Yet after my first deep cleaning in 2019, I was never offered another one -- not once. No treatment plan. No referral to a periodontist. No options. Just the same story each year: "Probably aging or genetics." Cleanings and exams were rushed. Questions were brushed off. And it became clear over time that this practice, like many in-network offices, is more concerned with what insurance will reimburse than with what patients actually need. I was never even given the option to pay out of pocket for optimal care. When I finally pushed for another deep cleaning in 2025, the dentist said yes -- reluctantly -- but immediately emphasized the cost, said insurance wouldn't cover much, and offered to deep clean just a few teeth. That made no clinical sense considering the condition of my mouth. I later saw a periodontist who confirmed what I had suspected: I should've had full-mouth deep cleanings long ago. I had several deep pockets and many more borderline areas. In their words, it made no sense to numb a patient just to deep clean a few isolated teeth. In my opinion, this dentist negligently let my oral health deteriorate for years. The lack of proactive care, the insurance-first mindset, the bare-minimum approach -- all of it cost me time, money, and gum tissue. I've since moved on to an out-of-network dentist who treats comprehensively, not just what's billable. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you care about your long-term health.

Also, I'm disabled & have a 17# Service Dog. I called ahead and they allowed my dog (Lucky) to accompany me. I needed some major, deep cleaning & several lil fillings here & there throughout my mouth. This was to be done in 2 appointments. Well, they were able to get it all done in 1Day! With no issues!! Lucky did awesome w/all the noises and the water spraying out of my own mouth- that was the only time he had to turn around and not face me. The water was spraying a bit on him.But Lucky could sense my anxiety & he readjusted. He laid on my lap with a blanket. I pet/touched him the whole time (helps calm my anxiety & reduces my panic attacks) thru the entire dental procedure. We both did great! I'm not scared of the dentist. I'm not scared of the drill. What I'm scared of is that I'm a mouth breather & my sinuses are screwed. It's hard for me to breathe and when they're working in your mouth- if you're a mouth breather, it causes me to panic. I'm scared of the pain & not knowing the cause... & how will the pain be resolved? How many teeth will I lose?... Happy to report: They took very good care of me. Explained each step along the way & continued checking in w/me, (& Lucky!) if I was "ok?" They were so polite and kind. They even played special music for us. (helps my ADHD & calms me) They were very encouraging & supportive. (& they loved Lucky! & they were surprised how well he did considering the high pitch noises & getting a lil water on his cute face. But I'm proud of him! I'm proud of me. We made it thru!! And... Bonus!! we don't have to go back until 4 months! That's the best news of all!! We canceled next week's appt bcuz they were able to get E V E R Y T H I N G done IN 1 appt! (The plan was 2 visits for what I needed done.) 1 less visit = 1 less day of feeling panic, anxiety, nervousness and fear! The next appt in 4 months is for a general cleaning @ follow-up. It's a wonderful office & staff! Very kind, passionate & patient staff- from phone call to front desk to getting your x-rays done. I have not a single complaint. Especially being physically disabled w/mental health disability as well. It seems that they really do care, they don't treat u like a heard of cattle. It feels genuine. I even hugged Dr. Becky! I do not know if they do pediatric patients but definitely adults. Bottom Line: Highly Recommend!!! So thankful for how well Carlmont Dental Care treated us & resolved my dental needs! ** Final sidenote: if you have a Service Animal, call ahead & let them know because there could be somebody who's allergic. They do still have a front desk person - Sasha - and said the tablet person is only used when Sasha is out of the office/at lunch. Sasha even called me to make this clear, apologize for the negative experience I had, and confirm that the credit is coming. From the front of the office to the exam chairs at the back, the people in the office CARE. Although they are still part of the Total Health system, I will remain a satisfied patient of Dr. Ben.
