Roach on chicken at hot bar

Just don't eat anything at the hot bar and you'll be fine ‍This is my favorite place to grocery shop, just the cleanliness of the hot bar is questionable.

The mussels are rotten and open. This is a health hazard. The muscles are open. People were still buying it. It is food poison. I am thinking of calling the Georgia department of health.

My mom loves coming here when we visit Ga. She can find all of her Jamaican items and other stuff she needs. Now if you are looking for items of different cuisine this is your store. Now when you first walk in this place doesn't have the best smell but you could get use to it. They have live and fresh seafood and the cost is very reasonable

Tons of produce at a good price. A lot of hard to find items!

I am new to the city and my mother in law raved about this place. I wasn't around when this place was publix but honestly, publix isn't all that great and certainly is not ethnic. Unless you are on Buford highway, Asian, ( in this case Korean) markets are hard to come by. This is why I was so thrilled to be here. Despite what you may think, the produce was probably the best part-- a lot of variety but also with an Asian flare. The selection of mushrooms and interesting peppers were just the to of the iceberg. Not to mention all the interesting Asian-inspired snacks. Hey, sometimes I need my shrimp chip fix or have a hankering for half sized bamboo skewers for grilling! I only hope such diversity will survive in Decatur and only time will tell.

So nice having a grocery store back here in this shopping center!! Although not as clean and quiet as its predecessor, this Farmers Market is better with an amazing, over-flowing wild assortment of fresh produce and fresh seafood! My suggestion, stick to shopping on the exterior walls only. Nothing on the interior aisle is worth it, both $$$ and health wise.

When Publix's Memorial Drive location closed, I was in extreme denial. I went there the last day they were open and it was packed to the gills with customers, and I thought, "Surely a manager is watching this right now, and he'll call corporate and they'll answer the big red emergency phone and then hit the ABORT button and business will be back to usual." But nope! They actually closed! It hurt my feelings because it seemed like Publix only wanted to be in fancy neighborhoods and I'm a little too low-rent for them. Well, Nam Dae Mun is here and I can confidently give a big middle finger to Publix because I don't need them anymore. I've been to NDM twice in as many days, and I think I'm in love. They somehow managed to cram a million kinds of things into one tiny former-Publix. I'd read reviews of some of the other locations to get a feel for what to expect, and I was sure it'd be adequate but not great. I figured I'd have to supplement with trips to other stores, but would support NDM since it was so close just like I do with Thriftown. But after visiting, I don't know if I ever need to go to another grocery store. (Okay that's not true, Costco is my boyfriend and we'll never break up EVER but it's kind of in a league of its own) When you first walk in, there is definitely a pungent odor. Other YDFM and Buford Hwy shoppers know the smell, but I think it's a liiiiiittle bit stronger here. After your nose settles down, your eyes are assaulted by ALL THE FRUITS. There are also bulk herbs, spices, candy, and nuts. There are live crabs, and an insane variety of seafood. There's a cookware aisle that even displays car mats and rice cookers. There's a small aisle filled with ramen! There are Jamaican staples, Thai ingredients, Mexican specialties, and pretty much any other kind of food you would ever need. The freezer aisles offer kimchi fried rice alongside DiGiorno pizza. There were yogurt brands I've never heard of, and fancy cheeses I can't wait to try. They had Ben & Jerry's, and fresh-baked breads. There was even a tiny food court! It appeared to be just one counter, but they had hamburgers and fried rice (and probably other things too!). The other shoppers were all as goggle-eyed as I was, but everyone's cart was pretty full. I will no longer need to order henna from Amazon, or make a trip to Buford Hwy for pierogies and gyoza. On the way out, there was a receipt checker who gave us a free package of paper towels for spending over $50, and every single employee we encountered was extremely friendly. The only drawbacks (besides the smell) were that we saw a whole goat in the freezer section that expired back in June, and we got some ground beef that wasn't super great-looking. But I'm not in the market for a whole goat, and we can grind our own beef! I don't hate Publix for making what they thought was a sound business decision, but I kind of hope they regret leaving us. If I need White Mountain bread I can still go to Shamrock plaza, but for my every day gotta-run-to-the-store needs, I'm definitely going to Nam Dae Mun.

There is also free parking in designated areas. You can also buy prepared food from other vendors below. It's overall a very nice market. I don't go as often as I would like but if you are near the area or just like a good farmers market, give this one a try. The Avondale Estates Farmers Market was no exception for me; it's pretty terrific. There were maybe about 30 vendors with all sorts of goods up for grabs: produce, pastries, prepared foods, teas, housewares, stuff for pets, international cuisine, jewelry, soaps, and more. Most proprietors seemed to accept both cash and credit cards. They were all smiling and some even offered samples. The Avondale Estates Farmers Market is located in a roomy parking lot next to My Parents' Basement (also a neat spot). Speaking of parking, the official website for this market doesn't mention any parking options. It seems like attendees were just parking on the streets behind the market. Some people might've been parking in lots for businesses closed Sunday, but I'm not sure. The market is held Sundays shine or rain, from 10 AM to 1 PM, all year round
