I really appreciate that the team and veterinarian took the time to review his records before our appointment. We've kept the same vet for follow up visits and guidance (Dr Dan is amazing) although they have other vets on duty that can advise for more pressing concerns when our vet is taking time off. They're closed on the weekends and have taken care to ensure my dog has any meds they may need on Fridays before they close to reduce the chance that we need to seek urgent care. Their prices are very reasonable and they don't make me schedule an appointment to give updates on my pet's status or get feedback from the vet. They provide hard copy prescriptions and will refill medications at local pharmacies without making me jump through hoops to access affordable medication options. I can text them to share updates on my pet's status and schedule appointments and they've consistently gotten back to me in a timely manner. They're a certified Fear Free clinic and it shows in their work. I can't say enough good things about them! It was one of the most terrifying experiences we've ever faced as pet owners. The moment we arrived at Tender Care Veterinary Center, the staff immediately stepped in with kindness, urgency, and compassion. Dr. Lieve Kamholz saw Nyssa right away, and within about 30 minutes of arriving, they had already completed X-rays, blood work, and a full exam. Dr. Kamholz quickly diagnosed the problem and clearly explained our options. Nyssa ultimately needed emergency surgery to survive. Dr. Kamholz and the entire team were incredible throughout the entire process--from diagnosis, to pre-operative care, to surgery, to post-operative care. Their skill, compassion, and quick action saved our sweet Nyssa. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for bringing our pup back from the brink of death. I've never seen a vet have this much difficulty setting and immobilizing a broken leg as these people. They, (first off) can't splint the leg securely. Having taken the kitten in for the THIRD TIME to take care of him, ay $85.00 a visit, putting his care into the OVER $1,000 DOLLAR RANGE, We noticed a very small abrasion on his leg from the splint that they can't get to stay on. The tech called in the DOCTOR to evaluate it without asking us if we want to spend even more. This was $50.00 just to peek at it and not do anything about it (as it was a simple abrasion) yet the $50 charge was inflicted upon us. They then told us that if they can't get the bone stabilized and healed they would suggest AMPUTATION of this poor kittens leg and told us it would ONLY BE ABOUT $800. We've take other pets there for a variety of reasons and ALWAYS LEAVE FEELING MONETARILY VIOLATED. So we figure that this over $1,200.00. I'm a retired vet and work in health care and was also an Army Medic. My wife was an E.R. Nurse for 26 years for the Dept of Defense. We understand how minor this injury is and we can't afford that. They want to load the bill so much that in the end (if they could have it their way) the cost would be close to $2,000.00 to cut the poor kitty's leg off and they wouldn't even blink. BUT.. like most veterinarians, they know that humans are suckers for their loved pets and they will bend you over for a much as they can. If you want to eat, stay away from this Vet.

Dr. Miles and his staff have taken amazing care of Stella and shown us ongoing grace and kindness. We are there every 6 months or more, depending on how things are going for her. The staff always takes or returns our calls really fast and they are always patient. Dr. Miles, himself, calls us the day after our appointments to discuss lab results and review the plan going forward. We never feel rushed with anyone there. They genuinely show that they care for us and our little dogs.

It did not go well. Diabetes is a disease that is way beyond the scope of most primary/general vets! It takes someone who knows the disease and all of its quirks (there are many!). These guys know their stuff! We are still working on figuring out his insulin dose, but getting closer. The Internal Medicine department at SCVIM is beyond attentive! I get check-in calls almost daily, even on Sundays! I even got one on Christmas Day. I have actually talked to a veterinarian more than once about how things are going. They have made adjustments to his insulin without me having to bring him into their office. Yes, my initial visit was expensive, but I have gotten more than my money's worth from them since. Given how stressful figuring out diabetes is, the follow up/support they have provided us helps with my peace of mind. Hoping we find the right insulin dose soon (getting closer). She sent us home with detailed instructions on what symptoms to watch for and even followed up with an email containing additional information and a list of 24-hour emergency veterinary hospitals. Their patient rooms have a dog bed, dog toys and even Dog TV to help your furbaby relax. The yummy treats also helped! This was our third facility in our quest to figure out what is ailing our 8 year Border Collie mix. She has been limping for several months. We started out with X-rays at our primary vet, CT scans at a second facility and today, a second opinion with Dr. Scot Swainson. The amazing staff called our primary vet for Jessie's records/X-rays; and the second facility for the CT scan/radiology report so we did not have any action items except to show up! The doctor reviewed everything on the big screen in the patient room, observed her walking on several jaunts throughout the facility, took additional x-rays and spent quite a bit of time performing physical examinations on her to understand WHERE the pain was originating. We spent a lot of time talking about the X-rays, CT scans, radiology report as well as his own assessments. He recommended completing an ultrasound and thinks surgery should be a last resort (first opinion recommendation). Even though they have an onsite ultrasound technician, he referred us to a local place instead (so we don't have to drive 1.5 hours from Denver to Colorado Springs). I truly appreciated his calm demeanor, and his expert opinion on what could be ailing our baby girl. I would highly recommend this facility and Dr. Scot Swainson. They truly care about their furbabies and have excellent "bedside manner"!! We would return in a heartbeat for any orthopedic issues!

We are deeply disappointed with our experience at this veterinary practice and feel compelled to…read moreshare our concerns to warn other pet owners. In December our cat underwent a dental procedure here costing approximately two thousand dollars. On January 7 she abruptly stopped eating entirely. We brought her in immediately and clearly expressed concern that she may have ingested something toxic or foreign. Bloodwork was performed and we were told the results suggested ingestion of something toxic. Imaging is the most serious issue in this case. X rays were discussed but my husband did not decline imaging. He was actively discouraged from pursuing X rays and was told they were not necessary at that time. Despite this the medical record inaccurately states that X rays were declined which is categorically false. Our cat was sent home with medications but no imaging despite complete anorexia. Multiple follow up calls resulted in additional medications still without imaging. She never resumed eating and continued to deteriorate. When we sought care at another veterinary clinic X rays were performed immediately and a foreign object was found in her stomach and surgically removed. As a result we have serious concerns about -Failure to act on persistent anorexia and ingestion concerns -The delay of basic diagnostic imaging -Inaccurate and misleading medical documentation regarding consent and decision making -Discouraging imaging while documenting it as declined -The delay forcing emergency care at another clinic We formally requested -A refund for the January 7 visit and related medications -A correction to the medical record Both requests were refused. Additionally the primary veterinarian we interacted with was rude dismissive and condescending and spoke in a manner that felt elitist and talked down to us while we were advocating for our pet. Mistakes happen in medicine. What is unacceptable is refusing accountability failing to correct inaccurate records and treating concerned clients with disrespect especially when those errors result in delayed emergency care. We strongly encourage pet owners to advocate aggressively for diagnostics and to review medical records closely if they choose to seek care here.
