidance, and fear, and frantic calls from school, and ambulances, and hospitals. Constantly living in fear that one bite of the wrong thing could end his life in moments. Then researchers at Duke and Stanford did a bunch of clinical trials and figured out a way to perform oral immunotherapy (OIT) to desensitize people to their food allergies. We were lucky to be in a 3 year Stanford clinical trial for peanut allergy a few years ago and through that study, met Whitney Block. She was our son's Nurse Practitioner at Stanford and basically oversaw his three-year clinical trial. After he finished the clinical trial for peanut, she then supervised his desensitization to ALL of his other allergens. All at one time! He was eating small amounts of those allergens within weeks of finishing his peanut clinical trial. He reached his maintenance dose for all of his allergens less than 6 months from the time we started. When we started the 3yr Stanford clinical trial, our son's goal was to eat a donut. You read that right, my 12 year old's ultimate goal in life (at age 12) was to eat a Krispy Kreme donut. He had his first Krispy Kreme donut on his 15th birthday. (insert happy tears) Through Whitney's diligence, oversight, knowledge, and kindness, he now eats a donuts wherever and whenever he wants (in moderation! - I'm still a mom!) He's almost 17 now and those years of fear are a not too distant memory. He orders in restaurants without fear and without consulting chefs on ingredients. He travels the world, and eats confidently in foreign countries where he doesn't speak the language. He goes on school experiential education trips without having to consider what they will have on the menus. This week he is leaving on a 10 day trip with a bunch of other 16 year old boys, and while I worry about other stuff with that, I don't worry about him eating! He lives his life WITHOUT FEAR of a food allergic reaction! All because of Whitney Block (and those researchers). He has a daily maintenance dose to keep up his desensitization - I watch him eat peanut, cashew, walnut, sesame, and egg EVERY DAY. It really works. It's absolutely life-changing. I cannot recommend NAC highly enough. We are so fortunate here in Los Angeles that she has recently opened an office in Burbank on Fridays. She saw the need for people in Los Angeles to receive OIT and stop living in fear and has stepped up to fill that void. We flew to Stanford for this treatment and now it's available HERE! The office staff is knowledgeable, professional and friendly. They are fantastic at reassuring parents on their fears, because let's face it, this is scary stuff. There is nothing they can't handle. Go see her. Honestly, she changed our lives.

From my first appointment, Dr. Khadavi was different. He listened carefully and took my symptoms seriously. He didn't jump to conclusions or dismiss me as others had. His approach was thoughtful and methodical, first ruling causes out, identifying the underlying issue, and then creating a treatment plan. And if one step didn't work, he had a Plan B ready. I really feel that he was genuinely invested in helping me get better. Dr. Khadavi's treatment plan almost completely resolved my stomach issues in less than six months. For the first time in years, I feel stable and able to live my life without constantly monitoring every bite of food or in fear of flare-ups. He also reviewed my asthma medication and noticed I had been taking a sub-clinical dose of my preventative inhaler. With his guidance, my asthma is now in remission and I've been able to stop using my preventative inhaler. I can honestly say that Dr. Khadavi changed my life. I feel so lucky to have found him and cannot recommend him highly enough.

After my son had a very severe allergic reaction to something, our pediatrician suggested Dr…read more Schulte to meet with. She was right in saying there would be some wait before we could get an appointment (it ended up being over 3 weeks before they had an opening) but it was worth the wait. We were really worried that it was a food based allergic reaction and therefore would have to be very careful with everything my son ate, but after describing the symptoms and the circumstances from which the reaction happened, she very quickly said that she was confident that it wasn't food based and that it had to be environmental. So, we ran an allergy test for environmental things and sure enough his back lit up. Turns out he was just unlucky and most likely had a few different allergens enter his body at once. We were so relieved that she was so confident and explained why she didn't think it was food and how she had been seeing a lot of similar cases around this time of year which made it clear to her that my son's case was the same. We left the office being so happy to know that we didn't have to worry about what he was eating and that should something like this happen in the future and instead just need to have some over the counter allergy medication to treat anything. I don't know how often we will need to return to see Dr. Schulte, maybe if one of our other 2 kids need an allergy test/consultation, but I will absolutely recommend her to anyone who is looking for a pediatric allergist doctor. She was great and, like I said before, worth the wait.

The shots had absolutely no effect on my allergies just my wallet. I was shocked because this office was making a killing off of my insurance, which at the time covered 90% of the visits so around $100 at my cost per shot two per week starting with more) . I was honestly shocked she was even trying to collect The remaining balance considering how much she was getting from my insurance. However one day in the treatment room they rudely said they would not continue giving me my injections unless the bill was paid in full her attitude is completely changed. . In addition I once made an emergency call for an emergency medication and she refused to refill it. She also ordered unnecessary expensive blood work She then referred me to a horrible internist that she had "heard about"
