It's very near to Birmingham City Centre so didn't take us long to get there. Colourfully decorated, designed to remind you of Jamaica. It's best to book beforehand as it can get very busy as they can cater for large parties but the night we went wasn't too busy. The menu wasn't as extensive as I expected but I still had a choice of standard Jamaician food to choose from but my partners, who's a vegetarian wasn't spoilt for choice. This was made up for by the staff being very attentive and the owner coming round later in the evening to greet all the diners. The food was good, portions were just the right size and with the warm atmosphere I'll be there again.

The succulent chicken infused with alls sorts of flavoursome herbs and mix the sauce with the rice and peas and you have yourself a damn good meal to satisfy your soul. They do all of your Caribbean favourites at Portland Lagoon, Rum bread, ginger beer and some tasty cakes too. If only I could eat the stuff away from the drizzle and drabness of Birmingham to a more tropical scene, then the experience would be sublime - but for the time being I will have to enjoy it while dreaming of sunshine. Portland Lagoon is an authentic little Caribbean joint doing some tasty traditional food.

Firstly I have great respect for Clive and his lovely Wife, and most people who know them do. Portland Lagoon has been a success, and envied by a lot of individuals. The food, portion sizes, and ambience are out of this world, and portion sizes are generous, Food is great tasting, all meals, and service is great. I can't see why people can be so bad minded, ignorant, and evil. Envy plays and is a great part of peoples life, to not want to see other fellow black people flourish. Ah well people are jealous and bad minded from creation, bad minded jealous people exist, and unfortunately they will always be. In a nut shell, and for the record. PORTLAND LAGOON is God breathed, and no weapon form against PORTLAND LAGOON WILL EVER PROSPER. WHO GOD BLESS, NO MAN CAN CURSE, NO MATTER HOW HARD THEY TRY. The best Caribbean restaurant in Birmingham.
