We have had Nana's treats a few times and they've always been good, but they really hit it out of the park with the cakes for our baby girl's first birthday! I spoke with Barbara, who I believe is Nana & the owner. She was so friendly and it was easy to place the order. I called about a week prior to do so. She even was able to provide a few recommendations. As promised, the cakes were ready when she said they'd be, and they were beautiful, adorable, and delicious! Flavorful, fresh, and moist as a cake should be. We did a 4" and 8" and it was perfect for the amount of people. It was about $80 for both cakes, and completely worth it. I realized that I'd never tried Nana's, so I stopped by and selected a cheese danish and a brown-butter cookie. The pastry of the danish was too dense and not to my taste. The danish seemed like it might be on the borderline of being stale too. All in all, it wasn't very good. On the other hand, the brown-butter cookie was tasty. I enjoyed it. The storefront is very clean and attractively decorated. Likewise the person that took my order was pleasant and helpful. I think a specialty bakery needs to offer a product that is noticeably better than the bakery section of the grocery store. The brown-butter cookie saved this from being a 2-star review. read more

I've been going to Nana's for over a year now and I should have posted this long ago. But since we finally did a holiday pie order, it is as good a time as ever to give this review. Such a great bakery! The scones are amazing. Every time we have people from out of town come, I will sneak out Saturday morning and get an assortment of these scones along with an assortment of other breakfast goods that wins all out of towners over. The Thanksgiving pies might become a christmas tradition. All of them were wonderful but the chocolate chess pie was a huge hit! Never had one as good as here. The staff is friendly and always baking large corporate orders, wedding orders, birthday goods, and sweets for every type of event. If you grab a coffee from Full Bloom around the corner, you would do yourself a disservice if you don't grab a pastry here to pair it with. read more

The downtown village of Garner is small. This is the gem that stands out amongst the few retail locations surrounding this bakeshop. The apple fritter was fresh, chewy, and bursting with little pieces of Apple. The Bavarian cream donut had a bittersweet chocolate topping which was not what I was expecting. I did sample their focaccia bread which was outstanding. This is a locally owned business as evidenced by the number of people coming in and saying hello to the owner. Compared to grocery store baked goods and the local Dunkin' Donuts this shop is far superior. I hope that they will continue to increase the number of items they offer for sale as time goes by. read more

We love Nana's Little Sweets in this household! When we're able to go, we like to get a sampling of sweets. On our last visit we got the mini strawberry crunch cake, a cheddar and chive scone, a braided pastry (I think it was honey), and a slice each of lemon bread and banana bread. The ordering and checkout process was easy and the baker we spoke to was patient and polite (we had a hard time deciding!). Staff was friendly when we went, we left with a variety of things from the window. It was okay, but I felt they all were missing small steps that left their product's kind of lackluster. For example, brushing cake layers or cupcakes with simple syrups goes a really long way to ensure they dont dry out in the window. The danish/pastries mostly felt like commercially made products assembled on site with fresh fruits added. Its a cute place and Im glad to see they've succeeded so far. read more

Kiddo and I like trying different pastry shops in the area, so we stopped in to give this place a chance since we were in the area. Overall, I thought the pastries we bought were very good. The staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful, and it fit in well with the cute downtown area that garner is trying to build. I'm rating them 3 stars as the pastries seemed approximately on par with Wegmans. I would happily go here again, but it wasn't over the top amazing. read more

I love Nana's Lil Sweets. I have not had one item on the menu that I didn't like. You are always greeted with a warm smile. Barb is awesome and always has an encouraging word for you. Her husband is hilarious. They make you feel as though you are part of the family. I have ordered items for events and gifts and they have always proven to be the hit.
