We loved Nate's Boathouse so much, we went twice during our trip to St. Croix -- and both times were amazing! Our first visit was for breakfast. We did the bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys -- the drinks were so good, and you can even mix them yourself! I had the bagel sandwich, and it was honestly one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. You have to try it. The location is perfect, right on the boardwalk with beautiful views, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. For dinner, we came back and were just as impressed. I ordered the crab fries -- phenomenal. My boyfriend had pasta with mussels, and it was packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. And again -- the drinks were amazing! First time dining at Nate's Boathouse. Upon arriving we were welcomed by Bill who also was our server. After being seated, we ordered drinks and calamari (delicious). Family ordered 1lb Steamed Mussels, Crab Cakes platter, Shrimp Tacos, and Caesar Salad. Opted for the Lager Island Life which was lite and refreshing. Prices match the portion size and quality of the plates. Open table concept, with views of the boat harbor. Can get a bit loud with boats revving engines and blasting music. Bill was courteous, friendly and attentive, even sharing a few good stories of his two year tenure. Ask him to share his run in with a Danish patron, wow! It's a bit tricky to get there if you driving and not familiar with the area. The view is nice, and would be great to just sit and enjoy the ocean. Husband said his food was great and they went to the trouble to fix me a vegetarian "bowl". After your meal you can enjoy a walk along the boardwalk. read more

I really wanted to like this place. The location is great! The menu looked promising ... had lunch here on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. Place wasn't busy. Tried to order fried seafood entree then told they were "out" of Mahi, so we asked for more shrimp, then the 2 sides I wanted were also "out". These things happen so I ordered something else. Food took a while but I was like "hey, we aren't in a rush". My entree was cold and super greasy. I had to ask for condiments. The attitude of the waitress was nice but I can tell she was super annoyed. The food was bland and didn't taste fresh at all. I got the mahi that I was told they were out of and wish I hadn't. The family and I ate here years ago and I found on old receipt-realizing I never reviewed the place. So I just looked up the menu and the food choices have changed significantly. Years later, however I do still remember the meal and Wifey and I just talked about it. We actually really liked this place...stopped here for a late lunch after doing some shopping and sightseeing. According to the receipt, we ordered a pretty big meal for lunch (some of these aren't on the menu any longer): Shrimp pistolette, Mahi sandwich, Flank steak sandwich, and Fish and chips. We started with Chips and salsa and I had the Crawfish bisque and we also had a Parate, a local Virgin Islands Pale Ale and a virgin Strawberry daiquiri. I remember our waitress being super nice, but completely overwhelmed as the place was packed. We weren't in a hurry so a little slow service didn't bother us - plus she kept checking in on us. Food was great and I remember loving my meal AND the hot sauce they had on the table. Writing this makes me realize how much I need a vacation and want to go back to St. Croix. We found our way to Nate's after a search for Conch Fritters on Yelp. We started with those and some drinks. The fritters tasted more like hush puppies with a pinch of Conch. Could have used more Conch. The kids had Sprite with Guava juice and it was fantastic! Simple! I had the jerk chicken sandwich and my wife had a salad. My sandwich was just okay. I didn't taste the jerk seasonings. It was made well, just didn't have the kick I was expecting. My wife's salad had a lemon dill dressing made on request. I loved it! But she didn't. Where do I even begin? This restaurant was just terrible. The whole time we were here my friends and I thought we were being punk'd. We get seated and after no one comes for a good 20 minutes, I went back inside and asked if someone could take our drinks. The guy I ask comes out with me and takes our drinks and ends up being our waiter. When we ask him about certain items on the menu, it seemed like he had no knowledge of them and was not very helpful at all. We finally order and it takes about 35 min. before our food comes. Right before that, the manager comes over and confirms what we ordered with us? I guess he didn't trust his staff enough to trust they wrote down the right thing and there were actually a few discrepancies with what he confirmed with us. Once we got our food, my shrimp tacos were literally in hard shells contrary to what the menu had said about them being on corn tortillas. When I bring this to the managers attention he says that they haven't had soft tortillas for awhile now. That would have been nice to know when I ordered the shrimp tacos originally. They were terrible and so bland and I was just so hungry that I eventually just ate the shrimp without the hard tacos shell. My friend got salmon that was extremely dry and not very good. My other friend got fish that was fried, not grilled like she had asked for so she returned it and didn't even order anything else because we were so fed up by this point. The manager came over and ended up taking 50% off our check which was nice but when my friend checked her bank account, she saw that it was the original price, so now she has to dispute the charge. This was all around just a terrible experience from the staff to the food and I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Our first time to Nate's and it did not disappoint! Compared to other places on the boardwalk, we expected a mediocre lunch, but were pleasantly surprised by our lunch today! Our server Tiffany was great and recommended the Cheesesteak - and she wasn't kidding. Great fries - and even though I got "tater tots," by mistake, they ended up being fantastic. None of that greasy, weird taste I recall from childhood. These were excellent, as was my mushroom/swiss on toast. Top it off by the best mojitos we've ever had by top notch bartender Kate - we are already looking forward to going back. Adequate selection of bar-type foods. Burgers, snacks, salads, etc. Prices are high like the rest of the island. Food is fine but nothing to rant about - what you'd expect from a bar. Veggie fajitas are essentially a disassembled salad (lettuce, cheese, tomato) plus some grilled onions and peppers. For $25. Service was good and attentive. No AC so be prepared to sweat. Right on the end of the boardwalk, so it's convenient to that area of the city. read more

