    Miso ramen

A very good ramen joint in Zaventem that's worth the detour if you're in the area. It is sometimes for me easier to go there than to some in the city centre, because there is less traffic around the place and parking is very convenient. The ramen themselves are really good. Broth is delicious, but could sometimes feel a little too salty for my palate. Also, the slices of pork meat are a little dryer than in other ramen dishes that I have been able to taste. But that does not hinder me from coming back here once in a while and enjoy the ramen. The place itself is very Japanese, especially during lunch hours when it can be packed by Japanese businessmen. As a consequence, the atmosphere at lunch time is also very business-like, so it doesn't look like the place to party. However, if you're just there to enjoy a good bowl of ramen, you hit the right spot.

Excellent Tonkotsu-Otokomai Ramen and Gyōza. This place is not very big or open late, so make sure you get there on time to experience the amazing flavours served up! I will be back.

This place was the kind of place foodies would go and find out about and try. Out of the way location, small restaurant, good reviews on Yelp, word of mouth marketing and confirmation that a Japanese man is making the food. The noodles were a nice texture, the broth was comforting, there was plenty of spring onions, bean sprouts, and some ginger. Probably best ramen bowl you can find in this part of the world. The pork used was lean (good for health conscious folks so I wasn't complaining) but not typical of the pork belly you would find at a typical ramen shop and the broth was hearty but not oily. I was happy about this but I can see that some diehard Tonkotsu ramen lovers for a preference for fatty richness would object.

Tonkotsu ramen -- the chasu was from a wrong cut of pork and hence too lean and dry.

The restaurant is located far enough from the touristy areas to avoid being overrun, but easily accessible for the determined - only a 12 minute tram from Palais de Bruxelles. A casual ambiance at the bar/counter (photo), not common among other Michelin-star restaurants, hides their meticulous preparations and excellent service. A simple lunch, exquisitely prepared (photo). Incredibly fresh otoro. Fresh grated wasabi. Black sesame mousse dessert (photo). It is moderately expensive (prix fixe lunch, with two glasses of wine - about 70€) - If it wasn't 5,700 km away, I would go every day. 2018 10 08.

It was a bit expensive, but still worthwhile to go to. The staff were friendly and i was happy to have walked in to an actual Japanese restaurant with Japanese cooks. We took the menu of 75eur. And the quantity was perfect. I ordered a nice warm sake, and when it turned cold, it was still even better. My husband ordered a Japanese beer (made in belgium), it was good too, but i would recommend to stick with sake and macha tea. Try it out!!

Okay, really a 3-star place but because this was exactly what we were looking for to satisfy our…read moreramen craving while abroad, it gains an extra star. A disclaimer: I realize that I'm probably spoiled by the mass of ramen joints that are in the Bay Area. As a result, I judge ramen places pretty highly. The 3-star rating is not to say that the ramen was terrible, but it is certainly not ranked among the best. Tonkotsu Ramen. Usually when I think of tonkotsu, I think of a rich and flavorful broth, as tonkotsu is traditionally stewed from pork bones for hours and hours. This broth fell a bit short of flavorful. The noodles, pork, and toppings were delicious (I always appreciate a perfectly soft boiled egg), but the broth is really what makes or breaks a ramen to me. Kara Miso Ramen. For those who like a bit of spice with their ramen. Or maybe not a bit of spice? I'm usually a super wimp when it comes to spice, and the slightest hint will have me reaching for a glass of water to rinse it all out. This one didn't do too much for me. I felt a little bit of heat lingering on my tongue afterwards, but I was expecting a bigger kick. The meat on this bowl was also a little dried out. I can definitely see why this place would do well in this neighborhood; it fulfills a need that is missing, which is exactly why we ventured into Umamido. Great for an area that is slim on authentic ramen choices; not so great for someone who comes from an area that is saturated with ramen.

I surely will not recommend that place, don't worth the price, no taste (put the extra egg)…read more I could also talk about the disrespectul student staff...the only japanese vibe you will get is the Honda Motocompo they show in the front window (very nice).

The restaurant has only a few tables and few spots at the bar, however, even though they are always full it never happened that we wouldn't find a spot. The staff is very friendly and always tries to accommodate everyone. There's also one communal table and a small terrace. During the week they are offering lunch menus for 13€ which includes a starter and a main. The starter in this case is half the size of a normal starter but the menu is still a good value for the money. As they tend to get very busy during the lunch times I'd recommend making a reservation if you're more than 2 people. I might say I tried most of their menu and after trying it I decided to stick to my favorites - the starters. There are a few great mains like the grilled salmon (Shake Teppanyaki) which is very juicy, marinated just the right amount and seared very shortly, or the seared beef steak (Suteki Teppanyaki). Both dishes come with rice and a salad on the side. However, the other mains I found a bit dull. This is also the reason I'm giving them a 4 star and not a 5. But the reason I keep coming back are the starters, their Sushi's and Maki's. My all time favorites are: - Gyoza which are stuffed with chicken and Japanese vegetables. The down side is that they provide only the so sauce (sweet or salty) but not the gyoza sauce. - Chikin Nagetto which are pieces of the chicken tighs breaded in sweet and a bit sour mix. The meat is not dry at all, on the contrary very juicy. - The salmon salad (Shake no Sarada) is the version of the grilled salmon but smaller then a main and with more salad (no rice). - Nikko California roll which have the salmon and fresh cheese on the inside and very thin layer of avocado and salmon on the outside layer topped with fish eggs. All the Maki's come in 6 pieces. The rest of the menu I will let you discover on your own...
