I love finding things and haggling a bit. You can't do that very often here. Most of the items are from vendors. They rent a space in the store and price their items. There is no room for negotiating since they aren't there. Most of the items are overpriced. I found spools of Rick rack that had a 60 cent tag from the original store and the nana's price was $1. I haven't found anything cheaper than $1. It seems no matter what the item, it is marked for at least $1. I have been here about 5 times. Whenever I've found something i wanted, it's been overpriced (I.e. 3 food graters from the dollar tree priced $1 each. They usually go for $1 for all three new. A sugar dispenser from the dollar tree that sells for $1 new was $2 used here) and there was no negotiating since the vendor wasn't there.
Today was my last attempt. I found a zip loc bag of elastic with no price tag. I offered 25 cents. The woman had to call a man on her walkie talkie since the item had no tag and she couldn't tell what vendor it belonged to. She asked him if she could sell it for 25 cents and he said he'd have to look at it. So i waited there in front of the desk for 10 min and said, "so is he just about here? We're waiting on him to check the item out right?" she said no. They couldn't sell it at all bc it had no price. This place is not the worth the hassle. Every time I have tried to buy something it is overpriced (retail or higher) or it has no price and can'd be sold. What a pain.
Pros: tons of stuff, three levels to the store, convenient hours
Cons: very few items are actually antiques or collectibles, lots of cheap junk that costs at least $1, nearly everything overpriced, super dusty store leaves me with a headache, no room for negotiating, very disorganized
Bottom line is I won't be back and i have been known to have a ton of patience for sifting and finding treasures in junk stores. It's just no fun here. read more
