When we adopted our dogs, we made a concerted effort to choose dogs who would not be easily…read moreadopted. We don't want kids, we have a steady dog-spoiling income, and we have time and energy to devote to difficult pooches. As a result, we got Hamish, our dog aggressive babe, and Callum, our love with luxating patella in both hind legs, a weird muscular disorder, and a fear of women and confined spaces.
In short, we adopted dogs who NEED canine massages. It helps ease their doggy tension, increase circulation, improve mood, treat or prevent injury, and release toxins causing aches and pains.
So when I learned about Canine Tranquility, I was eager to sign both dogs up. Today was our first massage with Christina, and it. was. phenomenal. I'm not kidding. I know there's nothing much more upper-middle-class-suburbanite someone can say than "my dogs really enjoyed and needed their massages," but OMG, it's true.
When we arrived, Christina welcomed our dogs perfectly and they warmed up to her immediately - which never happens. She had soft soothing music playing, and quickly won their hearts with treats. Hamish was too excited to really sit down and let Christina work, but watching Callum receive his massage was a thing of beauty.
Only one of Callum's legs has been repaired, and you can tell there are days he just HURTS. He walks slower, cries at the sight of staircases, favors his other leg. When Christina began massaging him, he laid back, stretched out, and struggled to keep his eyes open. He rolled around for her to hit all of his ouchiest spots, and by the end, he was giving her kisses and making eye contact - HUGE for him. In short, he loved the whole experience. He stood up with ease and walked confidently and pain-free when they were done (and got to pick a toy when he finished, which he hasn't set down since!)
I don't know what having babies is like, but I do know my dogs are my babies, and watching Christina gently and confidently remove my baby's pain - there's literally no price tag for that. We will absolutely be back with Callum again soon.
I know it may seem silly to some, but trust me when I say, your dog can and will benefit from this service. Christina is kind, professional, and wonderful with dogs, and we can't wait to return. Seriously, swallow your suburban guilt and bring your pooches for a spa day - they'll thank you for it.
