We've been going to the Vineyard for 10 years, and Nancys has always been a trip staple. This year, however, we were left very dissatisfied. We waited over 40 minutes for two drinks, and had one of our ID's confiscated and the police called to check it's validity. It took over an hour to get the ID back, and while we ended up getting the ID holder a drink, nothing was comped and no apologies were given. **Waterfront view** The view here is beautiful, it sits right on the water and you can choose your seat, grab a drink, grab some food, and see at the humongous boats and watch the sunset. I have been coming to MV for 5 years now, and Nancy's is always the first place I go. By the time I get to the vineyard, I'm usually starving and need food ASAP. Nancy's is the easiest spot to get food and has the best view. I've never sat inside to eat and ordered off the sit down menu, I always go to the walk up window and order from the outdoor menu and sit at the picnic tables near the water. Get the lobster roll and and the chowder, those are my favs. Now this is not the best lobster roll on the vineyard but it's a decent starter one. The Greek platter is good too if you're not feeling like seafood. If the tiki bar is open outside, you need to get a frozen drink from there too. The line is usually long, but it goes quick. We ate lunch at Nancy's on 6/20/24. Pros: wait staff were pleasant and professional; the shrimp and grits meal was very good. Cons: the fish in the fish and chips meal needed a knife to cut through it - it was so overcooked; best way to describe their Ceasar salad with lobster is ceasar soup (it was swimming in dressing) with a small dollop of lobster. Stopped by here for dinner on a Friday night after getting some recommendations and the food and service were amazing. I ordered a lobster roll with mixed greens (which was drizzled with oil and vinegar) and a side of fries. The bread on the lobster roll was PERFECT. I also really like bread in general and wish they served a bread basket or something haha. The lobster meat was also very generous and prepared very well. The fries were excellent too as they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - exactly how I like them. Our waiter Steve was very attentive to our needs and the tables around us that he served too. Overall the vibe was cozy yet lively and family friendly too. Next time I visit Martha's Vineyard, I def will be eating at Nancy's again. I sat in the take out area with a huge picnic table outdoor seating area that has the best view of the harbor and gingerbread houses. The lobster roll was everything! I get it that it's a tourist spot and understand you have to capitalize on the season, but it's possible you can cook better food. Anyway I have NO intention of ever returning to this restaurant. After 3x and disappointments every time, it's not worth it (unless you go for their bottled beer and fried calamari ) The server and manager tried to convince me no one has ever complained about this dish, I didn't think that information was helpful. There are many reasons why Nancy's Snack Bar is famous, one of them being President Obama comes here whenever he's at Martha's Vineyard and the other reasons being: food, booze and atmosphere. Yes, in that order! ;-) During the summer when we had the pleasure to watch the Brazil vs. Colombia match here, the girls dined on fresh oysters, drank beer (gin n tonic for me!) and fried calamari. The seafood is so fresh here, the house drinks cheap and strong and the staff are so friendly like you've known them for a long time. Of course, THE drink of choice on the island (mind you, it's a very small island) is the DIRTY BANANA. It's like a banana flavored milkshake, the glass is coated with chocolate but it's a creeper. Beware of having more than two, you'll be giggly the whole day through! (yeah, I went there, I just made a rhyme) I've only been here once but the fresh seafood, fresh salty ocean breezes and relaxed vineyard ambiance are the ingredients that make for an unforgettable New England summer fun. I loved going to Nancy's, which is allegedly one of Obama's favorite places to eat. It had a lovely ambience overlooking the water and our server was very friendly. Nancy's is a must , bc well it's a staple of MV . I'm very unlikely to order a stuffed Quahog at most places due to the fact that most are just non flavored stuffing . This one however is the exception . It's so good and so flavorful . The Calamari I would not recommend , it was way too over fried . Nancy's is an institution. It's the first place I go, when I arrive in the Vineyard and the last place I go before I leave. It's the most happening spot on the marina. The deck is usually packed, when the weather is good. The cool thing about Nancy's is it's as if you're visiting four restaurants in one. You can eat on the patio and enjoy the views of the marina. You can eat in the oyster bar, which is covered by a roof, but has seating that faces the marina. You can go upstairs and eat indoors Or you can dine on the upper level deck. The menu is vast enough to fit all taste buds: Seafood, sandwiches, salad, finger foods and even a Middle Eastern section. The most fun part of the experience is the frozen drinks at Donovan's Reef. He comes to Martha's Vineyard seasonally just to serve frozen drinks. Ask for the Dirty Banana. It's very refreshing and oh so dirty! Every time I've visited Nancy's, I have enjoyed my food.
