Dental care beyond the call of duty! I'd been having a toothache for 10 days but of course it intensified on a Saturday morning. It felt painful to close my mouth and I dreaded waiting until my Monday morning appointment. So I called their office knowing they're closed on the weekend but was able to call Dr. Held on the emergency number that's on their voicemail message. I called him and explained my symptoms, and he said to meet him at the office at 1 o.m. Awesome! Where else do you get such caring service? He examined me and diagnosed a fractured tooth. He did a temporary treatment which helped the pain and I'll see him on Monday for a crown. I truly appreciate his helping me. I've been coming here for 10 years and they're the BEST! Dr. Lau was also in the office and assisted him. I felt bad about having him come in on a beautiful Saturday but he didn't make me feel guilty, he's a caring professional. Exceptional service. Karin, Cami, and Brittany are amazing!! They make me feel so welcomed each time I go in. Cami took great X-rays on me and made me feel so comfortable. Karin, one of the hygienists, is very thorough and gentle with my teeth, especially after having corrective jaw surgery. And Brittany is ON TOP OF IT with all the front desk duties! One of the best experiences I've ever had in a medical office in my entire life. Dr. Zachary is incredibly empathetic - he took my pain seriously and I did not feel belittled or stupid or anything for being very anxious and scared. I was crying just thinking about someone putting tools into my mouth, and the staff there was incredibly accommodating. The assistant assisting Dr. Zachary even made an attempt to distract me from nervousness by asking me questions that she knew would take my mind off of the pain - and it worked. I am so grateful that I had this experience and absolutely would recommend this business to anyone and everyone. Was introduced to Zach and Jamie by a mutual friend upon moving to the bay area in 2006, and went to them every six months without fail until I left in 2017. They are friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to accomodate minor schedule deviations that inevitably result from the awful bay area traffic. I lived in sf and would often drive nearly an hour to see them because the hygienists are friendly and well trained and the doctors are caring and personable. They were very helpful in identifying the right treatment (grafting) for a tricky gum issue caused by brushing too hard in a sensitive area previously compromised by orthodontic treatment. Their referral was fantastic. They were also ahead of the pack in adding tv, Wi-Fi and other user enhancements. Can't say enough good things ! read more

UPDATE!! I love my dentist!! I bet there aren't that many people who can say this. Anyway~ this time around, I went with no dental insurance. They knew this and was very honest about the pricing and was up front about it. There were no weird hidden costs. It was way more affordable than I thought it would be. I had my digital xrays taken, had my teeth checked by Dr. Held, and then got my teeth polished and cleaned. No cavities again. YAY!!! Dr. Held and Dr. Lau are hands down the best dentists ever! They are both very knowledgeable, kind, thorough, and generous with their time. I love them! The quality of care is top notch. In the 8+ years I have been going to them, they have often gone above and beyond. For my wedding, they gave me a free polish, and when I lost my temporary bridge retainer last minute, they squeezed me in their tight schedule to make a replacement, so I could have the perfect smile for my wedding photos. Also, the staff is great. Cindy, the receptionist, is fabulous, and the hygienists have a great bed side manner and are very friendly. First off I have to tell you that going to the dentist scares the heck out of me. I had to have a crown a filling and some other work done. My doctor, Dr. Eve Lofthus, was awesome!!!!! I felt little pain or discomfort. The work was great and I left feeling and looking so much better. The plus was the she was so warm and friendly all my anxiety went out the window right away. Dr. Held and Dr. Lau offer the best dentist care around! The staff is warm and professional, creating a feeling of confidence in your treatment. But there is also a lot of humor going around, which can offer a pleasant distraction from the occasional discomfort one might experience at the dentist. There office is super nice- with ceiling mounted Televisions for every dentist chair! Cindy at the front desk keeps everything running super smoothly and always knows who you are when you walk in the door. Dr Held is gentle and honest- he is not going to push you into anything, or rush you through a procedure. You are always made to feel accommodated and respected. And if it matters to you [and I hope it does], they are also a totally "green" dentist office- taking care to not use harsh chemicals, etc, and doing their part not to hurt the environment. I hate going to the dentist. There is nothing pleasant about getting my teeth cleaned but their staff is super friendly and made me feel really comfortable. They chased after my old x-rays from my last dentist and they went outside to make sure my car didn't get ticketed after 2 hrs. The Dental Hygienist actually stayed after closing hrs to finish cleaning my teeth. Their receptionist even called me the next day to make a follow up appointment and explained to me how much everything would cost. She told me what my insurance limit was and they would monitor it to make sure I don't go over so I don't have to pay out of pocket for what is not covered. WHAT??? I have been to many dentists through my years and all I have to say is wow. I went home and told my hubby to switch over the next day. Being someone who does not like going to dentist it is such a gift to have Dr Held an Lau to go to. We are family of 5 and they take great care of us. Both have great skill and compassion and make us feel more relaxed than other practices we have been to over the years. When my daughter broke both of her front teeth off in accident on skate board they where able to see her next day and rebuilt her front teeth beautifully. He was also able to fix back tooth that I thought for sure would need a crown but he was able to save it with much skill and knowledge. The office staff (Cindy) is amazing and professional. We moved over an hour away last year but we still come to them as we trust this office and staff and Drs. too much to leave. The are professional, skilled and take excellent care of us. read more