We were welcomed back this morning by both Chad, and Kate again. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Food was mediocre and probably the worst that we had on our entire trip. The "jumbo"shrimp were nothing bigger than what you would find at Applebees, the coconut shrimp were definitely not fresh. All in all not a good dining experience and would not recommend to anyone. Our server was more interested in sitting down at an empty table rather than checking on us. He never brought us plates or utensils for our appetizer and only brought us some upon being asked to once our dinner got to the table. 75$ after tip would be much better spent elsewhere. read more

A bit of a mixed bag in terms of food and service, but the atmosphere is wonderful and that's really what you're paying for -- waterside dining. They seemed short-handed, which almost every restaurant is these days, so working as a team is even more important, but was still a little choppy. Our frozen drinks sat on the bar so long waiting to be delivered that the bartender himself brought them out. Although more melted than they could have been, they were still tasty. The crab legs were well-cooked, but the potatoes in the crab pot weren't fully done. The burger that was supposed to be cooked to medium was well done and dry. The grilled shrimp for the Louis salad were perfectly cooked, and the fried seafood platter was good. They were out of calamari, but willingly subbed either more shrimp or another piece of mahi. Apparently they've also been out of peach rum and peach schnapps for a very long time but the drink requiring these two ingredients has remained on the menu. We were bummed but I'm sure it's frustrating for the servers to constantly have to tell diners. read more

Where to begin. We waited over an hour for the appetizers. The tater tot appetizer was great. The conch fritters were rubbery and I would not order again. We then waited another hour for our dinner. In that period of time we saw another table leave who had waited 2 hours and had not received any food. One guy came back because he was starving and hoped it would be there soon. He got it 20 minutes later after they brought out the wrong dish twice. Our small water glasses were never refilled. It was difficult flagging the waitstaff. After waiting an hour and a half we were told our food was being platted. 30 minutes later the food came, though we were still missing one person's order for another 10 minutes. I ordered a side of fried plantains and got tater tots. They fixed it and brought them out. How do you mess up fried plantains? My stuffed blue crabs had no crab in them, I swear. It was a lot of breading with onion and bell pepper. I really think they forgot the crab. I ate one and left the rest. I never do that. The cooked veggies were good! Yeah! Another persons side was wrong and their brussel sprouts tasted rotten. They really did. But...the frozen drinks were delicious. At the end they kept insisting it is never like this and even comped 25% off the bill which was nice. We didnt have to ask, they knew it was bad. The thing is, even if it is not normally like this...you should still get refills on your drinks and be able to get a hold of your waitress or them at least come by and update you what is going on. Nate's Boathouse has an amazing scenery, right on the boardwalk, beautiful view to the ocean and the boats. The service was great, quick, accessible and very nice servers. Full Islanders hospitality. I cannot say I enjoyed the food as much as the place itself . I started with Fried Calamari as an appetizer, the calamari was crispy outside and very soft inside. Cooked perfectly and with a cocktail sauce on the side. I asked for the special of the day, a Chicken Marinated with Lemon, sided with Jasmine rice, Tostones and red beans. The Chicken had a good taste, but it was raw inside and missing the golden color of a baked chicken. The rice was not Jasmine rice, or at least not cooked well, clumpy and sticky. The tostones were very crispy and very good. I can't give a review on the beans because I was not served enough to take a good taste, two spoons of beans doesn't make a side dish. Overall, of you are looking for a nice ocean breeze and good service, Nate's Boathouse is the place for you. If you are looking for good food, try a different place. read more

