There were other offices who recommended more expensive/unnecessary treatment and Dr. Schabel was able to assess and determine that those were not needed for me, saving me thousands of dollars. -Payment options were clear and they had so many different options for different budgets. -I was quoted 14 weeks for my Invisalign and that's exactly what it took to fix my teeth. We never received a reminder call the day before and by the time I got home, it was too late to call them, so I called the day of the appointment. All it did was ring. I tried calling the Aptos office and got a busy signal. I tried three different times, calling both offices with no luck. Since the number they called from was the office in santa cruz I took a chance and headed there. What a surprise we got. Dr. Connolly was no longer at that location and hadn't been for a over a month. I called the aptos office and the receptionist asked how she could help me. I didn't even get ten words out before she suddenly cut me off with, "Hold on," and placed me on hold. When I finally got to speak to her again, her responses were extremely rude and short, like she couldn't be bothered. I explained what happened and that I tried calling the number that came up on our caller id. which was from the santa cruz office. She told me no one called me from that number. I tried to tell her that was the only number that came up and she basically called me a liar. She said that the dr hadn't been at the santa cruz location in over a month so it wasn't possible. When I asked why did the number for that location show up, she told me I was mistaken. I let it slide. When I asked why then the person who called didn't tell us that that location was closed, she ignored the question by asking what I wanted. I asked if I could still bring my daughter in as we drove a half an hour to make the appointment. She replied in a snotty tone, "No. You have to reschedule." Ok. When is your next available time? 3 weeks out at 4pm. To get there I would have to leave the house by 1:45 because of rush hour traffic. When I asked if they had a morning time available, I received a heavy sigh before she said 2:45 or 3:30. I told her, I'll call you back, and hung up on her. This is not how you get new clients. I think their staff needs a refresher course in how to be courteous with customers. If you are that unhappy with what you do, maybe you should find something else. Looks like we will be taking our business over the hill instead of dealing with grumpy, rude employees.

The conversation quickly shifted toward cosmetic treatment options and ways my dual insurance could be billed. The focus felt more financial and cosmetic than educational or patient-centered.
