This place is awesome! I took my dog there this Saturday for a bath, nail clip, ear clean etc. she usually is very uncomfortable when strangers approach her, but not with the Nancy and her crew! I was so surprised how chill my dog was around them. It just shows that they really do love dogs and enjoy what they do! Nancy's pet parlor is a Brick & Mortar, Ma & Pa establishment, if You are the type of person who has pre-determined expectations, based on no actual personal experience, then I definitely would not recommend taking advantage of these kind people. I really cannot not help but chuckle at how arrogant, entitled, and just flat out uneducated the negative reviewers on here are. From common knowledge, you drop your dog off at the groomers early in the morning, and you pick them up in the afternoon, comparable to an average school child. On a rare occasion, you may get a phone call for an early release. But expecting that your fur baby is their sole priority from the moment they take them from you until the time you get them is foolish. The real problem is you are sitting around with nothing to do. Asking them to groom your pet requires the use of sharp objects, regardless of their technique, instances of minor cuts, rashes, scratches and bleeding Will occur. Groomers are not anesthesiologists, your dogs are awake during the grooming process and moving about much more erratically then when they are home with you. But while they are home with you, you should at least Once in your lifetime, buy trimmers and attempt the groom or shave your own dog. Because once you have, you will learn to appreciate the time and patience it takes to groom your pet, and you will never again in your lifetime complain to any groomer about time, their ability to hypnotize your dog into an immobile position which is perfect for grooming, or cost of. Which in this case, is already cheap and affordable to Everyone. My 15 lb jack russell terrier takes me 30 minutes just to wash her in the tub, another 30 to brush and blow dry her. IF i wear the shave her winter coat off for summer, 2-3 hours. sometimes longer because i have to let the clippers cool, because her skin is sensitive. Now my Australian Shepard to shave from a medium coat to skin would personally take me likely a solid 3 hours. and another hour of just cleaning up afterwards and then trying to salvage the clothes i wore to shave her into the laundry. Basically, an average human being with no experience grooming their own pets would be faced with an impossible fleet, that would require their sole attention over the span of an entire day or more. You could't pay me twice their rate to groom my own dogs! All that extra stress, hair cleanup mess, bathing, drying, EXPRESSING ANAL GLANDS, time consumption, mental anxiety, etc, etc, etc, is all worth whatever rate they invoice me. and in regards to infections of wounds, etc. As a responsible pet owner, you would not have dropped your dog at the groomers IF it hadn't been up to date on your pets' Bordetella vaccine. It is your responsibility as Mommy or Daddy to do whatever BASIC first aid wound care for the few hours following to apply anti-inflammatory ointment, or place a "cone of shame" on pet, so not to irritate further, or infect from its own bacteria. So if you're looking for a Safe and an Affordable groomer, Nancy's Pet Parlor hands down! Reliable, friendly, and kind. Drop your dog off and enjoy a morning and afternoon all for yourself. Nancy and her staff our very professional and she did a fabulous job with grooming both my little mini tea cup chihuahua and also groomed my husky. This was the first time I have used her for my pets groomers and so glad we did. She knows her stuff and how to handle each dogs specific breed. I learned a few things from her that day. My husky can be a little wild at times but she was patient with him and did an excellent job. His coat was super smooth and due to his summer shedding she made his coat look evenly combed after his bath. I cannot wait to tell my friends and family to call Nancy up. UNPROFESSIONAL It's sad that after all these years (over 8 years!) of going to Nancy's I will have to end it with a negative review. But the truth must be told. The other reviews are true: Nancy can be a mean bitter old lady. But she does a decent job on haircuts. Sometimes CUTS your dog on accident but won't own up to it. They cut my angie's paw once and it got infected. I had to pay over $150 at the vet to take care of it. When I told Nancy, she denied cutting too close. Really unprofessional. Nancy also changes her fees without telling you before dropping off your pet. I used to pay $30 then sometimes she would raise it to $35 and when I asked why the change in price she would give me different excuses like, "that's always been our rate" or "your dog was really difficult" or "it's because you're late we have to charge a late fee" she denies she taxed me for being late but why would I lie? Well today, when I asked her how much a haircut and bath would be she said $40! I asked again why the sudden raise? She said that it's been that price since last september and that my dog is a hard dog to cut because she's so matted and big. I said, "ANGIE'S BIG?!" My poodle is an 8 pound poodle! $40 is a lot especially because I always give a $5 tip- that's almost as much as my own salon visits! And I don't even go anymore because of the economy! After I booked the appointment Nancy called me right back. Told me to go to Petsmart and said she didn't want to do Angie anymore and hung up on me! So unprofessional. That last incident was the last straw. I'm a business owner myself and customer service is key. Advice to Nancy: Post your prices up so that customers are aware of the fees. If you accidently knick the pet let the owners know instead of trying to pretend it didn't happen. And SMILE even when you don't agree, one unhappy customer will tell others. read more

