I started taking my pup to the day care service at around 7mo old. I wanted him to get socialización outside of our home/normal activities. He's 10+ months now. I take him, at most, once/week, or once every other week. I think the day care at NanaNPaws is exactly what I wanted for him, and what he needs. He definitely gets excited (positively) when we're pulling in the drive. It's almost like he's showing me what we're doing. And then, I'll pretend that I'm not jealous when the staff comes to greet him, and he is jumping out of my hold to meet them! LOL! Everyone at NanaNpaws makes me feel like they know my boy, and will take care of him. I also had the grooming service from Ms Kelly, twice. At around 7 months and recently at over 10 months. I am extremely satisfied with both experiences (and, holy---husky hair!!!) 20 stars! Thank you ALL for making me feel like I'm handing my boy off to family! read more

this place amazes me. every third time we have our two dogs overnite they have not received the paperwork for vaccinations!! their computer.system shows one of our dogs with no Bordatells shot so we can't drop our dogs off ! in spite of dropping off paper copies two weeks earlier! And dropping them off for overnite. This happened again today. iI am fed up. They should pay their help more or get a better records system so it gets used correctly by trained employees. Very unhappy with this continued mistake ridden system. instead of spending $2000/ yr here, we are raking our pups elsewhere. Good Luck to those still using this poorly run facility. Not sure this place even deserves a 1 star. If you like to be talked down to by people that claim to know what they are doing than this is the place for you. My pet didn't even make it for one visit. Spoke with 3 different employees and they all had the same bad attitude. This organization seems to thrive on making it difficult to do business. For context, our dog was between 10 and 11 months old throughout our experience with Nana-N-Paws. We will never take our dog back here again. Our dog had 2 grooming appointments at Nana-N-Paws. The first one went well, but the second one did not. After the second appointment our dogs nails broke twice causing a lot of bleeding that took hours to stop. We had to bandage her paws multiple times over night. It was obvious they cut her nails way too short and she was in a lot of pain. We also had our dog signed up for the obedience class. The class was fine, and the instructor was knowledgeable. However, 2 weeks into a 6 week course our dog went into heat. We were told by our Vet to keep her away from male dogs. The class had a few male dogs in it so we called and canceled for a couple of weeks. After our pup had to miss a third week due to her heat cycle running that long, we called to ask if we could be placed into a later class or if they could refund our money until a later class became open. We wanted our pup to take the obedience class, especially because we liked the trainer. Nana-N-Paws told us they would get back to us about a refund, which they never did. They were also extremely rude about the entire situation and frankly seemed annoyed and indifferent that our dog had to miss 3 classes due to her natural cycle. If your dog has any chance of going into heat, don't take a class here. Beware of their grooming as well. read more

You neglected some important points fact one : the dogs had the same collars which they have worn for over a year. At no time during that prior year was I informed that the collars were not up to par. It was only when I guess you changed the rules that this came up. Fact two: I had repeatedly requested that I seek E-mails that would let me know of changes. I asked repeatedly several times and and was never kept informed of any new policies . Fact three: The dogs had name tags but your staff would not or could not take the trouble to remove and put them on the new collars perhaps it was too difficult. : I would not have minded switching out the collars I have from home if I had been notified but apparently sending me a text was too difficult for agency. You are correct in one thing though this was definitely not a good fit. read more

Made kennel reservations in April. They made copies of all of our paperwork. We were told to bring our dog in for daycare to see how he did in June for his July stay. Called to bring him in and the very rude phone person said she didn't know what I was talking about and he didn't have a reservation, they were full and hung up. If they treat the dogs like their owners, we're better off going elsewhere. read more

We have a 6 month old Corgi pup who goes to Nana's regularly for socialization with other dogs. This is a very nice facility with lots of room, inside and outside. We have had our puppy stay over night at Nana's and it was a good experience as well. There is nothing like this in the Lansing area! read more

