Specialties
Namaspa is a yoga & wellness community that inspires each individual to experience their own greatness through the transformational practices of Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga, other "Lite" yoga styles, wellness services, workshops and trainings. We invite all to explore and dissolve their physical, mental and energetic blocks through the application of balanced action - effort and ease, to create a new level of openness, freedom and connection. We are committed to making the benefits of yoga accessible to all experience levels, body types, ages and incomes through our classes, Ambassador and Community Outreach Programs.
History
Established in 2007.
Suzie Newcome founded Namaspa in Bend, OR in 2007. The word "Namaspa" is a trademarked word that combines the sanskrit word "Namas", which means "the light in me sees and acknowledges the light in you" as in the yogic greeting "namaste", and "spa" to denote that there are massage and skin care services offered as well. The community quickly outgrew its first location on Greenwood, and moved to its current Bend location at 1135 NW Galveston, just behind 10 Barrel Brewery.
After being voted "Best Yoga Studio in Central Oregon" many times and receiving many requests, Namaspa expanded, opening its second studio in Redmond in November 2015.
Both locations offer two studios in the same space - the "Main" studio which has heated Baptiste style classes, and a "Lite" studio which offers kids classes as well as more gentle, lower heat classes.
Meet the Business Owner: Suzie N.
I'm Suzie Newcome, the founder of Namaspa, 500hr Certified Baptiste Teacher and member of the Leader Teacher Faculty, a group of teachers who lead Baptiste programs around the world. I grew up in Bend and graduated from Mountain View in '88, moving to Boston to attend Harvard ('94), Harvard Business School ('99), and work for more than 10 years in advertising, retail and strategy consulting. In 2005, however, I left the corporate world and moved back to Bend to help others live healthier, more stress-free and lives. I had suffered chronic low back pain, as well as insomnia, weakened immunity, and general chronic fatigue for years due to stress. Yoga's meditative breath work and stretching helped me relax, and through yoga I built strength, stamina and mindfulness. Yoga has transformed my life, and helps me align with my most important priorities, and to be more present and compassionate, giving me access to a whole new level of growth and expansion.
