I would NOT recommend this nail shop. First of all, it's gone through 3-4 management changes already--red flag. I actually tried to support local, but clearly that was a mistake. The guy at the front, Brandon--idk if he's the owner--but WHY was he calling and texting me from his personal cell about appointments? That's unprofessional and straight-up weird. I should only be contacted from the business line, period. On top of that, I ended up with a nail infection on my toe. Never in my life has that happened until I came here. That's what happens when a shop pretends to be friendly, but the minute you speak up about their sloppy work, they get an attitude. Fake smiles don't cover bad service. If you can't handle doing your job properly without catching feelings when someone calls it out, then you shouldn't be doing nails. Simple. I've been getting my nails done since high school, so this isn't new to me--but I'll be LOUD now about shops with these ridiculous prices. After I stopped coming here, I got way better nails done on Melrose (not dropping the name, but if you know, you know). And don't get me started on the "extra costs." Whatever happened to a simple pedicure? Now they tack on charges for every little thing. It's all unnecessary upselling--a scam for mediocre work. I've been a loyal client of Nails on 9th and Sandy for three years, but unfortunately, since the new management took over, Sandy has left and the experience has gone downhill. First, they used to be open seven days a week, which made it easy for those of us with busy schedules to find time for an appointment. Now, they're closed on Sundays, making it much harder for anyone with a 9-to-5 job to get in. Pricing has also become inconsistent. I get the same service every time, yet the total I'm charged is always different, give or take $40. While their prices are standard for the area, it's unsettling to never know what you'll actually be paying. There is no menu of services. On top of that, they send out mass texts advertising 15% off, but conveniently fail to mention that the discount only applies during "happy hour." The final straw was my most recent visit, which will also be my last. I had previously nail tech that I liked named Destiny, but she was let go for some reason. Instead, I was booked with Annie. I always get long, sharp stiletto Gel-X nails with a builder gel fill. Instead of using builder gel, which has always been my go-to and takes minimal time, she insisted on using poly gel, which required molding and shaping--taking significantly longer. When I requested to use the builder gel right on the shelf behind her, they flat-out declined. The shaping was also a disaster. I specifically asked for a sharp stiletto, but Annie's filing job was sloppy and inconsistent. When I asked her to make them sharper, she incorrectly said she'd have to rebuild the nail. I clarified that I just wanted more taken off the sides, which should've been a simple request, yet she didn't seem to understand. Communication barriers aside, a nail tech should know how to shape a stiletto nail properly. To add to the frustration, when picking out a color, I asked for a pinky nude. The first shade she showed me was just flat out pink, so I suggested something closer to my skin tone. Instead of helping me find the right shade, she lost her patience, walked off, and complained to the manager--claiming I expected her to try every single color (which wasn't true; she had only tried one). When the set was finally done, I walked up to what I assumed to be the manager to go pay, and he said Annie guarantees her work. We made small talk about how hard it is to find a good nail tech, but as we were speaking, I noticed that one hand was VISIBLY sharper than the other--the shapes didn't match at all. I brought it up to the manager before paying, and instead of offering a reasonable fix, he told me they would have to completely redo the set if I wanted it corrected. Again, that's wrong, just file the nails. (I included pictures here, and to the untrained eye, I know they might look a similar so you can call me crazy if you want, but if I'm spending $100, I'd like for the shape of my nails to at least match) There was no effort to make things right, no regard for customer service, and no acknowledgment that I've been a loyal client for years. I guess the salon doesn't guarantee Annie's work. It's unfortunate to see a once-reliable salon lose its quality and care for customers. I got a pedicure and gel manicure and my total was almost $200 even though I went during their 20% off time period. I was charged $30 extra for a design on 4 nails which she did not tell me until we were already two nails in. I let her know she should have told me that when she ageeed to it. She suggested taking it off but to me that was a waste of both of our time so we continued. & then at the end when I tipped and extra $10 the shop owner said I could tip more. That's so rude to say when I'm spending $170 & I did not even get any acrylics. I didn't say much at the moment but was very offended & will not be returning. Was visiting DTLA and stopped in here to get my nails done. The service and vibe is on par with this type of salon. It wasn't too busy and they were very attentive. They completed the manicure and pedicure at the same time. I liked the menu of options for services and the prices were reasonable. The variety of colors was a little less than I am accustomed but was fine. The best part, the no chip lasted over 4 weeks. I know with all salons there are stellar and not so stellar technicians. So in the beginning I booked my appointment in person. I didn't have a lot of time to go over the menu because I had another appointment to go to. So I figure there would be a menu online (please make note of this for later on in my review). After I thought my appointment was set up I called just to confirm and they could not find me at all. So the owner to who I messaged and called had advised me to set it up online. I was also offered a 5 dollar off coupon. However, when I showed the reference picture and color that I wanted. I was told by who I thought was the owner or manager "they will take care of you" meaning and I hate to assume anything but that they had the color. Initially the appointment was 95 dollars but I found an option that I thought would be similar and It was for 75 but the coupon made it 70. I messaged the "manager/owner" saying that I think i did it correct but I wasn't sure. Hoping he would correct me if I was wrong or mention if I was off by the amount or make a suggestion on nail color or anything. For the record the Instagram page which has now either taken down their posts or im blocked after leaving a 1 star review didn't have a menu with detail nor did the booking website. I have those screenshot and a video to prove it. Anyway, the day of the appointment came in and I had checked to see if my appointment was there because it wasn't originally and then I left to get my haircut. Then I came in for the actual appointment and told them I spoke to owner, I showed them the message, and so on. The color and art I wanted was like the print of a lion fish kinda with platho green and black. My original idea was to get black nails with a glow in the dark top coat for my