I wanted to adopt 1 when this pandemic started but due to the SIP the animal shelters were closed. I signed up for Next door, an app so I can stay busy. I even held a few Zoom book clubs thanks to that community! Anyway. I don't remember how it came about - either I posted about fostering or I replied to a posting but a woman sent me a PM to tell me what possible fostering opportunities they may have. After a phone call and a few text messages a sweet semi-feral momma arrived w/ her 3 little gems. The transition from day 1 was a bit rocky but she found herself at the dining table where I was working and let me pet her. I was advised to keep her in the kennel but I couldn't do that.. I let her roam in a defined area. I was in love w/ her, whom I named Seren (Serendipity) and her kittens. I've had them for 9 wks before momma and a kitten were adopted by my good friend. I decided to keep the other 2: Gus Gus and Mo (Moana). Yes, Disney characters. This non-profit is a wonderful organization; respectable, responsive, friendly, resourceful, everything. Cat made sure I had enough food and litter and answered questions whenever raised. They take care of the vaccinations and spay/neuter for the 1st year. If you can't adopt, please consider fostering. I cried so much when Seren and Caterpillar were adopted but deep down I knew that we helped save their lives. The world is cruel and I am an animal lover... they drink bottled water and they have a plethora of food and treats and toys. I was going to get it but I'll refrain from getting a pet stroller.. you know... because I'm not a crazy cat lady. They have brought so much joy in my life. Thank you so much!! read more

Eleven years ago, I adopted a beautiful gray and white purring machine from NARF. Our cat's foster Mom was up front with us about his breathing problems and past history of pneumonia as a kitten. She was honest with us that he may not live as long as other kitties but we were already smitten. I saw our boy's foster mommy a few years back and she remembered "Thor" (we changed his name to Spot) and marveled at the pictures I showed of him. Our Spot cat gave us 11 wonderful action cat years of unconditional love, joy and happiness. as well as thousands of great photos of him close-up and in action. He was like some feline male supermodel. He passed on to the great catnip pasture in the sky with the countless number of past cats and dogs in my life. We still miss him so. I went back to NARF to one of their adoption fairs at Petco. There we saw two little darlings we couldn't pass up. One rascal has 26 toes and the other is a gray little tiger angel, until she starts playing rough. As before, NARF was up front and honest about our kittens health, quirks, and everything else. I didn't get to see Spot's foster mom (she is still a foster Mom) this time but I met some other fabulous NARF people who do a wonderful service rescuing, fostering and adopting out cats and dogs. I tip my hat to people in organizations such as NARF who rescue and care for the hundreds of kittens, puppies, cats and dogs out there. read more

I can't say enough about NARF! I adopted two WONDERFUL cats Cara and Comet (see the picture) from them three years ago and I haven't been happier. They even called for an update to see how they were doing. They had them "fixed" and "ID chipped" before I picked them up. They sit with you and make SURE you want to adopt, and how old of a cat (or dog, or even a chicken). I wanted two cats, so they asked me a lot of questions to make sure I was the right kind of person they wanted to adopt. I am glad I was! They have always been nice when I have seen them at PetCo. Sometimes I just want to go to PetCo and visit the kitties again. If I can in the future, I will definitely be adopting from them again. Until then I will donate money when I can. -J read more

We adopted our Dog Moo Shu from Narf. We love him to death. Of course he has some issue's being from a shelter but he is improving slowly. Mary was the foster mom who took care of Moo Shu (previously named Max) and she fosters these dogs. I wished I could have taken more home but one is more work than we can handle sometimes! I'm glad we were able to give MS a great new home w/ a loving family. The fee was 200 for adoption and MS was updated w/ shots and vaccinations. 07/2011: Just wanted to provide an update. Moo Shu is doing great and we just love him so much. I am so grateful to NARF for bringing him into our life! I also found a stray cat a few months ago that had to have her tail amputated and NARF was nice enough to let me bring her to a cat fair to help her get adopted out. We found a nice home for her and thanks to NARF another life was saved :) thank you!! read more

Just participated in the Nike Animal Rescue Foundation Walk-A-Thon in Los Gatos today! Super awesome! The walk itself was a decent distance. Not too far, but not too shot. Tons of raffles prizes and I LOVED how you could walk with a dog who needed to be adopted. The lunch BBQ was really good. Hamburgers/Hot dogs with chili, salad and drinks. Even though Nike was unable to take the cat we need to find a home for right now, they were very helpful in providing information about other organizations that might be able to help. The woman (Cheryl, I believe?) I spoke with also gave a list of helpful resources and ideas to try to find a home for the cat ourselves. Out of 8 different animal rescue places we called, Nike was the only one to call back and the only one to try to help. It was appreciated, and I will be sending a donation in gratitude. read more

I have nothing but love for these folks. I adopted a wonderful dog from them two years ago for $200 and he came ready with all his shots/neutered/microchipped. The foster parents are very careful about finding the right pet for you. My NARF dog is my first dog and when I told the foster parent what I was looking for in a pet with the knowledge that I was relatively inexperienced, she took the time to figure out which dog would fit my personality. It seemed to work since the dog she picked out picked me as well after our little play session. After the dog and I agreed we'd take each other home, the foster parent walked around the store, suggesting what I should or shouldn't get in terms of supplies. I was able to easily get a hold of the foster parent whenever I had questions about the dog after I took him home. These guys are just great and they provide such a wonderful service. Must love any organization that helps animals.