I have been use Nancy for the past few years, I didn't have any problem with the price going up every time I go there, even last Saturday I was charged $90 for my 60 pound golden's summer cut....the thing bothered me is I found 2 big cut underneath her neck the next day which was bleeding at the time for sure. When I went to pick my dog up Nancy only told me that she took a big chunk of her hair off on her back (because you will notice it right away) and I told her no worries just hair and they will grow back.... But it was NOT ok to cut my dog to bleed and not telling me, I only ask to be notified so I can keep eyes on her in case anything happen. Very unimpressed with this place to say the least. I dropped off my dog and about an hour later received a call that they would not be giving him a haircut and that they just bathed him. they stated that this was because my dog was attempting to bite them as they were trying to brush him. I understand them not wanting to go through with the haircut after this, however this is my dogs fifth time being groomed (first time by this salon) and no one else has ever complained of him being aggressive at all. i am not sure if they are just not very good at handling dogs when they get skittish, but regardless this is the first time i've experienced anything like this. Nancy was very rude to me during the phone call and when I came to pick up my dog, complaining about why didn't i tell them my dog would try to bite them (how could i, when he never tried to bite any of the groomers before you). They would not even let me see my dog until I paid them for the service that they never completed. like i told them, i could have just bathed him at home by myself for free. do not bring your animals here! customer service is just as poor as the handling skills. i would not have even left this review if they did not force me to pay for an incomplete service! read more

Having discovered Nancy off the internet, I decided to take both my Cocker Spaniels to her for grooming. For the first time she was very nice and took the time to get to know them. Second time Nancy complained a little saying how much extra time it took to groom them. Third time before grooming she complained even more and said she was going to have to charge more. This last and final time she really started to complain at which I finally said, I don't know what you want me to say or do. I was ready to leave when her son who is really nice intervened and said not to worry, they would take good care of my dogs. Of course she charged me even more and later when I was picking up my, dogs she apologized. I'll never take my dogs there again! You don't speak to customers that way. read more

