Mmmm Nardeill's in my belly, what a nice treat. I called in the order and it was ready in 5 minutes, quick service always makes the experience better. I enjoyed a grilled chicken Caesar salad along side an Italian sub. Both of the items impressed me in size and flavor. On top of the delicious food and great service, the food was surprisingly cheap. Easy 5 star for Nardelli's... no wonder they have been in businesses for over 100 years. Hats off to the chef. read more

Always enjoy a grinder from this restaurant they use the freshest ingredients and the best meats. Meat is usually overflowing on these grinders. Definitely worth every penny . Staff is friendly and restaurant is clean. Easy in and out. read more

Mixed reactions, two weeks ago my wife and I had an Italian combo which we both thought was very good so we decided to order another last night. What a difference, it was awful bread seemed stale and the grinder was soaked which I do not like. Way too much mayo in my opinion. read more

Awesome food awesome staff and all out awesome everything . Love the grinders and all of the food there

Ordered lunch during my break from this Nardelli's and the staff were so friendly and welcoming! This was my first time visiting this particular location and it certainly won't be my last. The sandwiches were packed full and were consistent with the freshness and deliciousness that I'm used to from the Naugatuck location! Plenty of seating and all of the tables were clean. Love the side salads and desserts as always. Already looking forward to my next visit to Nardelli's! read more

I've been searching for a 'go to' CT grinder spot for years. I'm from CT where 'subs' were always referred to as 'grinders'. Over the years, and having purchased many of these types of sandwiches all over the country, I'd come to the conclusion that the main difference between a sub & a grinder was in the oil and in the fact that grinders had shredded lettuce. Nardelli's (a rewards club restaurant-for which I quickly applied prior to downloading their user friendly app & prior to ordering) proved to me that there are even more differences, mostly in the taste and texture. Natdelli's does it right! The only reason I gave them only 4 stars is because, although the bread was great, there was just too much of it and it almost over powered the grinder. read more

The person working at the counter was extremely pleasant. However, the two sandwiches that I ordered had very little meat and the bread was not fresh. It was very disappointing. I usually go to the Nardelli's in Meriden CT and the sandwiches are thick and filled with meat. And, the bread fresh. I will not be going back to the Waterbury, CT Nardelli's. read more

Why would you send a salad to a hospital and not include dressing (she ordered extra for me), napkins or any utensils? Just why? This is more than disappointing, its downright negligence. Never ordering from here again! read more

Amazing sandwiches and great atmosphere. Hot or cold I love it all. The food came out quick and was served with a smile.

Service was exceptional but very disappointing. I ordered 6ft sub for party which we have done many times. Their special pepper relish blend etc used to be on the side. Now the grinders come with all but mayo or mustard. Barely any lettuce, tomatoes, olives etc - would rather they put back on side. read more

Great service and great food. Wound highly recommend. The size of the sandwich was mind blowing.

Amazing service and the grinders were so delicious. We'll definitely be back next time we are in town for a real sandwich. read more

Sandwich was not what I expected. I ordered on DoorDash so was not able to make customizations of the sandwich. They put hot sauce on the sun which made it off putting to me. I gave the sandwich away. Worst sandwich I have ever eaten. read more

Good stuff. Not my favorite sub shop in the world, but I would happily eat here any day of the week. I was visiting CT, and heard that Nardelli's was the famous sub/grinder/hoagie/hero place in the area. That being said, I had to try it out. They have an Italian deli sort of feel mixed with a franchise sorta feel when you first walk in. You order at the right and pay at the left, with a fountain soda machine and chips available. The different thing is that they sell stuff like cannoli and other random things you would not find at a Subway or something. To me, it is all about the bread. The bread tasted fresh, and was very filling. It was tall, chewy on the inside, with a nice crust. I got a whole instead of a half, and it was just way too much food for me. I wen with the steak while my friend went for a chicken salad sub. The steak was alright, but probably not the best thing on their menu. I should have gone the cold cut/lunchmeat route. I did treat myself to a cannoli, which was very good as well. In the end, I can see why this place is a popular spot, as everything was well done and the staff was friendly and fast. Check it out. read more

Grinder a good find(er)! New to the terminology "grinder", but what a great treat. Fresh sandwiches packed with goodness. Definitely a generous portion. We shared a buffalo chicken cutlet as an app... sooooo tasty. Then we shared the American and Italian grinders...Really good and again, quite the portion. I'm definitely glad we arbitrarily stopped in here. Definitely a great meal. read more

I have no idea how I've never reviewed this place before. It's no secret that I like sandwiches. Sandwiches are probably one of my favorite foods because there is so many options and you can never go wrong with a sandwich. Nardelli's makes a great Italian combo which is my go to sandwich. Their bread is tasty and they do not skimp on anything- meat, condiments, you name it and it's there. While some Nardelli's are better than others... this one falls in the better category. Grazie. read more

