I can't believe these guys were in my local area and I had neve heard of them. They are an amazing organization with true passion for saving dogs from certain death and suffering. We adapted Roxie 10 months ago and she has been an amazing addition to our family. She was very traumatized from the time she spent in the puppy mill world and it has been a long hard road to get her to a happy place. But now she is and now she is giving back 10 fold. My wife and I have owned miniature dachshunds for a very long time and plan to continue to do so. We will however only get ours from National Mill Dog Rescue.

    Shy but adorable!

We found our sweet girl through this wonderful rescue. Very communicative team throughout the whole…read moreprocess and things moved quickly from the day we met her and fell in love to the day we took her home. The care and attention the team has is evident and they do a thorough home inspection and vetting process to make sure the dog goes to a safe and healthy home. I only have good things to say about Denver Dachsunds Rescue. Thank you for everything!

Long story short, I adopted my sweet girl back in December…read more DDRT picked her up from Denver Animal Control, where she was placed on a med hold. The paperwork specifically mentioned she needed a TECA surgery. When I asked the rescue about the dog's health they lied. Flat out said she was healthy with just a "different ear." No problem. When I met the dog she had an unnoticed open wound beneath her ear. Or so they say they didn't notice. However when it bursts there is *no way* to not notice that, as blood and pus is everyone and the dog would be howling in pain. Unless of course she wasn't kept indoors. They also said her teeth were fine. Another lie. When I brought up the open wound they said to take her to their vet. Eventually that led to a needed dental procedure. Poor things teeth were so bad and she needed many teeth pulled. Which should have been done w in the 18 months they had her, right? During that procedure I was told she needed a TECA surgery. They said they'd take care of it, busy she needed to stay in Denver. Since I was moving states they told me they'd take care of it and I'd get her back after it was done. It sounded fishy, so I said my sister would care for her. That's when Jaime's tone changed. She became hostile and I asked to work with different people as I wanted to care for the sweet dog. They eventually told me to fuck off and they were blocking me. So, I brought her to Portland and she's thriving post-op. I paid for the $5,000 surgery on my own. A few months post op I took a chance and asked them to pay for half. They actually did: but wow. What a deceptive rescue. Take a look at their tax info, barely any money spent on vet bills. While I'm thrilled that my pup is doing great, save yourself the hassle and adopt elsewhere.

This is a very dishonest business. We gave Jane Peck a deposit for a puppy in late 2018, and we…read morestill do not have a puppy. The first year was due to bad timing on our part, but we were REPEATEDLY assured that it would not be a problem; she would give us a puppy from a later litter. She told me over and over about how another client had delayed for 2 years! But when we were ready in late 2019, she wanted to give us a male puppy instead of the girl we had requested. She "didn't remember" our request for a girl pup. So we waited for the next litter...which "was delayed due to Covid." Finally she promised us a puppy in October 2020, but the mother dog had a medical emergency. Then she said that she couldn't give us puppies from the next 2 litters; they were "promised to kids as Christmas presents." So we were supposed to get a puppy in early 2021, but that mother dog never could get pregnant. So we were promised a girl pup from a May 2021 litter, but the week we were going to pick her up, Jane decided to keep the puppy for herself. She didn't even bother to email or write us her decision; we almost made a 1500 mile journey for nothing. Jane Peck promised us our deposit back on 3 occasions, in writing, but that was a lie. She never gave us our money back. Stay away from this business. Do NOT give her your money. She is a deceitful, unscrupulous business person.

I am sure I will be unpopular with my review- after all it is an animal shelter and who doesn't…read morewant to love an animal shelter and give 5 stars?!?! It is not the shelter itself that is the issue, and the shelter is doing such good work! Truly! We have done multiple donations to TCRAS financially as well as with supplies. We have adopted three times from here. We adopted two absolutely wonderful dogs (they were "trauma" dogs, but we worked really hard with both of them to get them through many of their issues), and we adopted one cat that apparently was adopted out several times, and those adoptions failed (including ours). For the cat adoption, I do believe allowing your home animals to meet a potential animal you wish to adopt is crucial to seeing how they will get along, if it is a good match. This is not allowed at TCRAS, and that was a huge barrier with the cat adoption. My concern is that I do not feel that everything is truly disclosed to the adopter when the process happens. I know that not everything might be known, but just basic "obvious" things are not disclosed. The other concern/issue I have is that while some of the staff are just incredible and wonderful...others treat you like you are not in the "sorority," and they cannot be bothered with you. I tried with both of our dogs to call/email/or come in every 3-4 months to provide updates and let staff see how the dogs were thriving. I was dismissed as if I was a nuisance, so I stopped. I even wanted to volunteer with walking the dogs, but the attitude that was shown to me discouraged pursuing this. In addition, I found two strays that I had brought into TCRAS and when I called Angela answered; I was trying to tell her the stray dogs had some major gestational issues and to please let the owners know when the owners were found. Apparently the stray dogs I found are "frequent flyers" with being allowed to run around town, and Angela dismissed me acting like I was the problem for bringing them into TCRAS. It was quite disheartening. While we love our dogs and we take our pets to Dr. Conrad, we have decided that TCRAS is just not the right "fit" with the attitude and individuals that are the front line workers.

YAY! I get to finally write a review on 4P4L!!…read more We found 4P4L due to a Petfinder search back in 2021. The dog we initially adopted wasn't good with our cats even though he was fine in his foster home with the resident cat. 4P4L understood and we were able to return him. They had asked me to write an updated bio for him so that potential adopters would get a better understanding of his demeanor. He was such a sweet dog but my cats weren't his thing, which wasn't his fault in the slightest. I wrote the bio and he got adopted. I was then asked to volunteer and become a foster, so we started fostering. A 3 day sleepover for a foster pup is how we started and since 2021, we have fostered over 100 dogs and volunteer at adoption events. While it is so tempting to adopt all our fosters, we know we're just helping them adjust to home life. There have been a few that we invoked the 6 month rule: if we have the pup for 6 months, we would adopt him/her because at 6 months, you're a part of our pack. Last month, there was a need to foster these 2 rottie pups because it was time for them to separate from their momma and momma needed a break. Rotties are one of our preferred breeds! Well, we invoked the 6 DAY rule knowing that the pups would be adopted within the week. So that's it! That's how we got our Saoirse! Even if you cannot adopt, please think about volunteering with us or becoming a foster! A little weekend break from the kennel is what all the dogs need and you may just invoke your own 6 day rule!!

So SOMEHOW, SOMEONE here at Yelp took away my ORIGINAL , TRUTHFUL review of this crappy rescue…read more Pics to prove what they did. It appears this rescue is able to pick and choose their posted reviews! Really Yelp? What have you turned into if we cannot post our TRUTHFUL experiences here? This upsetting and honestly, it's CENSORSHIP! Let me try again and see if yelp decides to censor me again. We adopted a cockapoo here. My mother paid $480 for our girl. We arrived and she comes out to us, UNBATHED, UNGROOMED and she SMELLED awful. She had diarrhea all over her rear end and she was SO terrified, she was shaking and pooped in the girls arms as she was carrying her. It was OBVIOUS that not ONE person had worked with her, bathed her or groomed her since she arrived at this facility! Just put her up on line and waited for someone to adopt her. Clearly NOT in it for the welfare of these animals. Just the money. Never an apology or explanation for this. No follow up phone call to see how she was adjusting. NOTHING. Based on everything here, we DO NOT RECOMMEND this rescue. They are SHAMEFUL!
