I sought Shari's services two years ago because I believed my thinking was problematic for me and…read moreread that Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) might be good for me. I learned CBT involved reworking the "irrational, illogical or incorrect associations" of thinking. She did CBT. Shari does CBT as well as emotional support counseling. I benefited so much from both of her skills. She's excellent at what she does. I recommend her no ifs ands or buts about it. I tried many decades of various non-CBT based therapies. These include: "I do all the talking" therapy, lots of "how do you feel about that" therapy, lots of "let's explore your childhood relationships to now" therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, psychoanalytical (Freudian) therapy, dream therapy and other therapies. These helped me through rough times. Nothing prevented re-occurrences. Shari is an expert at feeling-based, empathetic counseling and CBT. Regarding CBT, for the first time in my life, I can identify on my own and bat down bad and illogical thoughts when they first occur. When they occur, I don't jump to the worst-case scenario. This has always been problematic for me. I can now figure out and fix the error(s) of my thinking at the onset. (The thinking errors could sometimes be fear related or stupid little things that made no sense at all.) As a result, I don't catastrophize as much anymore. I am less anxious. I am a nicer person. I put things in perspective more easily. I can fix myself and function on my own without as much therapy, all because of her. She didn't start the beginning of our time together with CBT. We talked lots about my feelings, the situations, and how I dealt with things. From the beginning, it was counseling and reassuring empathy and continues this way to this day. She always makes me feel like I have positives about me. At some point in time, not sure when, she blended in subtle guidance and CBT. Without knowing it, I discovered I was working on CBT outside the sessions. Unlike other therapists in the past who I regularly visited, sometimes for years, I now visit Shari on an as needed basis. This is because she enabled me to be in control of myself. I visit her when I'm feeling blue or when I'm in a rough time. She's superb at what she does. I recommend her unquestionably, no if ands or buts about it.