I've been taking my dogs to Nana N' Paws on and off for a few years now, and can happily say I will never do so again. When we first took our four dogs there, my parents specifically told the staff that their elderly dog was not to play with other dogs, as he can get aggressive when he plays and other dogs don't respond well. We returned from our vacation and were told he "did great!" with the other dogs. It doesn't matter how he did, what matters is that staff directly ignored my parents' request, which could have led to injury for their dog or others. They never took him back, transferring him instead to Wag N' Tails, which I can't recommend highly enough. I kept bringing two of my dogs to Nana N' Paws however, because I liked the fact that they played with other dogs, and Nana N' Paws is cheaper. Of course, you get what you pay for. I stopped taking my third dog there however, because after he had surgery, I knew I could not trust the staff there to follow instructions as regards to keeping him separate from other dogs. He now goes to Wag N' Tails as well. Since then, almost every time I've taken my dogs there, something has gone wrong. Once the kennel attendant came out into the lobby with both my dogs in her arms and literally handed them to me - no leashes, no bag with their stuff. "Where are their leashes," I asked. "Oh, they're in the back." Ummm, how do you want me to control two crazed little animals in your lobby with other dogs WITHOUT their leashes? They've forgotten to bring up their dog bed; they never bring up all of their belongings and I have to go through their bag meticulously to see that everything is there. They don't get their food portions right, as the dogs always come back with treats and food they shouldn't, as I portion it all out before I drop them off. I took them this fall, and one of my two dogs ended up with kennel cough - there was an outbreak at Nana N' Paws. She was at the vet three times for it with symptoms including sneezing blood. My parents' elderly dog caught it from her as well, costing them money and worry. When I called about it, Nana N' Paws owner actually said something to me like "Well, it costs us a lot more to sterilize and clean the kennel after something like this." Are you KIDDING me?! It's YOUR fault it happened. They offered no free stay, nothing. They did actually offer "one free day of day care for your affected dog," which they never followed up with on an email as promised. I had a reservation over Thanksgiving that I had to keep because other kennels were full. The usual happened on this visit as well - they brought my dogs up without their leads, so I had to try to change them into their own leashes in the lobby. They forgot the bed in back. They left their food in the fridge. They didn't give the dogs the Greenies I'd portioned out. Par for the course. I had one more reservation scheduled there for a December trip, and that was going to be my last Nana N' Paws experience. I called today to cancel it because my sister kindly agreed to watch the dogs and guess what...they DIDN'T EVEN HAVE IT ON THE BOOKS. For a 10-day stay. Had I shown up with the dogs before our flight, I would have been screwed. Fellow dog owners of Lansing, whatever you do, do not take your dogs to Nana N' Paws. Consider yourself warned. read more

Our dogs LOVE being at Nana-N-Paws. They are both Old English bulldogs so not exactly high energy dogs but they are both very social and love playing with other dogs. Nana-N-Paws offers this in a safe environment and they both seem happily tired out when we get them. We have been very happy with the care and attention they have given our dogs when they've had to stay overnight, usually for extended periods of time. They did get kennel cough once but I view this as par for the course, akin to kids in daycare coming home with colds. We have tried other kennels in the area and Nana-N-Paws are heads above in terms of cleanliness, and most especially in the way they care for our fur babies. read more

Great place, the staff has been very kind and caring to my dogs. They let my old dog, who doesn't like to wrestle with other dogs much any more, stay with them in the office while my young dog plays with the romper group. My dogs love it there. read more

Patty Lance of Nana-n-Paws *IS* the dog whisperer. My dog Alma was not well socialized and pretty nervous around other dogs. After a few days with Patty, Alma improved tremendously. She is better at home as well as around other dogs now. Doggie daycare is the best thing to happen to my dogs. They come home exhausted and well behaved! read more

I am so glad to have found Nana's. My pup is so happy after going to doggy day care. He also is still nice and clean when he gets home yet you know he's had a good time. I wish I lived closer though. I have been going here for quite a few years. Over the past year I have not been as happy with the service I have received. This past phone call just put our relationship to an end. I called to schedule an appointment for grooming for my furry son. When the lady answered I told her the reason for my call and she, in a very sarcastic voice, said she needed to know the name of my dog to help me. Sometimes it's not what you say but how you say it. I get bad days, but don't take it out on other people that are customers. read more

