Unfortunately, I would like to leave a harvest host review also but am unable to do to computer glitch. I'm leaving a review here because we had the best time. They allowed us as harvest host to come in early, which was a good thing because this is a happening place. If we had not gotten there in the time we did, we would've never been able to park there. They have a giant parking area, but as I said before, it's the place to be in town for people 20 to 50 years old. They have outside beach volleyball, horseshoes, and other games. The daytime bartender was amazing. I recommend the food also as we did not have anything that wasn't extremely tasty. If you have a chance to have the blueberry beer, do it.

We stopped in to check the spot out for a special event. We loved the really fun atmosphere. They had a lovely big bar, ample seating, a billards room, and a dart board. They even have a stage. They have specials that include $1 oyster Thursdays, Taco night. Karaoke and live music on the weekends. We ordered the blackened chicken sandwich and shrimp po boy. I loved the fact that they were blackened and not breaded shrimp, and they lemon aioli was to die for. I like that the fries were seasoned and crisp. For beverages, I got a dirty Shirley, and my husband opted for a regular Shirley Temple. Service was prompt, and they were happy to accommodate our allergies and wishes. We definitely will return to try the jambalaya and gumbo. They also have alligator bites and beignets.

Great place to see live music on a Friday night. A little too loud for conversation, but that's to be expected. I have to remove a star for the extremely long wait - two hours for just a salad and a quesadilla - but the staff was friendly and apologetic. I'd most likely go back and give them another chance in the future.

White chicken wings and less than appealing/tasting "dip"!

The steamed clams for $15/dz were soaked in an awful juice of some sort! Gator bites were chewy, not flavorful the dip was like mayonnaise! The white chicken wings were extremely dry, bacon was way over cooked, the jambalaya looked like vomit, tasted like the chicken was soaked in propane. Fried pickles were WHOLE spears and the dip was again mayonnaise!! Would NOT recommend this place at all!!

Seems to be a very popular place at least on Thursday afternoons during happy hour. I believe they do 25 cent wings on Thursdays during h.h. (11-7 every day except Sunday), so yeah, that's probably why. They run a standard h.h. beer pour special of buy one get one half off, and that's every day of the week from 11-7 except Sundays. Not bad. They have 24 libations on tap, most being craft beers. I tried a couple of different ones that I uploaded pictures of. Some of the beers on tap the day I visited: Founders Breakfast Stout, Shmaltz 518 Foggy Goggles IPA (which I really like), Barrier 6 American IPA (also very, very good), Sloop Liquid Sorcery, several Goose Island drafts, a Sixpoint, and a Singlecut (out of Queens, NY) Beersmith's IPA (also excellent!) and obviously many more. They certainly do food here, but this time 'round we didn't order grub. The interior decor kinda reminded me of New Orleans, but wasn't super convincing...and that's ok. I like that they have a sizeable stage in the corner and obviously bring in live music acts as well. Next time I'm here, I'll try some food and do and updated review. Beertender service was quite good and friendly, despite the fact they were busy. The two women running the bar were attentive and patient as we made multiple choices and both checked in with us multiple times to make sure we were all good. Nice.

Good selection of craft beers.

Overpriced and terrible. Fried catfish was mushy inside. Mozz cheese sticks premade and nasty. Small portions. Don't eat here

Tomato soup. Yes, tomato soup. The common ordinary comfort food, plain, predictable, uninspiring…read more The soup that warmed us up as kids, was the fallback when there was really no time to cook lunch, yeah, good ole tomato soup, we all know its story. Enter the chefs at the Ripe Tomato. No canned Campbell's or Sysco soup for them. This dish (I believe it was called Tomato Soup with Dill and Crab) comes to life in the Ripe Tomato kitchen from scratch, with chunks of tomato and some onion, a bit of dill, and a generous amount of crab meat. I asked and yes, it IS real lump crab meat, not that pathetic imitation stuff that some think can be sold as "crab". Add in a pinch of dill, and whatever it takes to make the soup delightfully creamy without being thick and pasty, and the creation is ready to serve. This dish above all else demonstrates my long held belief that superb cooking does not need a French name, unpronounceable ingredients, an hour's waiting time, being served in some sort of exquisite china by snobby haughty waiters, to be magical and engaging. Ordinary everyday food, and nothing is more ordinary and everyday than tomato soup, can become an experience and not just part of a meal; an amazing surprise that rocks one's understanding of what dish can and should be; in the hands of a talented and inspired chef. The Ripe Tomato has become our favorite lunch spot in the Tri-Cities. If we went out for dinner, it would be our favorite dinner spot. Warm, homey, welcoming, without pretense or glitter, when we walk in the door we feel at home. The place is real and enjoyable. Service is excellent, prompt, always considerate and friendly. The service is such that it is easy to feel that you are at your friend's place, and they made some special meals that they want to share. Lest you think that culinary excellence is going to cost an arm and a leg, I had an enormous and delicious order of quiche for an entree with my soup; my wife had a large Bahama Salad with enough tender juicy chicken for 2 meals, and the price was the same as 2 burgers at Red Robin. Granted that would be 2 of their fancier burgers, but tell me - what would YOU rather eat? I am running out of time here, but I want to assure you that the entrees live up to the expectations generated by the soup.