hands and toes but when I saw that art and that color I was set on it. So explaining I wanted that color in advanced and top coat I didn't really want anything else. Worst of it I paid in advanced because I felt like we had an understanding (that was my mistake). After the two nail techs did my fingers and toes I looked at the process and noticed they didn't put a clear coat of polish, buffed my toes and sometime later I noticed I still had a dry patch on my back of my foot. Moreso my fingernails wasn't done completely and it was missing color. To be kinda fair they did have me point to what I wanted on the menu but still I did speak to them prior to explain what I wanted. If I needed to pay extra after the first initial payment I would of but there was no confirmation of extra payment. So back to the nails they was going to leave my nails rough and I was upset because I asked for color and my nails and at first they wasn't going to because they said it was for the design package to add color and I paid for a deluxe package. Again, the booking website had no full detail of what was being provided i.e. salt scrub and so on. Which I didn't care for an arm salt scrub I wanted the art on my nails and if not the art then id settle for the platho green color. I found out they didn't have the color as they after they provided their "services". So I was like ok do you have black? They did but I made sure to bring up the glow in the dark top coat to them again and they insisted on paint my nails with the clear base without telling me. So I demanded a refund naturally and yea I was loud in the shop because naturally I was pissed and I am not normally like that. However, if I pay for a service then I want details of what I am paying and get what I want. Again, if the manager had said youre short 20 dollars before coming into the shop and that the deluxe doesn't come woth any color just naturally nails then I wouldn't of paid my money. So after leaving my one star review on their ig page the manager called and texted me and advised me that he wont be refunding me because a service was provided. The one star would hurt his business and so on. I said I wouldn't take down my one star till yall refunded me. It wasn't fair to me yall dont have good communication skills and there isnt a proper menu or detail of what youre getting into in advanced. So after a heated argument on the phone and in person with me calling him a liar. I found out his son was messaging me some of the times and didn't tell his father "the manager" what was going on. In extension the original nail tech didn't know either besides what I told her and showed her. So no one knew anything and it was a mess and a half. On top of that they didn't cure my nails they told me to sit and wait 10- 15 minutes. I was pissed and I did mess up my nail a little but I needed to vent my frustrations to a friend or friends. Following up my cuticles are still messed up after they attempted to provide a service, my feet is still rough, they didn't have the color, the top coat, no clear menu unless you go in the store and even they the deluxe doesn't come with color (so why is it a deluxe?), no clear communication between family and staff and I wint be going back. ​ read more

This is my second time coming to nails on 9th. Both times the experience was great! There's never a wait and the staff are very friendly. Paula helped me this time and she did an amazing job on my pedicure. I will definitely be coming back and requesting her service. The location is clean and the pedicure chairs all look new. Usually at other places some chairs are not working or damaged. Not at this location. The pricing is manageable for the most part. The days of $25 pedicures and manicures are long gone lol. Tech doing my feet did my manicure since I was short on time. While doing so the nail tech took a second walk in. Finished my toes while she was still doing the second walk in so I booked an appointment at a shop down the street. When I go to check out, they charge me for the manicure that was done intentionally to smooth the process for gel x full set that was never done because they took in walk-ins going that I both booked an appointment in, had to be somewhere at a certain time. Keep in mind the pedicure took two hours and 10 minutes. My nails were never even done. I paid $120 for a pedicure. Don't go here. I've been a loyal customer every two weeks for the past two months. Just moved to LA from ATL and am on a hunt to find a reliable nail salon to do my dip / SNS manicure. I opted to try this salon because it was near my new place and needed to get the previous overgrown set off. Price break down $10 removal of old sns $55 basic sns no nail tip Short story: my overall salon experience is give a 3/5. But Nail Quality is 2/5 The manicurist were welcoming & nail shape was great, however I was given conflicting information which left me confused. And my manicure didn't last a week. Long story: In the 6 years I've gotten dip nails, I've never had a gel topcoat, just the basic dip top coat which usually dries in a couple of mins. I noticed the manicurist pull out the gel light when it came time to finish, so I said no thanks I'll have the basic topcoat that comes with the system. I was only told that "Gel is better" but when ask if gel was an additional cost, my current manicurist told it was then another said it wasn't. I ended up getting the gel topcoat because after 20mins the regular topcoat didn't dry, that's when the 2nd manicurist told me that the gel topcoat was included in the price, removed the basic topcoat and applied the gel. Regardless, my nails looked pretty. I was hesitant because they seemed thinner than what I am used to. I had a base dip of clear powder, then two dips of color. My home nail shop probably dips around 4-5x of color. Anyways, my nails chipped a few hours post leaving the nails salon. the next day I had two major chips and by day 6 all nails were off. I think it only hurt more being that my home sns manicure lasted me 6 weeks and survived a move and this didn't last a day. I've attached photos with time stamps. read more

I really wanted to like this place because it's only a few blocks from me. I tried them out about a month ago.. paid $90 + $10 tip for gel manicure + design. I really liked the design but after 4 days the gel started to chip and come off. I called and told them this, they allowed me to come in and fix it. After about 5 more days it chipped off again. I believe in second chances so I made an appointment for 4:30 today. I arrived at 4:20 and was okay with waiting until my scheduled appointment time. Unfortunately by 4:50 I was still sitting around waiting and so I made an appointment with another nail salon around the corner. They got me in immediately and did a great job so I will be going to them moving forward. There's too much competition in this area to be giving subpar service + not honoring appointment times. ( The Gold Is an old set, just thought I'd add the Photo! ) My chrome powder usually last me about 3weeks before it starts to chip, and I work with my hands all day (as a Designer/Tailor) so that is very Hard to come by! Ms Sam does your Chrome Powder on the toes to pure Perfection and Ms Paula gives a crazy foot massage!