We have been very pleased with both overnight boarding and daycare! They seem to genuinely care about our dog and make sure she gets plenty of attention. Someone is always there 24/7 to watch the dogs. They do not charge extra for playtime like some places do or to administer medication, which we really appreciate. My puppy is a year old and very energetic! I love knowing I can take her to daycare at Nana-n-Paws while I'm at work. She gets lots of exercise and socialization with other dogs, and always comes home worn out and happy, which is also great for me! They have a great play area for the dogs filled with different toys, and with lots of room to run around. They seem to genuinely love the dogs and give them attention as if they were their own. I can tell because they always let me know how my puppy did that day when I pick her up, and often have funny stories to tell. I would definitely recommend Nana-n-Paws to anyone looking for daycare or for boarding. They truly go above and beyond! read more

I suppose that Nana-N-Paws is fine if you're wealthy. I recently brought our dog on a Friday at 5:36 pm and picked her up at 4:53 pm on Saturday (less than 24 hours). The fee for her stay was $59. Considering that we bring her food and asked for no special service, this seems ridiculously high to me. I did not request a suite as mentioned in the reply and brought her bed from home. read more

My dog went to Nana-N-Paws for daycare for several months. She started showing aggressive behavior while on walks and I asked about training. I attended several private lessons with Patty and a few with another gal. I learned a few things with them and thought my dog's aggression was all my fault. I eventually had to stop taking my dog to daycare there because of her aggression and spoke with my vet. I ended up seeing a behaviorist and learned that EVERYTHING I was told about training a dog with aggression is the OPPOSITE of what should be done. Nana's is great for daycare and the training is even great for a dog without aggression issues. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOUR DOG IS AGGRESSIVE. They are severely unqualified to give training advice about aggression and WILL make the problem escalate. Start by reading "Decoding Your Dog" and go from there. read more

We have used nananpaws for both grooming and boarding while away. I would absolutely not recommend to have your dog groomed here. I am extremely disappointed in the cut my little dog came home with. The hair was trimmed uneven and his face was just a mess with hair still in his eyes. The length was NOT what we requested. It simply looked like a careless job all around. The kenneling on the other hand seems to be very good. Our little one came home quite stinky, but the area they board them in seems to be a great environment. read more

I have been bringing my dog here for over a year now. He goes 2-3x a week for daycare and has had a few overnight sleepover visits. I have been very happy with the facility and employees until recently. There was an issue a few months ago with an employee bringing my dog out after a full day at daycare. My dog tends to pull on the leash when he's excited (most dogs do) and the employee choked him and lifted him off of the ground several times to where my dogs eyes were bugged out and he couldn't breathe. I called and brought it to the owners attention and that employee never brought him back out again. We continued to take him for daycare multiple times a week which is not cheap and once again today another employee decided she was going to drag him and lift him off of the ground choking him all while screaming, "STOP, you're being ridiculous". Numerous times in the hallway. Like my dog or any dog really knows what your saying to them. I am beyond disgusted. For the amount of money being spent there I expect my dog to be happy! Not terrified of an evil witch employee. They need to invest in cameras so the owners can watch what is happening during the day. I am now wondering what is being done to my dog behind closed doors. The employees need to be trained to handle dogs properly before they really hurt someone's family member. She was angry and obviously having a shitty day and decided she was going to take it out on my dog. So unacceptable! read more

Nana-n-Paws will be a nice back-up for if the place I usually take my dog is booked up (which is exactly why I took him there in the first place). Definitely did not exceed my first choice place, though. They broke my dog's food bowl, we brought his in because he's weird and afraid of metal bowls. There were 2 meals they didn't feed my dog at all (I'd made exactly the number of meals he should have eaten during his stay). Either they needed to use one of their bowls because his broke and he didn't eat (which means they completely ignored the intake paperwork, because I told them of his metal bowl fear), or they didn't realize each bag was one meal (which again means they ignored both the intake paperwork or the bags themselves which were individually labeled). I don't know what happened because they didn't give me a report card or a verbal report to tell me how he was over the weekend (even though their website purports that they would do so). Not my favorite place, but not the worst place either. read more
