I've been coming to this place because it is close to home. But after today I will not be coming back. First of all, the service. I do not want to play the race card, but there's definitely a discrimination that I'm Chinese. Everytime I come here, i feel like they treat me crappy versus some others right infront of me. Today I had it was my final draw. I got in first, sat down first all they switched me 2 times to different seat. I was ready to start a technician she already was ready to go, two other people came in after me and they made me switch. I was pissed at this point. You don't do that. What happened to first come first serve? if they had an appointment, she shouldn't have taken me in the first place she should have waited for the client. If she didnt have it booked, then more reason for her that she shouldn't have taken her when I"ve already sat down in the seat. The other technicain also did a horrible job with a simple shellac, no nail cutting was done she didn't ask how I would like my nails shaped. Worst service ever, will not be going back ever. This is for the Oshawa Centre location. If I could give them ZERO stars I would. The lady who was doing my nails was very rude and did not have a nice attitude towards me at all. This was my first time going to this nail salon, and I suggest NO ONE TO GO THERE!!!!! As I sat down to get my nails done, I greeted the lady who was doing my nails and she did not say a thing or even look at me. As she started doing my nails, I showed her a picture on how I wanted my nails done and she basically looked at the picture and ignored me. I asked her the price of the acrylic nails and she looked at me and lied. She said it was going to be $40 for a very short length. I looked at the price list, and it said the starting price for acrylic was $37. She noticed that I looked at the price list and she ended up telling me the truth AFTER. She repeatedly told me to get shellac after I said no about 3 times. She was being very pushy and rude about it. She kept on moving my fingers and arm very aggressively to the point where I was about to snap. She was rolling her eyes, and talking to her co-worker beside her about me and my nails. I could tell she was saying something really negative about me, because her co-worker kept on looking at me with a grin on her face. I will never be going there ever again, and will make it my business to inform every person I know not to go there either. SHE DID A TERRIBLE JOB ON MY NAILS AND THEY LOOKED COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE PICTURE I SHOWED HER. SHE WAS VERY DISRESPECTFUL, AND WAS NOT KIND AT ALL. I'm writing this review for the Oshawa centre location. I assume these are franchises, so I hope it's seen by someone higher up. Went for a pedicure on a Tuesday. By Wednesday morning I was certain I had an infection. Tried to clear it up on my own, with no luck. Went to my doctor Friday and was prescribed antibiotics for a week, on a high dose too. This is the absolute worst nail salon I have ever been too. Hands down. I am a frequent customer of nail salons, mostly for just hands (shellac). I've seen everything from the best of the best, to passable. This place is THE WORST I've ever been to in the GTA. The place is filthy. There is no sign of a broom anywhere. It's basically a nail sweat shop, get a customer in, get them out. I watched them use the same tools on 3 customers in a row. Watched them "clean" the foot baths, and by clean, I mean swish around a thimble of bleach for 3 minutes, then plop the next poor soul down in the chair. They were visibly annoyed with me when I told them not to use the tools laying in their cart on myself. I wanted to see fresh tools. Being a nurse I should of known better, and headed for the hills at the first sight of their grossness. I called the health department of Durham region to file a complaint. They got back to me, stating they sent an inspector to check the place out. Upon the departments arrival, the inspector said they all scrambled around trying to get things in order. He said based on what he saw alone, they will be shut down. I didn't single handedly shut them down, but the fact that they've had so many complaints and the inspectors visit was enough for them. Please, when they undoubtedly re-open, do not chance it here. They do not care about your health, it's all about how many of us they can push through in a day. read more

I have been to Nails for you 12-15 times in the last two years (they are close to my house) and only 4 times have I be happy. I have never had a pain free experience with them. The most recent time I was stabbed twice by cuticle scissors. My family and I decided to give them one more chance, made an appointment (they didn't have enough staff to take the three of us, so we were scattered), My sisters nail polished bubbled somehow, something I've never seen. And my nails look as though they were done two weeks ago instead of two days. Also within the first two days five of my nails had chipped polish, if they had been done right I know this wouldn't have happened. Needless to say I have had enough. Convenient or not, customer satisfaction is not important to them so these unhappy customers are going elsewhere. read more

This review is for the location by Townline in Courtice. There is a man who works there who seems super stressed and just doesn't want to be there. I've had the pleasure of having this man do my nails a couple times now. The last time was when I decided it would be the last time. When I smudged my toe while moving all my stuff over to another place to get my fingernails done, I found myself nervous to even mention it to him. Then while getting my fingernails done he cut my finger and had the nerve to tell me it was my fault because I was too tense. So you're trying to tell me that my finger was too straight for you, therefore you cut it? I am now in a huge amount of pain, and seems to only be getting worse. Hopefully they clean their stuff. read more