Very misled by other reviews... we came for the lobster and left hungry. I don't know if there's new management or what. First, we waited about 30 minutes before we ordered and most things they said they didn't have. It took about 2 hours to get our food. We ended up getting a steak with snow crab, mashed potatoes, and veggies. The veggies were good, but everything else was AWFUL. I hate to post a bad review, but we spent $65 and the only thing edible was the veggies. The mashed potatoes looked like they were cooked, half mashed and that's it. I don't even know how to describe the steak it was so chewy and gross... On top of that we had to wait 20 minutes after our food came out for our waiter so we could ask for water, a steak knife, and shell cracker. When we asked for the cracker he was confused and didn't know what we needed it for. Just don't go here. read more

We were in the Gallows Bay area and it was an early day so we decided to brush up on the breakfast stops in Christiansted on the way home. Nates didn't look too busy and the meals at the tables looked promising. So we went in and were seated inside, waiter stopped by for the drink order and with menus. We both ordered the breakfast skillet, which arrived in a small cast iron dutch oven, hot, hot. This was layered with potatoes on the bottom, stewed onions, then several bacon strips and topped with scrambled eggs. A slice of orange some pickled red onion and greens completed the meal. A pretty good breakfast, just a tad small on the portion size for me, but perfect for the GF. Nice view of the harbor and right on the west end of the boardwalk. read more

Went there last night after 18 hours of traveling and the service was excellent and the waitresses were attentive and friendly , the food was good BUT went there for breakfast this morning and the young lady waiting on us gave us the impression that she couldn't care if we were there or not. I ordered a breakfast skillet which looked amazing in the picture but when I received it not so much. It was extremely small, smallest skillet I'd ever seen. I ask the young lady to cut the mushrooms and when It arrived she set it down and took off and we didn't see her again for quite a long time and you guessed it, it was full of mushrooms. The person who was with me never was ask if he'd like a refill on his drink and I had to run her down to get a refill on my coffee. The only time she communicated with us is when she handed me my check then she was extremely nice wising us a great day! My tip matched the service! And oh for those of you saying "we'll the mushrooms wasn't her fault" when I excused myself to the facilities I seen her in the kitchen helping prepare our food would not recommend the early crew but the night shift is where it's at! read more

After a lack of service at Caroline's this morning, we walked back to the end of the Christiansted boardwalk near the sea planes. We had passed Nate's Boathouse on our two mile walk and we commented on how we wanted to try it-and we had promised ourselves a first meal at Caroline's. It was perfect that we ended up back at Nate's because the service was amazing and the breakfast burrito was delicious. The experience erased the disappointment we had felt earlier. Jenna (I hope I spelled it correctly!) our server was everything you want in a server-friendly, attentive, thoughtful and informative. She made us feel special and kept our coffee cups filled without asking. The breakfast burrito we had with sausage and cheddar jack-it was filling and really good! I would have given a five and the menu says the burrito comes with "an arugula salad". It's was a small pile of arugula, a thin slice of Orange and no dressing-not a salad in my book.
