We drove up to Winter Park to meet some friends in town for the weekend. They wanted Indian so we headed to Namaste India. First, I really liked the simple decor. The fur seat cushions were unexpected and cozy. Our waiter was great and checked in on us often. We ordered two portions of the Veg Samomas to share among the four of us and one entree each. I had a glass of wine and two others had two beers each. I share this now for pricing considerations. We ordered our entrees and choose curries, chicken tikka masala and the lamb rogan josh. We also ordered bread. While the food was good, it wasn't great. I'm not sure that I could put my finger on why it wasn't my favorite, but we've walked away from other Indian places wishing we could stay. The place itself is charming. The staff were kind as well. I'm not sure we would return, though, with the price tag. Our bill was $200 for 4, before tip. read more

It was tough to find an Indian restaurant in Winter Park, but I'm so glad I came across Namaste! The restaurant already had a big table set up, along with multiple small tables available, and a couple of small tables were already seated. This place is legit good. It took awhile to get our orders placed and for our orders to arrive, but wow. The butter chicken and cheese Naan were the best I've had. Everything we ate was delicious. They have a great wine list and the choice of a French menu. I just wish the bathroom was cleaner. And of course the political sign of being a "gender neutral" bathroom is unnecessary, considering there is only one bathroom. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it if you aren't in a hurry. read more

We had the best Friday night here! The place is simply, but tastefully furnished. Our server was super sweet, smiley, and even took the time to explain to us the difference between Naan & Paneer. Yum! A cool newer Indian place in Winter Park, Namaste India offers a very unique menu of both Indian and French cuisines. You will receive one of each menu, plus a wine menu. The design is a bit odd as it feels very empty and basic - aside from the name of the place and one or two art pieces, the walls and floors are bare and tables are very basic with seat cushions. The windows were filthy when I visited so any view of the outside was obstructed. The menu itself is very extensive with clearly marked allergens which is much appreciated! I ordered the chicken makhani (butter chicken) and masala chai, and they noted my gluten allergy. The masala chai was small but tasty and came with a self serve sugar dish. The butter chicken was yummy with quality meat, though a bit spicy for my wimpy taste. The waiter was pretty slow even though only one other party was there, forgot to bring me a plate, and took a very long time to bring water refills, the check, etc. The food was delicious but the service and atmosphere leave much to be desired. read more

Almost everything we had was excellent: batata vada (fried potato croquettes), foie gras, prawns koliwada, Pani puri , escargots in a tikka masala sauce, and the delicious lobster curry. The only thing that was meh was the gulab jamun dessert (it was too sweet for my taste but is traditionally made that sweet). Service is excellent. The decor could use some work - it looks a little spartan. We came in not knowing what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to go again! read more

Service was good. We ordered takeout. It was ready on time. When I took the food I was a bit surprised at how little there was. The order was two entrees, bread, soup, and a dessert for $91. And when we got to eat it, the only real delight was the carrot pudding. I would try Namaste again to see if it was a one off. But I think I may be surprised. read more

The other night with our friends, we were in the mood for indian food and since Namaste India had a table available for us when we called at the last minute before dinner, we decided to try it. We didn't know what to expect when we saw this unassuming place in a stip mall (Conoco center) off highway 40,and we almost turned around. I am glad we didn't! Inside the atmosphere is simple but elegant, quite unexpected from the outside and the Indian food very tasty. There are two separate menus one French and the other Indian. That's a strange combination but one of the co-owners trained in a French culinary school, so why not. We started with vegetarian samosas, perfectly crispy on the outside. We then each had different curries, all delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes, which is always nice. We ended this fine Indian meal with a French dessert, couldn't resist the Opera. For $16, it's quite expensive even if the portion is generous. At that price, it better be very good, and while it was fine, it certainly didn't justify this amount, I've had better ones. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with Namaste India, we'd never heard of it before (they opened a little over a year ago) and it might become one of our favorite restaurants in Winter Park. It's also worth mentioning the attention to detail, everything was beautifully presented. We had a wonderful evening and will certainly go back! read more

What a great concept! French and Indian food. You can order ala carte or from the tasting menus ($150-175ish), which are either French or Indian. We were craving Indian food so ended up ordering just from the India side but you can mix and match the French and Indian menus if ordering ala carte. Overall really enjoyed the food aside from the biryani. The samosas were cooked perfectly and included two large simosasand a well-paired mint sauce. The daal pakoda was very crispy. The lamb kofta and butter chicken makhani were both on point. Unfortunately, none of us liked the biryani which tasted like overcooked rice without much flavor. Nothing like prior biryanis we've had which is a bummer since I usually love this dish. There was also complimentary rosemary olive oil bread with butter that was incredible! The ambiance was beautiful and the wait staff were super friendly and nice. I'd recommend this place wholeheartedly! read more

Had dinner her last night and really enjoyed it. Our party tried three entrees from the Indian menu. All 3 were delicious and some of the best Indian I have ever eaten. We tried the Lamb Rogan Josh, Palak Paneer, Garlic Paratha, and this spicy almost fried rice street food dish. I can't find the name of it on the online menu but if you like spicy you have to try this one. To start the meal they brought out the most delicious fresh steaming rosemary bread and butter with flecks of salt while we waited for our food. The owner and head chef, Chef Ricky has trained underTWO Michelin star chefs (wow) learned French cuisine in France ( he has a really cool story! Meet him while you're there if you can!) anyway everything we tried was fabulous. There is a 6 course vegan tasting menu (that is not easy to do!) and a 6 course tasting menu with meat as well. The staff were attentive and kind, the flavor was phenomenal, the cooking was on point. We were so impressed by the food and service. We were slightly uncertain of the "French-Indian" (and our table of four all opted for Indian) and it was amazing! We ordered the Chicken Saag, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tiki Masala and Shrimp Coconut Curry. The ingredients were fresh and each dish was prepared with attention and full of flavor. As part of their presentation, they brought 6 small complimentary tastings for each person periodically while we waited for our entree which we found to be so generous. The chef seemed to have a desire to share his love of food with his guests. They really take a lot of pride to ensure everything is prepared to your liking and it was!
