Dr. Mendoza is one of the best dentist I've ever been to. I have been going to him for the almost 10 yrs and although I moved out of state. I try to book my appointments with him because of how great he has been for all of my dental work. First thing I must say is the walk into Dr. Mendoza's office is the immaculate professional waiting room. Second of all the wait amazing no more than ten minutes or less to go to my appointment. The professional woman at the front desk always polite and always so nice. But one thing that I saw was their bathroom absolutely beautiful and cleaned to a shine. I would not recommend this place. I am currently on an hmo plan. The first time I visited, the receptionist said they couldn't take my insurance. She was pretty discouraging and judgmental on hmos. Looking back, this is something they should have verified via phone call before having me commute to the office. However, I had them call my insurance and it turned out that they did accept my plan. They took me in that day and I received care. One week later I received two letters in the mail and I was being charged over 200 for a dental cleaning and xray (covered by my insurance). The insurance is only required to pay a certain amount and per the insurance I am not supposed to be getting charged at all for these services. The next time I went to the office, the same receptionist was there and I spoke with her. She pretty much said "You know how hmo plans can be cheap". I had her call them and she said she couldn't get through (there is a way to get through). Since I was already there, I took a panoramic. After the panoramic, I wanted to schedule for a wisdom tooth extraction. The same receptionist said she would schedule me for a date far ahead because she wasn't sure about my insurance. They also made me sign a form and collected my credit card information to charge me for the first appointment expenses (that I shouldn't have to owe in the first place). I received two more later post-appointment and now I'm getting charged nearly $570 for the first appointment and the panoramic x ray. Per the insurance I should only be paying for the panoramic. Also they left a voicemail saying they'll no longer take my insurance and that I would have to pay out of pocket for any future appointments including the extractions. Dentists shouldn't be allowed to change their accepted plans mid way through the year (but that's my opinion). I am disappointed and feeling discouraged from going to dentists again. People shouldn't feel judged for their insurance and this practice should be better about their communication and transparency. read more

I'm writing this review 30+ years later. I was 7 maybe 8 when he was our family dentist. The memories I have of Dr. Mendoza have stuck with me now as an adult and shattered the trust I have on dentist for most of my life. Every procedure I had with him including cavity fill was excruciating. The memories I have of me then a 7 years of age telling him I felt pain and being ignored is vivid in my head. The screaming and yelling and kicking while being ignored and being restrained ; emotionally shattered me for many years as a child. I felt violated. I would talk to mom about it and my mom would in return talk to him and he would reassure her that everything was fine all meanwhile she was never in the room while procedures were taking place. It was a horrifying. A violation of child protection and he should not be in practice, especially treating children. I'm now 40 years old and I have a missing molar that he recommended be removed to a 7 year old! That day that my molar was removed was a day from hell, agonizing and emotionally scarring. I was restrained all meanwhile I felt every crack and pull as a matter a fact I was screaming and trying to get away that my molar cracked in two and He told his assistant you need to hold her stronger and the experience still haunts me now which is why I wanted to share my story in hope other parents will read and never bring their children to see Dr. Mendoza. I never felt an ounce of sympathy or care when I was being treated. It was very transactional. In my eyes he was there to hurt me and cause harm. I have children now and I'm very cautious about their dental experience and always ask to be in the room when procedures are being done. I've had different dentist throughout my life after we stopped going to Dr. Mendoza and I have never had a bad experience and a child should never have one too. Let's just say I've been a bit neglectful of my dental care for quite some time. I was the victim of a violent crime on 3/18/20. Yes, one day before the lockdown that changed the world. Having lost several teeth in the attack, masks were great. But more than three years on I'm ready to smile again and these people have been wonderful. They've been kind, courageous and very helpful. He's in it for the money, constantly suggesting unnecessary and sometimes expensive procedures (crowns, braces, endodontics, etc.). When coming in for dental cleanings, Mendoza would always delegate tasks to unqualified subordinates who were clueless as to which aftercare instructions the patient needed to follow. Constantly kept me coming back due to his incompetence and lack of proper care. Curiously enough, Mendoza would always insist on the most invasive treatment possible so long as he stood to benefit from it. For instance, instead of treating damaged molars with a simple filling, he was adamant about the need for a crown (from him, of course). Wary, I consulted another dentist who promptly recognized a simple filling would suffice. That particular episode was the last straw. Fed up with his cash-grabbing antics, I jumped ship and switched to another practice in San Carlos. Good luck, and look elsewhere! I only give one star because I can't give zero! read more

