My wife and I have been coming to Nativo since 2023, and yet even through various changes to their menu, service, and setup, our love for this place hasn't changed. We've made lifelong friends here, celebrated our engagement here, spent many a random Tuesday evening at our favorite couples' table here. It's simply one of our favorite spots in all of LA, let alone Highland Park. Our absolute favorites off the menu are their tacos de papa, house guac, mushroom tacos, and fish tacos. Cocktail-wise, we never pass up a chance to get their margaritas or a Tom Collins. I once brought a couple friends who both claimed their tequila sodas were the best they'd ever had! If you're out and about in HP or looking for a killer cocktail, please don't look further than Nativo. My friends and I came to Nativo on a Saturday to check out the DJ, and initially, everything was a great vibe. Unfortunately, our experience changed completely when we ordered drinks from the taller male bartender with a beard, by the name of Jay. Because it was obviously loud in the venue with the music, my friend repeated our order to make sure it was heard correctly. Instead of simply acknowledging the order, the bartender responded sarcastically, "I can hear you, I have ears." We were genuinely taken aback by how unnecessarily rude that response was. When he handed us our drinks, he then added, "Don't break the glasses." At that point, the interaction felt straight up hostile and disrespectful. Almost like we were not welcome there. We had been polite patrons and were tipping well, so there was absolutely no reason for us to be spoken to that way. We ended up leaving shortly afterward because the interaction completely changed the experience for us. I can't say enough good things about this place!! Absolutely one of my favorite spots in LA. One night my family and I were looking for Mexican food for dinner. We first headed to a local chain restaurant, where we sat and waited for 20 minutes, and after being completely ignored, we bailed. We drove around looking for an alternative, while I searched Yelp for options. I came across Nativo, and we decided to check it out. We wandered in on a Tuesday night, a family of 6, and were seated outside. The tables and chairs are a bit low - more of a lounge than a dinner feeling, but the ambiance and decor are absolutely stunning! They brought us water in a gorgeous glass carafe, while we waited for our food. We ordered a bunch of small dishes, and lots of tacos, to share. Everything was amazing, with the chorizo potato tacos being my clear favorite! The adults in our group all ordered different cocktails, and each one was better than the next! On top of amazing food and drinks, our server was the absolute nicest, sweetest person, and gave us exceptional service. I'm could not possibly say ENOUGH good things about my experience with Nativo in planning our Bachelorette Dinner. I worked with Veronica, the Event Coordinator, Marlene, the Beverage Director, on the plans ahead of time, and they were everything you want in coordinating something like this - helpful, gracious, communicative, and clear! Nativo has INCREDIBLE options for parties, and they have thought of everything! I also really appreciated the transparent costs on everything and how well it was laid out for us. I swear, I've been bragging about my planning experience with this place with anyone who will listen. Then, the night of our actual event was just perfect! We had a great room space all to ourselves, a dedicated server, and they even got the heater working for us on our request! The chips and guacamole here are to die for. When I asked about my missing dinner and hour later, they said they lost the order. This is our third time to Nativo but it's been a while since we returned. There's no waiting service anymore, so you have to order at the bar. If you sit at the patio like we did, you have to go inside to order. And while that's not the worst thing, it takes more time. The drinks are awesome and some are elaborate thus take some time to prepare. The food portions are bigger which is nice. We had an assortment of tacos. We sat outside on a really nice night and got to enjoy the really beautiful outside deck with their chips and salsa. Ordered some tacos and esquite and i believe a mulita.
