Nando's at Peel Retail Park is located next to VUE in Blackburn's town centre. Due to being in a retail park, you can park directly outside, with free parking for up to five hours, the train station is also nearby too, so you have connections if you are unable to use a car also.
They offer halal chicken here, which seems to be the same situation at most of Nando's within 10 miles or so from this location. The nearest location offering non-halal chicken would be 13 miles away in Bury, Manchester.
I've not visited Nando's as much lately, since they changed they stopped offering mayonnaise and replaced it with a vegan alternative (Come on, they're a meat restaurant and only offer vegan mayo?), but I decided to give them a chance while visiting Blackburn, as a familiar brand after arriving into the town, hungry.
The interior of the restaurant is large, and pretty typical Nando's style, with lots of seating, including a handful of booths.
The staff seemed pretty friendly and happy to help, service was pretty fast.
I ordered a Medium Chicken Butterfly with Peri Chips, Creamy Mash and Chicken Gravy, I did find this to be a little pricey for a fast-casual chain, at £15.75, Nando's again seem to be constantly putting their prices up, but there doesn't appear to be any variation in prices between their different locations in England.
A manager processed my order at the till to make sure they could follow the allergen precautions, compared to ordering via the QR code, which is the usual way now.
My food was pretty good, while the mash was obviously reheated and seemed to be stuck together, lacking that fluffiness, the chips were hot and seasoned well with peri salt, and the chicken tasted quite good, with a generous helping of the medium peri-peri sauce, but the quality overall of the chicken could have been better.
Pretty good Nando's location overall, the location is good whether you are visiting the town of Blackburn, or just heading to the cinema next store, the staff are friendly and the food quality is OK, even though it isn't really decent value for money. 4* read more