I decided to visit this office because of the good reviews. My review is based solely on the dishonesty and bad attitude of Gloria-Office Manger I called this practice and informed them I was looking to have my wisdom teeth removed and send them my Pano.x-rays. Gloria informed me this is something Dr.Daniel could do. I show up to my apt. Seemed like they never bother to look at my X-rays... Dr.Daniel sees me for about 2-3 minutes and tells me he would refer me out because he couldn't do the wisdom extraction... and referred me out... Gloria made it sound as if this was something Dr.Daniel could do for me when I booked my apt. I went ahead and called her and spoke to her very respectfully and told her that my insurances should not be billed for that 2-3min. Visit since they were dishonest about the services Dr. Daniel can perform. Gloria got extremely defensive and has a terrible attitude. I must admit Dr.Daniel seemed like a nice man! But, I think a new office manager is something they should consider! My one star is because 0 isn't an option. I was extremely disappointed! Will be reaching out to my insurance as well! read more

I was a patient here for 3 years, always had good experiences here. So, many of the reviews on yelp I believe it's true reviews. When I was unemployed back in 2017, I went to a dentist place in North San jose, people there said my teeth need deep cleaning which required cut the gum then do the cleaning and they were trying to charge me more than 2000 dollars. I didn't do it of course. By the way, they lure you with a lower priced clean. Here a young doctor did my first clean and explained that although there were stuff under the gum, but deep clean was not necessary. I knew that is something come out of a professional not a scammer. Also I was surprised doctors sometimes do cleaning as well. Now I moved back to San jose, spending hours to find another dentist office while missing here. read more

Dr Mendoza is my dentist for years. He is very caring, take time to explain any questions I have and recommend procedure if needed. His hygienist Ericka was so nice to me today, she was taking extra time to clean my teeth, checked one of my problem tooth, took x-ray and even getting second opinion from other dentist. I have been a faithful client of Dr. Mendoza since I was about 5 years old. I moved to Sacramento in 2000 and I refuse to find a local dentist! I make the 2 hour drive to see him for my cleanings. I've had fillings done there, and I recently got a root canal/crown put in with NO PAIN. He has gentle hands and is very thorough in his appointments. He is very approachable and nice when answering all my questions. The staff is so nice too! Gloria has been working there for a VERY long time and always greets me with a smile. My 4-year-old niece was scared when I took her to her first cleaning, but Gloria and Dr. Mendoza were VERY patient when she didn't want to open her mouth. She finally opened her mouth and they both kept her calm throughout the procedure. read more

Wow, if it wasn't for the gauze and stitches in my mouth I would be shouting their praises. Everyone in this facility and practice are top notch and very caring. I called in last minute yesterday at 4:30pm to inform them of a toothache. I then asked if I could come in around 5:20pm and they said yes. Dr. Mendoza saw me within 10 minutes of my arrival. Knowing I had to get an extraction, I asked when it could be done and was told the next day (today) if I'd like. I booked it and today I saw Dr. Lopez who performed the extraction and got finished within 23 minutes!!! I mean, really? They got me home in time to see the next episode on TV! I wanted to like this dental office. I saw Dr. Mendoza for over six years. I just never felt they cared. Dr. Mendoza is super nice. He just never seemed to care enough. He actually started a root canal on my husband and ended up pulling the tooth we thought that odd that he went through 2 hours in the chair and ended up pulling the tooth? Great Dentist...........office staff sucks. Made an appt. to continue work on my teeth and specifically asked if I could make payments on my portion of the bill that my insurance did not cover. Young lady's answer was "yes". I drove in from San Jose a few days later and was told, "the computer" says I will not be allowed to see the dentist until I pay in full the amount owed. When I explained that I had already made payment arrangements, all I got was a "i'm sorry" and some blank stares. Dr. Mendoza, heads up! your staff is costing you customers! He has been the main and only Dentist for my two girls. We have been treated with respect and the entire staff at Dr. Mendoza's office are fantastic. Had my wisdom teeth taken out this past Monday. I was extremely nervous because I hate needles, surgeries, and have a very low pain tolerance. Anyways, Dr. Mendoza made me feel so comfortable by explaining to me what to expect before,during, and after the procedure. Not to mention, the service is excellent and the price is very affordable! For each tooth extraction (they were not impacted, but already broken through the gum surface), it was about $160ish each. I did a lot of comparative shopping and other dentists wanted to charge between $400-$600/PER TOOTH!I was given local anesthetic, experienced hardly any pain, and could eat solid food within less than a few hours. I was in need of a new dentist since moving to this area. Both my boyfriend and myself had routine cleanings and I appreciated that they offered Saturday appointments. The staff was courteous and attentive and was very accomodating even though I was running late. I also told the hygienist that I had an aversion to Denists that almost borderlined on phobia of them ! She was very understanding and made the experience more soothing for me. The waiting area was small but clean and there were plenty of chairs and magazines. I didn't have to wait but a few minutes to be seen. The Dentist made sure to shake my hand as I left the office and that left a good impression. Great dentist. Doctor Mendoza has been our dentist for many years. He and his staff work with you, get you in for an appointment within a short time. He never tries to sell you on something you don't need. His procedures are super clean, sterile,, and caring. I went to Dr. Medoza for 20 plus years. Then, I moved to the East Bay and started using a different dentist. They were nice but did not feel comfortable with them as much as I have felt at Dr. Medoza's office. I ended up moving back to them.