WARNING: AVOID AVOID AVOID (Will not let me post pic of my foot) I HAVE A HOLE ON THE SIDE OF MY FOOT This is what happened to my foot while having a pedicure with 'Kathy'. My daughter was sitting next to me when her pedicure lady told Kathy about my foot (while talking in a language I am unfamiliar with) at this point my daughter saw it and told me to look at my foot. Before I could look at it, Kathy quickly pours Bleach in the water with my feet still in the water. It hurt!! That's when I tried to tell Kathy that she had been so rough that I now have a sizable hole on the side of foot, however she didn't listen and quickly finished up. I was to shy to say anything more at that point (DUMB) and figured it would just need a band aid and some Polysporin. The next morning we were off to Orlando. When I woke that morning, we saw it was infected. I immediately called 'Nails For You' asked for the manager and after giving them my name and explaining what had happened with my foot, he came back on the phone and said Kathy had never heard of me before. How can that be?? Kathy had been doing ALL my manicures/pedicures for 3 years and even calling on occasion to my home to see how I was doing as I am chronically ill. Not to mention, that when we would go get our nails done, it was always me and my 2 teenagers and when she would see me coming, she would run over and hug me. Now there was an issue and suddenly she had never heard of me before. The manager hung the phone up and that was it. So, I ended up getting a Tetanus shot and antibiotics for my vacation. BEWARE: Yes, they might give you a discount if you pay cash (it actually is pricier, considering I found a new great nail salon that's considerably cheaper) but then you have no receipt. It took almost 6 weeks to heal and now I have a pretty nasty scar on my foot. I'll make it my mission to let as many people know to NEVER GO HERE!! read more

This review is for the Oshawa Centre location. My first and last experience at this salon was absolutely horrible. Went in for a new set of powder gel nails- the lady i had told me she had plenty of time to do them (it was 7:30pm- mall closed at 9pm). She then proceeded to rush the entire process of removing my old nails, cutting my fingers several times. When putting the new tips on, she didn't even check if they were straight and cut them super short before i even had a chance to tell her what length i wanted. Polish application was sloppy- there were bits of excess polish and dried powder gel all over my skin. Had to ask the owner to fix them after she was done (attempted to mention this to her several times but she pretended not to understand me). When they dried, I could see little bubbles and grooves in the nails. Owner spoke to the lady, who then grabbed my hand roughly to show my nails to her coworker while speaking angrily in another language. It was so unprofessional!! Even after I was trying to be polite, she acted like I was being difficult simply because I wanted what I paid for. Needless to say, I will never return. Insanely overpriced too! read more

Yesterday I attended the "Nails For You" location at the Five Points Mall at 285 Taunton Road East in Oshawa, Ontario. I went for a pedicure as well as to have my old gel nails removed and new ones put. I was told the total cost would be $60 with no tax since I was paying cash. I was directed to the back to have my pedicure first. The technician told me to put my feet in the water and then disappeared. Two chairs over from me there was a lady also having a pedicure. She had her 2 children with her (2 girls approximately 4 and 7 years old) From the time I sat down her 2 girls were disruptive. They were running around and sliding on the chairs used by the technicians. The mother demanded the TV be turned to annoying cartoons for her children, but this did nothing to placate them. They continued screaming at the top of their lungs, and then the older child figured out how to turn on the water for the foot basin in the empty chair next to me. The oldest child splashed water all over me, but neither the mother nor the staff reacted at all. The older child then showed the younger child how to turn on the water, and they proceeded to turn on the water on other empty basins. Again the staff said nothing. The older one then again took the faucet which can extend on a hose (similar to one in a kitchen) turned and sprayed me, getting me soaked. I reacted by yelling loudly and was shushed and admonished by the technician doing the mothers manicure. I was about to leave when my technician appeared. I asked for a towel to dry off but was told "the towels are not used for that". She said she would take care of me and started the pedicure. However she also played and talked with the younger child, who was busy putting the technician chairs beside the pedicure chairs, meaning I would have no room to step down when I was done. Again the staff did nothing. The mother was screaming at her older child to "take off my shoes before you snap the heel" The mother was lead away for her manicure at another area of the salon but her children continued to play on the chairs, run around and scream. The younger child took my shoes (my feet were drying) and when I yelled for her to give them back another technician told me to stop being mean. When my feet were dry I was called to another area but I had time getting out of the pedicure chair since the technician chair the younger one moved was in the way. When I was called for my pedicure I had to wait a because the older child was sitting in the client chair and didn't want to move because she wanted to sit next to her mom. When they finally got her to move the technician put on a movie where a monster was killing people which scared the kids and made them upset. The mom yelled at them so they went to the area behind the chairs and were running around. Meanwhile my nails were soaking in acetone so they could be removed. The children were playing with the small nail paint brushes and the younger one saw a bottle lotion on the table beside me. She went to grab it and hit the acetone bowl, which spilled the acetone all over me (my lap, chest, legs arms and feet. Again the staff did nothing even though they saw it. One tech brought me a small towel but when I asked them to put more acetone in the bowl she said there was still enough, even though there wasn't any. The two girls were using the nail brushes to paint lotion on themselves and everything else in sight. They were also screaming, climbing on the hand washing sink and playing with the blinds. The staff did not ask the mother to control her children and told me SEVERAL if I didn't like it that it was my own problem. Finally I threatened to leave, even though my nails were only half off, so I was taken to a table in another area. The children continued to run around yelling and making a mess all over the salon. The tech finished soaking off my old nails, put the tips on with barely any glue glue, put a thin layer of powder gel on and then painted my nails, fingers and cuticles with a thick gel topcoat (nowhere close to the proper procedure for gel nails) It was also noticed at that point that the tech who had done my pedicure had not put on a topcoat leading to the polish already being chipped. I didn't care because I just wanted to get out of there. When I went to pay they told me it was $85 plus tax even though they had told me $60 at the start. I had to argue with them over what price to pay and refused to pay it. The staff member I argued with had also admonished me again for not being nice to the young girls. This was the worst nail salon experience I have ever had and I will never go back to any Nails For You salon ever again, even if it was free. If I could give it zero stars I would. read more

