We rolled up at 11:00 on the dot on a Saturday, and it's good we got there right when they opened because a huge group came right after us and took up almost all the tables in this cozy spot. The 26 year old owner, Tiara, took our orders, served us, and regularly checked in on us throughout the meal. We ordered mimosas, the chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits, and the Bailey's french toast. The food took about a half hour to come out, but you could tell it was made fresh and from scratch, so the wait is worth it. Tiara was constantly refilling our waters, so you didn't feel forgotten at all. The small space was maxed out quickly thanks to a large party of 20 that came in and quickly filled the bistro with laughter. Once the food came the conversation stopped as we all began scarfing down our home-cooked meals. Everything tasted phenomenal, and the five brunch dishes they offer are all quite affordable, costing just $10-12 each. This spot is brand new, so you can tell they are still working out some kinks and figuring out their best practices, so go in with a bit of patience and understanding, and you'll have a fantastic time. Thirst Bistro earned five stars because this was a stellar first showing for a new restaurant. This place could easily go from a hidden gem to a staple of the Northside brunch scene.

So the restaurant only gets 4 stars because of the food. Met…read moreup with some friends for brunch to support a black owned business. Here's the skinny: 1 Our drinks - were good. Considering the "pomegranate" mimosas were made with cran-pomegranate ocean spray juice. 2 our food - was AMAZING! Well seasoned, hot & fresh, and portioned well too! id gladly come a get a to go plate again soon. 3 the service - was NOT good. Our server seemed rushed the entire time. She forgot certain things we asked for and seemed not to be too familiar with the menu. At the end she collected half the parties checks at a time. And seemed a bit distracted. She was polite...but everything was a bit much. 4 atmosphere - average, the music was blasting & restaurant was small, making it hard to converse at the table.

Full disclosure, I was on the hunt for a "chill" hookah lounge. Given the limited information about…read moreHollywood Hookah online, I decided to give it a try anyway. The vibe: according to google the lounge opened at 10:00, but we were not let in until 10:35. Upon entry, you go downstairs and find a spot to sit. They have really cool murals of various figures on the wall and a cool neon sign. The music being played was good, but it was more of a club vibe than a hookah lounge. I came for the hookah, and the hookah girls were still getting ready. So we didn't get our hookah until 11:15 - and it was weak. The cost: It was $20 entrance free, plus $30 hookah, and $15 per drink. THIS IS NOT A HOOKAH LOUNGE, meaning the "hookah girls" come and sell you hookah, but there is nobody that changes the coals or addresses the poor hookah quality. The hookah's used are cheap $20 hookahs with disposable hoes. The hookah was weak. Granted, I've been to the Middle East and have had some awesome hookah to compare it to. You can find quality hookah in the states though (NYC, LA, PHX, Austin, etc), and it doesn't cost $30. I find that the quality of the hookah is really dependent on the hookah being used, the process of packing the tobacco, quality of tobacco, quality coals, and a quality hoes! With that being said, THIS IS NOT A HOOKAH LOUNGE. This is a club with good music, that happens to sell horrible hookah with gorgeous "hookah girls". I'd say that the place has potential, because the vibe is there. Invest in quality hookahs w/real hoes, train the hookah girls how to properly pack the hookah, figure out how to change the coals.

( They get a star cause zero is not an option, and they carded us ). The place was not pretty, and the function could have been described and organized a little better. The music was hit or miss ( DJ needs to regroup). The entire place needed resucitation, it had poor ventilation, and no one had information about anything. We went conquered and left! The end! The waiter/ bartender was upset & started to raise his voice at me as if it's my fault that I was told my replacement was coming, waited for nearly 30 minutes to only learn they ran out, so I waited for nothing. Another waiter had to calm him down. I didn't utter a word to him so I honestly dis not know what madw him act like that. They still made me pay for the dish & only comped the expresso martini.... definitely will not recommend this place nor come back. The staff really needs to work on their communication skills and customer service. I ordered the Pumpkin Spice expresso martini & was pretty good. I also ordered the duck confit dish because they ran out of the short rib dish. The duck confit dish was okay but was not remarkable. The Brussels sprouts needed salt. Duck was slightly dry. The ambiance honestly reminded me of a set of a Tubi movie. It's very spacious.

There is a small parking area on the side of the building so be prepared to find off street parking. I arrived and there was a large birthday party of 25 waiting to be seated. I was told that even though I made reservations it wasn't going to be honored due to the large party was about to be seated in the dining table area. I couldn't sit at the bar due to the person with me had a handicap and I didn't want to embarrass them. We left disappointed and our brunch idea crushed.
