We transferred to private reserves and lodges managed by "and Beyond" and spent 12 days at three different reserves and lodges on wonderful "game drives" where we saw all the wild animals we went to Africa to see, up close and personal. My…read morewife and I usually book travel ourselves, but for a big family trip with my parents, we ended up working with San Simeon Travel. They are AWFUL. Given the choice to book travel myself and cut off my pinky finger or work with these guys again, goodbye pinky finger. Whenever I have a question, I get snotty and argumentative answers from Alex. I get tons of calls from them asking for information they could have covered in one call. Maybe we got off on the wrong foot when they wanted to book my flights at a higher cost than I could find them online and I decided I'd rather book myself and pay less. But ever since then every conversation feels like a battle with someone who thinks they are too good for me, as opposed to a helpful call with a professional. They also told me that I couldn't take a flight home that left before noon because I wouldn't be able to get there from our cruise. So I called the cruise to confirm, and they said that I should be able to take any flight after 10am. So the travel agency was programming in an extra two hours of sitting in an airport. Honestly, theses guys are making everything worse, not better. I would pay more to NOT have to deal with this company ever again.

Our tour guide was an engaging storyteller and helped us imagine what life might have been like during the castle's heydey. The views are exquisite and that includes the architecture and artwork indoors. As documented in previous posts, the bathrooms are under renovation so you have to use porta potties outside the center. You cannot bring any food or drink on the bus or walking tour other than bottled water so be prepared to eat before or after your visit. When I accepted the certificate, I agreed to pay a processing fee (I think $19 a person) and taxes+fees to the cruise line (about $90 per person). You send in the form and processing fee, they respond back with optional dates for your cruise, and you choose one from there. Though the list is limited, there were many dates and options to choose from. We also chose to book trip insurance through them. We just got back from our cruise on the Carnival Liberty to Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas and it went just according to plan! If you follow PCT's process and read the fine print, they are great to work with.
