Two items led me to discontinue using their service. I'm only going to share one because I don't want to completely ridicule them. I had a relatively complex tax question where I needed my accountant and real estate agent on a call to discuss tax implications of a transaction. When Armik came on the phone I quickly realized that he didn't know anything about my tax history. Not only had he not prepared for the call he also failed to realize that I was his client and only after giving me poor advice asks me to contact my personal accountant. When I tell him that he is in fact my accountant, he doesn't seem embarrassed by the mistake, doesn't apologize. Here I am trusting my accountant to give me solid advice and he doesn't even know me. The worst part is that a week later I get a bill for an absurd amount for his 15 minutes on the call. Useless and expensive for relatively little customer service.

He chooses to not take my 2nd call and emails me that he could longer work on my return because it's too complicated...and he tells me this 2 days before tax deadline, the 13th. He probably would not have emailed me if didn't reach out to him. The more I think about it, the more I realize he was just googling how to file an ITIN. I started working at a company that had the worst IT vendor and I wanted a quick change. Kevin at CyberDuo reassured us that they would be able to help us smoothly transition over to them. 2.5 years later we are still very happy with the service they provide us on a regular basis. Just recently, our 20 employee business was purchased by a very large public organization and they have put Kevin and the team through a whirlwind of requests, demands, etc., and they are just as responsive as ever. For example, if you call their toll free 24 hour support, a human actually picks up. If you send a service request, I'd be shocked not to hear back within 10-15 minutes. In 2015 I had pretty tricky situation regarding fraudulent activity found in my 2013 return. A previous tax guy in another stated prepared and filed my 2013 and stole $20,000 from the IRS. The scammer did it in such a way that he made it seem as though I personally filed my own return, wrote $55k off for a truck I never owned, for a business I never operated. I came to Mash accounting again because of the great job Ando did on my 2014 return. Ando was able to go through the old filings and noticed some discrepancies that the average person would not have noticed, if they weren't patient or cared about their client. I have every text message showing the irresponsible and unprofessional behavior. If you have an 11 AM paid consultation and you know you'll be late, there's no excuse for not sending a quick text or email. I get it, people get busy, but accountability and a simple apology are the bare minimum. The lack of both was unacceptable and unprofessional. End of story. Update: Ara, you still never apologized--that's the bottom line. Your response proves it. Saying, "Oh, we offered a refund as an apology" isn't an apology at all. Of course, a refund is expected when the consultation never happened. That's not generosity, that's basic fairness. What's insulting is the attempt to pass it off as if it makes up for your behavior. You were late, you didn't take responsibility, and now you're scrambling with excuses. That's why I said we dodged a bullet--because you're disingenuous. And frankly, trying to compare yourself to attorneys, doctors, or restaurant owners is laughable. They take responsibility and accountability for their clients and customers. You do not.
