A carbon copy menu that matches Nando's with their own additions of Portuguese fish dishes was a breath of fresh air. Me and my friend simply couldn't resist a jumbo platter with sweet potato fries, garlic bread and rice. The chicken was certainly very tender and wet, which gives me great first impressions of this place, seeing as I rarely get a wet chicken at Nando's anymore. The marinade however doesn't quite live up to the infamous peri peri sauce but nevertheless, the spice adds a mild kick to my liking. I wouldn't recommend the extra hot sauce as I believe it to contain far overwhelmingly vinegar than chilli, I think the ingredients may need to be tweaked for that sauce. The sides were great and delivered as expected. One very big selling point is the price and the customer service is just as good. If you still have some space in your stomach, I definitely wouldn't mind going for some of their gelato as well! Would visit again

After months and months of the place being boarded up and cleaned, it was finally revealed to be a new eatery (specialising in Portuguese food) at the end of 2014. So, as you can see from the photos, it looks pretty darn smart. Big windows, nice wooden and metal signage and clear opening hours look pretty darn inviting (especially when you consider the alternative food shops are Greggs and Dhillons fish bar next to it). Upon entering, you will notice just how clean and inviting the interior is too. On Saturday (on our return from Pirate weekend at Alton Towers) we were starving hungry. With me being on Bootcamp currently, my foodie options are limited - but I AM allowed chicken (which this place specialises in). We were greeted as we walked in and popped straight to the counter to have a look at the menu. Now, this place is essentially an independent (but much tastier, in my opinion) Nando's. You can have chicken (to a range of different heats), steaks, salads and choose from their solid selection of desserts (including Italian gelato and cake). We opted for their "Half chicken and two sides deal" to split between us. As the chicken comes in quarters, Dan went for extra hot and I went for medium. I went for a green salad as my side and Dan chose Peri-peri chips. This was all made fresh for us while we waited and had a wander around the shop. They produce their own sauces and there are options for unlimited soft drinks if you choose to sit in. Our food was ready in about 10 minutes and we eagerly took this home to eat. Our meal cost us a very fair £8.50 for everything. The chicken was really tasty (and not that hot), but I was a little disappointed that my salad came with a dressing (even though this wasn't mentioned on the menu and I wasn't asked if I wanted it). I think this would be my only complaint. Service was great, food was good and the place was clean, friendly and inviting. If I wasn't so strict with my eating options, the salad dressing wouldn't be an issue - but word to the wise, ask for your salad without if you don't like creamy sauces.

Sadly it doesn't appear to get busy, which is a shame, as the food is good and the service is also of the same calibre. The process is similar to a Subway, except you order at the till and they prep and cook it and bring it to your table. Service was fast and food was scorching hot. We had a falafel grilled flatbread (a little dry, but still hot and good), a Philly Steak (with cheese) -- tasty but drowning in sauce -- and a Kati roll (like a hand-held burrito), with a Mediterranean salad on the side. Everything came out nice and quickly but, in my humble opinion, the products get their flavour from sauce applied during or after cooking rather than from herbs or spices or marinade. We only sampled three hot products so it isn't a great sample, admittedly, but everything that had sauce on it was drowning in it. Dishes are around £4 to £6 each, and each dish is large enough to be a meal on its own. Don't be tempted to order more than a main and a side unless you're absolutely starving! We liked the ability to have food from everywhere in the world (think of this place as a small portable version of Jimmy Spice's) and as this place is on our doorstep we'll be checking back there very soon (and taking advantage of the 20% off check-in offer!).

Burger - nice but i find the burger a bit hard and the contents tend to fall out Pita - mmmmmm yummy, soft and beautiful Wrap - good but you have to pay a bit extra and you get the same amount of halloumi cheese and mushroom in it as you would in the pita option. I've tried the veggie burger and the beanie burger, but they pale in comparison. So in conclusion the Portobello Mushroom and Grilled Halloumi Cheese pita is the winner! .....although that might be due to my love of cheese. Also great for people with special dietary needs. I turned veggie 7 years ago, and this was the first meat serving restaurant i went to, so i emailed the store manager at this Shirley branch to see if they could provide me with an allergen menu, i was pleasantly surprised to get a response to be honest! The manager replied with a allergen list, but also a list of the ingredients in the sauces so i could see which ones contained egg. He also assured me that there is a separate vegetarian grill, excellent customer service....and i haven't stopped going back since.

I am a big fan of Nandos and I just love the veggie pitta, but unfortunately I often have to send it back as it is never hot enough. It is only warm. I do specify this at the time of ordering that it must be hot. It hardly ever is though. So I have to wait for burger number 2 while my husbands meal is perfect and has arrived already. Very nice staff.

Firstly, the queuing system is a total mess - you are expected to turn around a small narrow box size area making it really difficult for disabled people to queue up - it was also handled really poorly as I had to wait 10 MINUTES just to order my food. The service didn't stop there, it actually continued to get worse - the person taking my order was really slow and ended up ignoring my request to use an orange reward on my loyalty card - being gluten-free I often struggle to use rewards unless I'm with a friend so it is hard for me to use them "another time" because the rewards which qualify for either contain gluten or I don't like because they're not boneless. After getting my bill, I asked a staff member if they could refund me and take it off my reward - they said no without an apology. I was unable to use a reward as I wanted to and I don't even know if I had a chilly added onto my account as my server just continued to ignore me, even after waiting a long time to be served, and then a long time again for my food - the store didn't even seem to be able to cope with the size of the store which really affected service, so surely a relocation must be in order to a smaller store where they can actually cope? When my food finally arrived I breathed a sigh of relief hoping that the normal good quality food would outweigh my bad service to this point but it didn't - they'd given me the wrong order meaning I had to ask a staff member again to add peri-salt to my chips, as they'd given me regular. My chicken was slightly overcooked and wasn't as good as normal, and presentation could have been a little neater in line with how they're supposed to do things (putting sides in bowls etc) This store is just too big and it can't cope so everything is having an affect - yes it was busy but what I don't understand is how they struggled to cope when they weren't even full, meaning everything took longer from ordering to getting the food and everything from the service to the food quality was worse. 1*
