All of these are gone now. But Palm Springs still has a Tinder Box, and along with a well stocked humidor, they have a good range of pipes, pipe accessories, and tobaccos. This is a rare and wonderful thing and I will support them as much as possible. They are also the best place in the Valley for cigars. Prices are high, but that's not their fault. California taxes all tobacco products indiscriminately, so while rightfully trying to drive people to not smoke cigarettes, they have also destroyed the market for premium cigars and pipe tobacco. I'm happy that the Tinder Box is still around, and right down the street. Give them some support if you can.

Rob was kind enough to explain the cigar smoking area and how he came about working there. He's really friendly and the lounge was beautiful and tranquil. I bought three and looked at my account tonight and they had charged me $101. I called assuming it was an innocent mistake and the person on the phone said "No, that's a cash deal. We charged you the correct amount." I would've accepted that for the BS excuse that it was had I not just been there last week and bought two for the advertised price. He told me to come in to talk to the owner on Thursday morning if I have a problem with it and I said, no the owner would be smart to call me since I'll be making it a point to show that he's illegally charging. So, we'll let the department of weights and measures and the local law enforcement sort it out instead of just refunding me the appropriate amount.
