The horse was being very patient and obedient just standing there and the woman (with long blonde hair in a braid) seemed to be taking out her bad mood out on the horse. She yelled with a nasty tone saying "back up!" God forbid the horse wasn't standing in the exact spot an an inch from where she then| moved it to. My family had horses, I know how you're supposed to talk to them. Hurt my heart hearing the way she spoke to this horse. This horse was not being difficult in any way. It is a privilege and an honor to be able to work with horses. I did not get the impression this person understands that. Even if you are having a bad day, you never take it out on an animal. Maybe i'm overly sensitive when it comes to all animals, especially dogs and horses but this is just the feeling I got when I witnessed this today. I hope that this is not an every day occurrence with the horses in their care.

There are so many riding stables that are much closer to my home, but I prefer to ride here (it's one of long islands best kept secrets) because everyone is so nice and there's no attitude or drama (unlike other stables on the island). I always feel like I have the ring to myself which is hard to find on the weekends. This farm is not massive but that's one of the things I like about it. Michelle treats all the horses like her personal pets and takes such good care of them. All of the horses I've ridden were amazing. Beau is by far my favorite horse but Kellie and Kiowa are also great. My 9 year old son used to take lessons on Kiowa and Pistol Pete. Michelle was great with him. Even though he wasn't really into riding she was so patient. Now he just loves to hang out at the farm while I ride on Saturdays. I've watched Michelle teach many children's lessons and noticed she explains riding in a way that children understand. With me (an adult that returned to the ring after a 30 year hiatus) she's soft spoken and provides quality feedback. She's certainly not one of those trainers that yells at you. If you're looking for a laid back down to earth stables with quality horses and a great trainer then look no further. You'll find your home here.

She has a sixth sense when it comes to what each horse and rider needs in the moment and tailors the lesson accordingly. Her extensive dressage background ensures that her students are equipped with a solid foundation in flatwork that translates beautifully over fences. In 5 months of consistent lessons, Sally completely boosted my confidence and got me back to jumping small courses after a long break. Sadly I'm not able to ride very often these days, but whenever I do get a chance to take a lesson with Sally, she is always able to meet me wherever I am that day and I walk away feeling accomplished. She has taught me not just how to ride, but how to truly connect with a horse in a way I never have before. Sally also has a lot of experience training horses, particularly thoroughbreds. I highly recommend her for all of your riding and training needs.