I contacted this group to help me place my dog in a new home because we are having a baby and my dog is not baby friendly. This group told me my dog was too old to place (5 years old) and good luck with no other advice. I'm not sure how they help place dogs. Doesn't seem like a rescue agency if they only place easy to place dogs like perfect puppies. I always like to rescue dogs and the two I have were strays that ended up in shelters who we rescued. I am looking for a good dog placement agency if anyone knows one. read more

My husband and I just adopted a terrier mixed puppy named, Michael (new name is Carlton). The process was very smooth. We left a message for them over the phone. They called us within an hour and we had a brief phone interview with the foster parent. She invited us to come to her home to meet all the pups and to get to know us better. Once we decided that we wanted Michael, we filled out all the paperwork and she walked us through all the necessary info such as: - next vaccination and deworming dates - feeding schedule - potty schedule *We also brought our apt lease to show that we're allowed to have dogs and this demonstrated to the foster parent that we were responsible and ready to adopt a dog. She also gave us the following items: - folder with all the paperwork and more than enough reading to get you started on how to raise a puppy - medium ziplock bag of dog food - dog collar with tag that had NARF's contact info - deworming formula We would highly recommend adopting from NARF and we would definitely come back to them in the future. read more

We just adopt a terrier puppy. The entire adoption experience was warm and welcoming. Foster mom Mary was awesome and helpful.

A woman a don't know reached out to me to help place her pets. She said she had spoken to someone and that they were rude to her and made her feel awful about how she treated her dogs. I do agree that I didn't think she was financially able to have them but her heart was in the right place and now she is trying to do the right thing and not throw them in the shelter. I tried to reach the woman she spoke to hoping to help explain her situation more and offer help with our taking on the whole situation. In my heart there living things and I just wanted to try my best to get them to a safe loving environment where they could be properly taken care of. I try to reach out to the woman that she was referred to and apparently she is a high up at this company and I messaged her on Facebook and when I went to check back a little while later I couldn't find her so it looks like I was blocked or deleted. Which was a little bit disappointing, she could've just said no or I'm sorry we can't help you but to just dismiss my conversation completely and ignore me was really rude. Again I appreciate anybody who takes care of animals and goes above and beyond to find them there forever perfect home but don't be rude. You were not better than anybody else. And there's a lot of people who love animals who shouldn't have them so when they try to do the right thing maybe help them out and set of making him feel like crap. read more

AMAZING. My husky ran away and she gave me all the info I needed on who to call and where to go. She even called me back a few days after when she thought of another husky specific shelter I could call (we have found him by the way). It's a plus that this group is passionate about their animals and look for the most suitable owner but this review was for my experience trying to adopt a puppy. First off, I've had 2 dogs before and most of my friends and family have dogs of their own so I'm familiar as to how to take care of a dog but I've never had a puppy so I understand why I might not be the most suitable person to have a puppy and that's all I needed to hear but she went above and beyond to make me feel inferior. I told her I wanted to adopt a puppy for my mom and she said, " I don't care how old you are, you're mom needs to adopt the puppy not you"(I didn't even mention my age ).I went on to tell her how I would take care of the puppy and she told me to go do my homework and then call back in a couple days. I think it's really amazing what they're doing for animals in need of homes but the way I was treated doesn't make me eager to come back or refer them to anyone. read more

I have had the pleasure of working with the folks from NARF, not once but twice! Last fall we adopted Madeline (former "Lizzie") a beautiful adult fawn pug. We couldn't have been happier. She is well adjusted, No bad habits, just a love bug as promised. Just last week we decided to acquire a companion for Madeline. Of course I didn't hesitate to contact Linda from NARF to inquire about one other small terrier mix, "Radar". Linda patiently answered all of my questions, having known Maddy because she was her foster mom, she was able to assure me that Radar and Maddy would be great friends. While coordinating with Linda, she put me in touch with Mary, Radar's foster mom who had him since he was picked up off the street several years ago. We were able to meet everyone again on Saturday, in spite of my earlier appointment running late, Mary graciously waited for us to arrive. Needless to say, it was love at first sight...again! So Cosmo (formerly Radar) has joined our family and is everything we had hoped for and more. In spite of being fostered for so long, he uses the doggie door, no accidents, NO bad habits, respects Maddy's space and is a snuggle bug. I never hesitated to doubt the wonderful people at NARF, they know their pets and are gracious with their information and knowledge of these unfortunate ones. I would, without a doubt, HIGHLY RECOMMEND contacting this rescue, you won't be disappointed. Hopefully those who read this review will soon be joined by a companion who can fulfill the space in your hearts and return the love they so desperately need. read more
