We had a two for one cocktail but only one because we were both driving. Followed by the Beach food platter sharer comprising of jerk chicken wings, pepper roti, sweet corn fritters & garlic n herb flatbreads. we both opted for BBQ pork belly, sweet potato fries crispy crackling sweet onion chutney with fresh green seasoning. although everything sounds & looks amazing!! The portions are not huge so we where able to manage desert, BBQ pineapple with rum caramel sauce & coconut ice cream. I had Zesty lemon & lime tart drizzled with passion fruit sauce. We plan to go back & work our way through the whole menu!!

I understand that they have only been open in Solihull for a few weeks, however what we we experienced was quite a few members of staff tripping over each other and not working in a very streamlined way. It took us quite a while to have our orders taken (around 15-20 minutes). However, the food and drinks were all lovely when they arrived and at the usual standard for Turtle Bay restaurants. I had a peanut butter and banana smoothie which I particularly enjoyed. My mother had a prawn and mango wrap with side salad which she said was lovely. I'll try this restaurant in a few months time to see if service has improved.

My friend googled their food cleanse things and was horrified to see zero rated. Summer 2019. ive just checked and its not changed. Go enjoy the garden centre - great plants and stuff.

Let's be honest, eating dinner at a garden centre usually sounds like the sort of things your parents or grandparents (depending on your age!) would do, however, this little slice of African themed heaven is a far cry from what you'd normal expect of such a place! I've not made it to Africa, though have traveled widely in Asia, and the outside felt totally authentic, being similar to bars and restaurants I've eaten in abroad. Even outside, you are sheltered from the rain, and inside, where the buffet is served, it's warm and cosy, with live music of an evening, and the most amazing spread of food. I've been a number of times since that first dinner, having returned in the day with my dog, as it's dog friendly if you're happy to sit outside - they even bring a bowl of water for our four legged friends! I've had lunch there, and the most fabulous afternoon cream tea, and cake, whilst the choice is limited, what they offer is very tasty (and I'm a fan of cake!) I loved it that much the first night, that I've refused to go there for a meal again, as I'm going for my 40th, which happens to fall on a Thursday, and looking forward to sharing the experience with close friends. The service is always friendly. It's not always super fast, as it runs on Kenyan time, so this isn't the place to go in a rush. Indeed, why would you? It's such a delightful experience that it deserves to be cherished. Oh, and the shop is pretty fab too! So yes, dog friendly, fab food, great shop and friendly service!

It's very near to Birmingham City Centre so didn't take us long to get there. Colourfully decorated, designed to remind you of Jamaica. It's best to book beforehand as it can get very busy as they can cater for large parties but the night we went wasn't too busy. The menu wasn't as extensive as I expected but I still had a choice of standard Jamaician food to choose from but my partners, who's a vegetarian wasn't spoilt for choice. This was made up for by the staff being very attentive and the owner coming round later in the evening to greet all the diners. The food was good, portions were just the right size and with the warm atmosphere I'll be there again.

An all you can eat service on the front sign warns you to book now to "avoid disappointment", although I have rarely seen it busy and usually it lies totally empty. This is perhaps due to its poor location as it is too far away for the majority of the University's students, which is a real shame. The staff at Connie's have always been friendly when I have visited and go above and beyond to ensure that our group has a good time. My knowledge of Caribbean cuisine isn't too extensive so I never stray too far from the jerk chicken which is well seasoned and really tasty. Before tucking into this I usually indulge with some fried dumplings which I love with a dash of hot sauce. If you're feeling even less adventurous, Connie's can cook you up traditional English food - cod and chips, pies, full english breakfasts, etc. Although I think it'd be a shame to visit and not enjoy some delicious Caribbean food. I find that it's a touch on the pricey side, but for a meal out with friends it's well worth a visit.

The emphasis is on producing the freshest food from all three genres, with the majority of fare being made on sight and from scratch. I have to say that I have a little bit of a soft spot for Connie's simply because it is such a novelty; however the food is not bad either. The people here are fantastic and the services on offer such as catering for events and free Caribbean delivery are always worth bearing in mind. They also offer a weekend evening buffet for eleven ninety nine and that is not very common in the Selly Oak area so it may well be the place to spice up a Friday night. Connie's has character and I hope that more people in the Selly Oak area embrace its unique charms.