I had my cousins wedding to go to next day so as I was already in the mall I decided to get my nails done. So I walk up to the counter and ask the guy how long will it take for acrylic shellac. He replied 45 mins. I had 1.5 hours till the mall closed to do nails and buy shoes. So I figured I'll go for it. I got in the chair right away and had someone drop the shellac coloured nails thing in my face and it took me a solid 30 secs to make up my mind cause I thought the faster the better. Then it was me just sitting there waiting. 3 more people came during this time and they were seated and serviced. A full 15 mins passed and I asked the lady in charge if someone was gonna help me. She said yeah she's having dinner. I asked for someone else since I'm on a schedule. Out of the back this lady showed up and had a mouth full of food and just plopped down. She than argued that I should get UV or BIO gel since it was better for me (of course it was higher in cost too). I had to keep saying I'm okay, I'll stick to what I had asked for. This nail job took an hour and 20 mins. She was slow and kept adjusting my hand and yanking me forward and really made me uncomfortable. She had long nails that she kept digging in my skin and cuticle even though I asked her not to. She rolled her eyes and at the end of it she threw my hand back and said in the light. I finally was done and went to go pay where the guy was "announcing" tips. I said to him that he should have been more clear that it would take longer than 45 mins. He went off on me. He said you were talking too much and that it was cause I was being cheap. Mind you I didn't speak a peep after the acrylic vs UV vs BIO gel convo. It pissed me off how horrible their customer service was and how bad they treated their customers. Never again. read more

This is for the Courtice location at King and Townline. I have been going to this location for almost 1 1/2 years. I always had Lisa do my nails as she always did a very nice looking shellac. The last time I went she cut my finger with the dremel so bad that it wouldn`t stop bleeding. I was uncomfortable but did not make a fuss except to ask that disinfectant be used rather than alcohol and could I please have a Band-Aid. While she continued the rest of my nails she nicked my cuticle...no biggy but I jumped a little because it stung...she continued to tell me that that is why I was cut earlier...I was making her nervous. Anyway, when I went to pay she disappeared...Kevin told me there was no charge because they cut me so bad. I asked where Lisa went and he said in the back...she`s stressed and upset. I thanked him for waiving the fee (which was a good idea) but tipped her anyway and told Kevin to pass a message to Lisa not to worry about it. Well today I called to make an appointment, he gave me a time and when I gave my name he started talking to someone (not in English) came back on the line to tell me if I was the one that was cut last time, that Lisa does not want to do my nails anymore.she`s too nervous. Not cool. I should also add, I`m not sure how clean they are. She once came to complete my shellac after working on someones pedicure with no gloves. I asked her if she could please wash her hands first and she looked at me like I had 2 heads lol...I mean seriously how do you not wash your hands after handling someones feet. read more

This review is for the Ritson and Taunton location. I've given this place a few chances to change my opinion, however each experience gets worse. Most recently, I had received a gel pedicure from them which resulted in a very painful pedicure with bleeding cuticles on most of my nails. Nothing about it was relaxing and it was the first pedicure in my life where a foot/leg massage was not included (but of course they still charged the same). That's half the reason people get pedicures! The pedicure took forever and my nail technician kept going back and redoing things. She also did extremely thick lines for the French white tip and it looks ugly. My friends nail technician also filed her toes almost to the point of bleeding and we are both in pain now after this experience. It would also help if I could understand a single thing they were saying - very uncomfortable and super awkward. Definitely won't be going there again, I'm assuming that's what most people have decided since the place is always deserted. I would give this place zero stars if possible. read more
