I took the Women's Basics course after moving to LA and it changed my life! I would sign all of my…read morefriends up for this class if I could. This course teaches essential skills for verbal de-escalation, boundary setting, and physical self-defense, but what really sets it apart is how those skills are ingrained through fully-adrenalized, full-force fight scenarios. That, and the fact that the IMPACT instructors are phenomenal. I'm always impressed by their attentiveness, innovative teaching techniques, and their emphasis on students' safety during physical confrontations. Since taking the Basics course, I've successfully used verbal de-escalation tools twice in real-life situations, including during a frightening incident when a muscular man ran straight at me and blocked my path while I was walking in my neighborhood. I've also applied the skills I've learned in the workplace and most other areas of life. It may sound hyperbolic, but the class really changed how I walk through the world. If you can't commit to the full Basics course, consider taking the Intro Class. It's a great place to start. IMPACT also offers an advanced course and a "Defense Against the Armed Assailant" course for those who have completed the Basics. I took both and highly recommend!

It's not like martial arts, there's not a ton of fancy tricks; it's accessible and practical skills..AND you get to fight an actual person. I didn't just learn skills to defend myself, I learned about what I was actually capable of. It changed my life! Can't recommend enough!

His teaching style is clear, hands-on, and practical, focusing on real-life situations to help us feel more confident and prepared. What I loved most is his supportive and encouraging approach--he truly wants every woman to feel strong and safe. I walked away not just with valuable self-defense skills, but also with a newfound sense of empowerment. Highly recommend his classes to anyone looking to build confidence and personal safety! I was the type of person to go into freeze mode and lock up during tough situations, after taking his class, I'm more confident that I will react more quickly with the skills I've acquired. Ladies, don't wait on this one. Take the 4-hour much needed class for every woman!

I'm very glad I did-this class started with something I'd never thought about before, a question about what you'd be willing to do if faced with a situation where you needed to defend yourself physically from an attacker. The question is important because it was followed by learning all the techniques for doing so, and they essentially consist of doing things to another human being that I hope I will never be faced with having to do, to say the least (but look out if you try to attack me!). I have seen changes in my daughters and myself already, for example my oldest told me about her new habit of what she now does when she enters a dark parking garage at night. Thank you, Elliott, for imparting such a wealth of safety information to us.

I have been taking the Women's Jiu Jitsu classes for the past 6 months with Master Chris, and I love it. Master Chris is a gifted teacher, and her classes are safe and focused. We do a lot of drills, and she has a lesson plan for every class. You are not allowed to roll until you get your first stripe as a white belt, and even after you start rolling, she watches everyone very closely and makes sure people are safe. She is one of the most thoughtful and considerate people that I've met in BJJ, but don't be fooled by her kind demeanor. She is a badass (7th Dan TKD Grandmaster, 1st(?) degree Black Belt in BJJ). I am lucky to be able to train with her. Lima is very family friendly, and the kids classes are popular. I wish I had started at a young age. I highly recommend training here. Parking is free and easy. There are plenty of classes offered throughout the week here and at their 2nd location in Harbor City.

She's now 7 and has her Blue Belt and because of her I decided to do Taekwondo for a bit myself but due to a change in my work schedule I ended up switching to the BJJ class with Master Ica who is also an extremely good and attentive teacher. Before I started coming here I was 200 pounds, miserable , and had no motivation for anything anymore but after a year of consistent hard work, I went from 200 pounds to 160, my physical and mental health is at its peak and I feel like I've entered a brand new prime. I feel the best I ever been now at age 30 than I ever had even in my early 20's!! All the Masters are very patient, humble and will treat you with respect and there is NO egos whatsoever amongst any of the students from both the Taekwondo and Jiu Jitsu side, Everyone is very welcoming which is a big plus because the last thing you'd want is to train in a place that gives off bad energy. Unfortunately my work schedule has became very unstable so I had to put a pause on my BJJ but my daughter is still able to make it to her classes and I'm very proud that she has her Blue Belt in Taekwondo and is now learning BJJ in an environment where I know she's in excellent hands. If you or your kids want to learn Taekwondo or BJJ then I highly recommend coming here, You'll be glad you did :)

I somehow stoped when I hurt my shoulder in one class and after that I was having other injuries one after the other and so I could not got back , but I wish I can. I still practice some of the things I learn. I have fond memories there and the aikido Japan trip. Althouh the facility is simple and small , one small restroom, 2 small change room ,sensei's office. is it sufficient. Which is why the 4 stars. I also learned kenjutsu there. Thier kids classes where pretty good.It geared toward learning how to not to get injured when falling etc , balance and some self defence aikido style, Speaking of balance, I have scoliosis and the training there helped with my balance and leg strength becuase one time I tried surfing for the first time in Hawaii and everytime I stand up I applied the things I learned and stood up and stayed in the board until I almost reach the shore, well... for a beginer wave that is. I miss it and the people.