I was finally able to visit here. It was small with multiple tables to sit at. Besides sandwiches, they had lots of options to choose from salads to hot foods to desserts. The ordering at the counter was easy and my food was ready quickly. I went with the whole Italian combo ($8.95). It consisted of pruzitini (baked ham with black peppercorns), capicola, and salami. I ordered with their 'everything'. That consisted of mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes diced vegetables, provolone cheese, olives, and hot sauce. I asked for no hot sauce. The sandwich was big and had lots of meat and toppings. The bread was my favorite component. It was not too soft or hard, just the right balance. All of the fixings also appeared to be fresh and of good quality. Will I go back? No doubt. read more

Nardelli's Grinder Shoppe - Italian Combo with "Everything" except hot sauce - Delis Near Me - Waterbury, Connecticut

Big fan of this place and it maintains the tradition of Nardelli's quality perfectly. You're not going to always find the volume of selection as you will at the Plank Road location (which I also love), but to get to that one on a day off I have to drive on i84, this one...I DO NOT! Bottom line is that you are going to get some great food at a great price and be in and out quickly. And as with all the locations I've tried, service is always exceptional. GRATZI!!! read more

When did this place turn into subway? Back in the day before they sold and expanded, this was a legit deli. Now it is like a fast food chain, with the giant colored menu, mediocre sandwiches, nothing made in the back. Not a legit deli anymore. Its a glorified subway. read more

Ordered a chicken salad grinder last Friday. I split the sandwich with my son at work. Unfortunately that night we both got violently ill and at least I, stayed in bed most of the weekend. Brought home an Italian combo for my gf, I had the buffalo chicken sub (which was listed on the board as being "on special", but at the same price as the main menu -- so what is exactly "special" about that ?). The grinders were OK, my gf felt the tomatoes on hers were sliced very thin. Just not that inspiring. We also had a potato salad side, and a snickers cheesecake slice for dessert. Again, not bad, just not too exciting either. I felt $20 for the whole meal was reasonable. We might give Nardelli's another try, it's only 4 miles from where we live, so it's convenient for us. read more

Personally, I generally frequent the Nardelli's on Plank Rd, just because it's more convenient for me on my way home from work. However, I stopped here the other day just to see if there was any difference. Taste & quality-wise, absolutely not. This one is a little more cramped than the Plank Rd location, although it has the benefit of not abutting an on-ramp to 84. The interior of the Plank Rd. location is a little dumpier than this one. Service here, like the other one I go to is fantastic. I usually alternate between buffalo chicken, roast beef, or chicken salad. All solid choices. The cannoli and giant pickles are also great. And seriously? People complaining about portion size? A half a grinder is $6, and a whole is like $8. Mind you, these sandwiches are not as ridiculously stuffed as say, Carbones in Torrington, but they're still respectable nonetheless - in case you haven't been to a grocery store lately, deli meat isn't exactly cheap. Of course they're not going to load the sandwich with a pound and a half of cold cuts, be reasonable. A half grinder and a bag of chips is plenty for me most days - and if I'm particularly ravenous, then I can polish off a whole grinder - although I end up in a food coma afterwards lol read more

I usually go to the Plank Road Nardelli's as it's so much closer. However we were on the west side and decided to stop in to the Watertown Ave location. This one is much cleaner/brighter in appearance although a bit more cramped with space. The people working here are as friendly as the ones on Plank Road and as quick with service. I ordered a chicken cutlet with lettuce, tomatoes and just a little bit of mayo on a hard roll. Yeah, they listened and that is exactly what I got.. My Sidekick for the day got garlic chicken with sauce on a hard roll. We both agreed they were delicious. Each of us had birch beer and chips. The case has salads from potato to various pastas etc., You can get meatball, eggplant and many hot or cold dishes. The combo grinder seems to be a favorite. They have a "mix" that they put on the grinders but I ask for it to be omitted. Most people enjoy it but not me. They also have prepared garden style salads in the case. Plenty of sweets to decide from and I do have a sweet tooth. I miss Nardelli's when I'm in Florida. Truly difficult to find a good grinder shop like this down there ... However, I'm searching, haha. read more

I just ordered a chicken cutlet grinder and for the SECOND TIME the chicken was microwaved! Soggy chewy microwaved chicken. Disgusting

I was never a big sandwich/wrap fan until switching to a plant-based diet. I tried their plant based meat, it certainly wasn't bad but not my favorite and just offering it as an option is a huge plus for me. but I LOVE the veggie wrap with no Mayo or cheese. I could probably eat it every day. they have so many options for different dietary restrictions. when you don't feel like cooking, Nardellis is the way to go. read more

I have never gotten A Grinder here and said "this is not amazing". If you want a great grinder there is no where else to go. I recommend buffalo chicken, Philly cheesesteak, chicken Parm, meatball. Bought their "signature" salad today. $10.99. Lots of lettuce. Three olives. One slice cucumber. Two tomatoes. One slice of salami (not soppressato as advertised) with one slice provolone rolled up and sliced into thirds. I know food prices have gone up but this salad was ridiculous. They shoukd be ashamed. Never, ever again. They got too big for their britches and the quality has gone way down. Greed is ugly. read more