I brought my mother and her friend to Ripe Tomato because we had always spoken highly of it, and her friend had never been there before. Unfortunately, it turned into an embarrassing experience after all the praise we gave it. My mother ordered the pot roast, which was supposed to include carrots and rolls. The meal arrived without the carrots, and when I politely asked about them, the bus girl rolled her eyes at us. The carrots finally came after my mother was basically finished eating, and the rolls never came at all. Our friend ordered the Haddock Almondine, which was missing the mashed potatoes that were supposed to come with the meal. Again, attitude when we asked about it. To top it off, I never received a place setting when we were seated, and when I asked for one, the same bus girl slammed it down on the table. I do want to say the waitress herself was pleasant, and I understand restaurants can be short-staffed and mistakes happen. Missing items can be corrected. Rude behavior and dismissive attitudes toward customers are a different story. What disappointed me even more was that I attempted to bring these concerns directly to management privately before posting a public review. I sent two polite emails explaining the experience, and both were met with complete silence -- not even the courtesy of an acknowledgment or response. A little professionalism and customer service would have gone a long way.

Located right on the corner of U.S. Route 9 and Malta Ave in Ballston Spa, the outside is pretty low-key. The parking lot was a bit dark, with most of the light coming from the building itself but don't let that fool you. You walk in and you're right at the bar , with plenty of seating barside or table, if that's your vibe. Not into sitting up front? No problem, there's additional seating in the back for a more relaxed feel. Service was a win. Our waiter was courteous, attentive, and accommodating without hovering. Now the food, the Gooouda Burger caught my eye immediately. I ordered it bunless, wrapped in buttery romaine lettuce, topped with crispy bacon and fried onions. Paired it with their straw fries (seriously good) and a cold beer to wash it down. First bite? Exactly what you want. Food to temp, everything was crisp not soggy, the burger was cooked perfectly, even at well done, which is not easy to pull off. I can only speak for the burger, but based on that alone: don't judge this place by its exterior. Give it a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised. If you're looking for a great beach spot for lunch, you have to check out Dock Brown's!…read more We were in the area on vacation and this was suggested to us by the GM of a local hotel. I'm glad I decided to take her up on the suggestion, it was incredible! Dock Brown's overlooks this cute little "postcard" beach. The tables directly overlook the beach and water. The area is well-shaded and the slight breeze off the water is incredibly refreshing on a warm summer beach day! The service was impeccable from start to finish. Our server was incredibly attentive and was on top of things. He helped guide us to what is the most popular on their menu, as well as his personal favorites. We started off with Cocktails and Mocktails. We both ordered the "Honeybee". The tea, lemonade, honey, lemon, and mint concoction was incredibly flavorful and refreshing, without being overly sweet. Given I don't drink, I ordered it as a Mocktail. It was equally delicious and refreshing. The only difference was the straw and no alcohol. For lunch, I already had my mind made up after my first look at the menu. I ordered the Fish and Chips. My guest went with the Cold Lobster Roll. Both come with coleslaw and hand-cut fries. The food arrived and it made quite the impression! The portions are absolutely massive and PLENTY of food! My fish and chips was nearly falling off the plate, it had to EASILY be half a fish or more! The hand-cut fries were to die for, hands-down THE BEST I have had in my life. The side that comes with the meal is plenty, so no need to share with anyone! My guest remarked about how fresh, light, and delicious their lobster roll was. They liked that is wasn't "drowned" in mayo like you see at many other places that serve lobster rolls. She equally enjoyed the hand-cut fries and fresh coleslaw. For dessert, we ordered the house specialty: Key Lime Pie. It was out-of-this world. As a Key Lime Pie fanatic, it checked every box and hit the spot! If you're looking for a lunch with a beach view in Saratoga, you have to come by Dock Brown's. Be sure to order "The Honeybee"! I promise it doesn't sting!

I ordered the fish and chips, probably their number one seller. I'll be honest, it was more beer batter than fish...but I've had worse. The other thing we ordered was the fish taco, also a super popular dish, and that was fine, too. Overall I think the 3 star rating on Yelp is accurate. Not superb but not awful. Good place to order beer and wine and some appetizers and soak in the beautiful view.

So, you might want to check them out on Facebook before attempting to seek them out off Exit 8 of the Northway. Are they worth seeking out or stopping by if you are in the neighborhood? First of all, their menu is limited, sandwiches (chicken, burger, hot dog, sausage, egg), tenders, fries, rings, mozzarella sticks, hash browns, poppers and drinks. Maybe it'll expand in the future. My first experience was trying the Sausage, Pepper & Onion sandwich ($9) and Onion Rings ($4). Keeping in mind that I've generally made at least one annual excursion to a competitor about 2,000 feet East on this road to satisfy my sausage sandwich and onion ring craving for the last 25 years, I was curious if anything here would come close to satisfying. While we waited for our order, we spoke with the wife of the husband-and-wife team owning the food truck. Very personable people. Our food was obviously made-to-order since we waited at least 10 minutes for the carryout container to be handed to us. Opening the container at home was the first surprise. Expecting to see a sausage patty on a hamburger bun, instead we saw a long link of sausage on a section of a sub-style roll - think county-fair sausage peppers and onions. This sausage was delicious. It had good texture, flavor, and spiciness. Peppers were a combination of chopped red, yellow, and green, and the onions did not overpower. The roll was fresh and soft. This may be my new preference. The onion rings were a surprise also. The coating was thick, very crunchy, and did not fall off the onion. The other standout was that there was no oily mess. Even as they later cooled, they did not have that lingering taste of oil. There is no question that I'll be back to try something else. Parking is available behind the food truck.
