Horton, the owner of this business. Horton took a $3,500 deposit when I first placed the order (I put it on a credit card). In late October, I stopped by his shop to ask what the status of the order was. He was very much NOT happy to see me. Meanwhile, I've been calling Generac, and they've been asking for the purchase order number. The customer service rep finally called A.C.H., who refused to share the purchase order number with them. What kind of BS is that? That tells me there isn't one. This guy is heading for a civil court date, jail time, or both. Meanwhile, I'm going to call the credit card company and demand my money back.

They have replaced them twice at no charge but wouldn't replace a third time without cost. I called 704-776-9404 and spoke with the owner. While I appreciate the owner speaking calmly, he was doing everything to avoid having to replace a third time. After what felt like haggling for a bit, I asked him why he thought the same switches would go bad three times and he said "I do not know." At that point I realized he wasn't interested in helping, but just moving on. Any honest and reasonable person would guess that the switches are faulty and cheap. I told him I wasn't interested in paying for something I already paid for. He said he would try to get the builder to cover the cost. He said this while knowing that we both knew the builder would not cover the cost because of the warranty limits. He was only saying so to end the conversation. I mentioned how unfair it was to pay for something that didn't hold up to use longer than a year to which he had no suggestions. I told him I was going to write about my experience and that's when he hung up. Just flat out hung up. While I'm at a loss on this, you can avoid the same frustration and experience. Just avoid this company. Find one that installs products that last.

Had Dan Knott work on my home today. It is a 1872 Victorian townhouse in Lambertville. As you can…read moreimage, the house had some incredible wiring issues. These are issues that have given me some sleepless nights. I was worried that they were unfix-able. Dan was able to fix each and every one. He re-wired a three-switch box that was crooked, recessed, and highly dangerous. Dan coated the wires with a fire safe material, pulled out the receptacles, and made that plate as straight as could be. I had no idea you could do that with old, fabric-lined wiring and drywall. He made it look darn good. He also fixed the wiring in the mantle. This was a circa 1970s mess. He rebuilt the casing behind the wall, drilled the concrete floor, and hid that outlet perfectly. He also changed 3-4 receptacles pretty quickly. Dan had all the tools/supplies he needed. No running out to the local supply store like most have. He arrived on time. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and very informative about this old house. Yet, the best part about this experience was that Dan is a nice guy. Must have storytelling in his genes? He had me laughing. That is what you should expect when someone comes to work on your home. A pleasant person to engage with. Who wants grumpy, non-engaging, Mr. creepy to work on your home? Dan is a pleasure to work with and a good conversationlist. He made it less harrying particularly with the cost too. Even though he took the time to explain my wiring issues and told me some funny, interesting stories, he never charge me extra for his time. This was a unexpected surprise. The billing experience at the end was painless. So if you want to make what could be a really boring, harrying experience into a successful story, call Dan. You will be utterly delighted.