You do not live in Beverly Hills...this is the I.E. and Nancy puts 110% into each dog she grooms. She is not a bitter old woman---her and her husband have always been so welcoming. You all have to understand that when they're overwhelmed with so many dogs, they can't sit there with you to have a 15 minute conversation to ensure that everything is going to be okay with your dog---TRUST ME. NANCY IS AMAAAAZING! I have been going to Nancy for 4 years, going on 5, ever since we got my Cocker Spaniel, Bruno. I had a male Yorkshire Terrier, Cooper, and she always did an amazing job with his hair cut. Cooper didn't make it past 7 months due to an attack from a neighbor's dog but we soon got another yorkie---a female this time, Daisy. Nancy and her husband do nothing but an amazing job for both my dogs. If your dogs are well socialized, she does let them run loose so that they can socialize. I absolutely love this! I also love the fact that they make you feel more than just customers. When my Cooper passed, Nancy was so sympathetic and every time I had questions or advice about the dogs, she was more than happy to help me out. Thank you Nancy...& husband! Using the Internet for research can often be a very valuable tool. That is, until someone with a vindictive nature and a seriously bad attitude sits down in front of their keyboard and decides they are just gonna let loose on some unsuspecting person or business. After reading negative comments left by other reviewers my only thought is these people are mean-spirited and had nothing better to do with their time than take their crappy day out on someone else. Nancy has been grooming my dogs since I moved to Diamond Bar in 1995. Finding a dog groomer is just as hard, probably even harder, than looking for a new hair stylist for yourself. A leap of faith has to be taken for the first visit and then you hope and pray it all works out. With Nancy's professional experience, her service has always worked out. Over the years, she has groomed my parent's toy Poodle, my mom's two Pomeranian's, and our two Yorkie's. And naturally, her prices have gone up over the years! Why wouldn't they? Her expenses, licensing and store rent have probably quadrupled over the past twenty years, but her pricing hasn't quadrupled, its remained quite reasonable. In 1995 her price for a full bath and clip service on the Poodle was $18. Her price for a full service on the Yorkie is now about $40. If her prices were to keep up with the economy and cost of living, she'd probably have to charge twenty bucks more for each service. But she knows she can't do that and still keep a clientele. People, she is not in business as a favor to the world, she's trying to make a living! It seems completely understandable that she is going to book as many pets as she can handle in one day. If she turns away a client, she runs the risk of losing that client forever. If you were in business, would you turn down a job or paying customer? Nancy has her family now working for her. Not only does that help keep her costs down, but she is able to operate the business the way she has designed it over the past three decades. More importantly, she does not have to worry about employees trying to steal away her customers or moving in and take over her shop. Competition is fierce for any small, family-owned business. No doubt finding experienced groomers who would be completely loyal and honest is nearly impossible. So why not have your husband and son work there? At least they won't bad-mouth you, or rob you blind, and they have a vested interest in making sure the business is the best. I remember when Nancy used to have employees working for her. Those girls were okay, but they were just hired hands, not family. They relied on Nancy for their paychecks but didn't have Nancy's back. They also didn't have the responsibility or any interest of keeping a business afloat. Back then, I was always so much happier when I knew Nancy was the one who was personally working on my dogs. In all these years, and with all the different personality of dogs that I have taken to her shop, no injury to any of my pets has ever happened. She and her family are animal owners and lovers and would never intentionally harm any pet in their care. Think about this: they have customers who neglect their animals, leaving them ungroomed so long that their hair is so matted, full of stickers and burrs that the only way to save the animal from pain is to use the clippers. These owners bring the animal in and expect Nancy to fix months of neglect in one grooming. Then Nancy gets blamed for taking too long, or for hurting the animal.... all so that same owner can go home and sit at their computer and bring out their poison pen. Yes, accidents can happen. Yes, clipper nicks can happen. If this job was so damn easy we would all be grooming our own animals!! But when our Pomeranian's hair was too thick to comb without causing pain, Nancy was the one who spoke up and suggested clipping rather than brushing. All to save the animal of having pain! Not because it was easier or quicker for Nancy, the grooming took the same amount of time. It was because she couldn't stand hurting the dog just for unnecessary combing. I am writing this review while I'm waiting for Nancy's Pet Parlor to call me to come pick up my Yorkie. I know when I do I will be happy with the results, happy to know the dog is safe and has been treated with caring hands, and glad to know Nancy's will still be there in another month when I need to bring my dog back. My recommendation is that if you live, work, or commute in or around Diamond Bar, give Nancy's Pet Parlor a try one time. If you're not happy, okay fine, find another groomer. But my guess is, you will be happy with her pet grooming service and professionalism, your pet will look great, and you will be calling Nancy's back a month after that to make another appointment. read more

I think it's time for an updated review of this place, as the latest one is 1.5 years ago. Here's the thing, Nancy is pretty much solo-ing this place, and she has her family and a few other employees there to help out. But she takes charge of doing most of the work for each dog. That being said, she takes on as many as she can, but she is human, after all. It takes her about 5 hours or so to finish my mini-poo, but I'm confident she hasn't taken 1 minute of rest during that time. She works her very hardest, and I think she does a pretty good job grooming my dog. I rarely have complaints in my 2 years with her. I read all these other reviews about her attitude, and I think she's improved a lot. Her husband (I think), Michael, answers the phone and deals with customers now, so you don't have to worry. She does a good job with dogs, so I think that's how she should be judged. About your dog getting accidentally nicked, I think that's a product of her intense schedule. She is so swamped most of the time. My dog got nicked maybe twice, and nothing bad, so I can't really say much, except that recently she hasn't nicked at all. So as a conclusion, I give her 4 stars because she really is a good groomer, though her methods could improve. I feel she should loosen up her schedule so she has time to be extremely careful with each dog, but she does fine with her situation right now. Also, her store has cleaned up since I first went to her, so that's good. This shop is really not as bad as these reviews paint it to be. I hope people will give it another chance, because her price is still the cheapest at 40-42 dollars. Other places charge me at least 45, and much more if there are a lot of knots. She might pick up extra helpers if she gets enough business, which will solve the whole "not careful" thing. read more

I've taken my cat there about five times. Each time was a great experience. Great service, more than fair prices, and done in a couple hours... My cat was happy going in and leaving the place. Good cut, clean and smelled good. As requested, this time they even shaped my cat to look like a lion, as hahaha. I have been going to Nancy's Pet Parlor for over 20 years. She has professionally groomed my Maltese with top knots fit to be AKC shown in dog shows. She is the most compassionate and competent groomer I have ever met in my 30 years of owning Maltese dogs. My four that have known her over the years get happy when they are going to"Nancy's". She is family as far as we are concerned. Nancy has been consistent and extremely fair in her prices. Not every groom is the same price as size, cut, and condition of the coat is TBD. read more
