Subway at Burden Park is in a good location within Bolton, it is a 5-10 minute walk away from the town centre, or a couple of stops on the 8/37/524 Diamond North West Bus, from the main road outside. It is located in a small retail park which also consists of a Home Bargains, B and M, Johnstone's dry cleaners and a large ASDA store, on Manchester Road, opposite the Starbucks.
This is a regular Subway store, which is useful as many of the Subway locations within the Bolton area are halal, as far as I'm aware this is the closest and most central and accessible branch within the town which is non-halal.
Pretty average Subway in most cases, quick and friendly service, the price was also the average price I'd be used to paying - £4.89 for my gluten-free tuna, ham and cheese sub (£3.39 + £1 extra to have both tuna/ham and £0.50 extra for gluten-free bread) - I do think it's a shame they don't have a special deal for adding fillings, as if you want to make your own sub which isn't on their list, you can end up getting less value for money.
My sandwich was OK, I would have liked the ham spread around the sandwich, it seemed to be in a large thick clump, and for some reason, it didn't come out after being toasted, as hot as other stores, but my sandwich still was fine.
The drinks machine worked fine and had all of the regular drinks on tap you'd expect to find at Subway, this is better than the Subway store at the BP Petrol Station nearby which only had Pepsi Max.
3* - Decent Subway location, and one I will return to, yet far from the best Subway location. read more
