This is best place I've been for nails. I've been here three times for a gel manicure. The business owner is super sweet and does such a careful job! She really takes her time and my manicure lasted three weeks the last time I went there. If your nails are thin (like mine) they add an extra thick gel coat to strengthen the nails and make sure your manicure lasts without chipping. They have a huge selection of colors and great customer service. read more

After living in Cville for a little over two years, I finally found a salon that does awesome mani/pedis. I made an appointment the morning of for a gel manicure and pedicure. They had a huge color selection for both the gel colors and regular colors, which is different from most of the other salons in the area. They didn't have an exact match for the gel color I selected, but there were able to find one that was very, very close. I left the salon feeling like they had done a perfect job! The gel manicure last for about four weeks. I know you're not supposed to leave it on for that long, but I was on a long trip, and I was impressed by how long it lasted. The pedicure was great and lasted for a while without getting chipped as well. They did an excellent job, and I can honestly say this is the best salon in Cville after searching for a while. Note--be sure to bring cash for the tip because there isn't an ATM nearby. read more

Mum wanted to go have a pedicure before traveling. Did some research and checked the yelp reviews. Checked a few places and decided on this one. It was wonderful. Mum is specific and wanted one of the massaging chairs. They were so nice and took their time with the pedicure, they took care of all the little details. The chairs were great, and mum was very happy. They had good conversations, and the hot stones they used to massage our legs were wonderful. Mum ended up being so happy by the end, that the rest of the day was wonderful. Thank you all so much. Every time we are back up here we will be making an appointment. read more

Went in on a Sunday for a mani-pedi, walked in with no problem. It's clean and friendly, with great service. They do an EXCELLENT pedicure - not rushed, with great massage that includes hot stones. They also removed my calluses and cleaned up the cuticles very well. The massage chair is super comfy too. Manicure was likewise enjoyable - my cuticles were all ragged and my nails were out of shape - now they look great! There was also a good hand massage. I will definitely go back again - it was worth it for only $37! I had Sandy - she was friendly, and didn't force idle chit-chat (sometimes I'm not in a chatty mood, and it was relaxing to just zone out). One thing it's missing is some good magazines to read, and maybe some music. Otherwise, it was a great experience and I'd recommend it to my friends! read more

Not from in town so I called to make sure they accepted wall in's- they do and she even told me they were a little busy so to wait about 20 minutes. She was exactly right- I walked in and got right into a chair and the pedicure was awesome!! Very long leg run with a sea salt scrub and a hot stone massage for $30!!!! Awesome. They did change their prices recently (I read on a sign) that they are $30 Mon-Wed and I think a little more than that on other days. Was well worth it. And they had wifi! read more

I went by here yesterday to get a pedicure and there were 3 techs there. One was doing a manicure the other two was sweeping and hanging. They looked upset that I walked in and went on speaking in there language. Finally some said we are closed... I asked them "don't you close at 8?" they said yes... I said "well it's 7:25." The pedicure technician came out and said oh no I'm closed it's to late very rudely. I see a lot of reviews stating that they do a good job but have horrible customer service I don't know how well they do but I do know they don't treat people well enough to spend your money there. I called around and spoke to a tech from Creative nails less then .25 miles up the road. I asked her if she was closed and she asked me what I was getting done and told me come. What I didn't realize is that she had closed at 7:30 and it was 7:32. She did an amazing job and was extremely welcoming even though she stayed an extra 45 min for me. I highly recommend just going to creative nails over nails design. read more

I (along with other members of my family) have been coming here for several years. Every one of the staff gives a wonderful manicure or pedicure and their prices are reasonable, which is why they have so many "regulars". Leg massages with pedicures are some of the best you will ever find in any city. I have read some of the complaints about the staff not wanting to start an hour procedure, such as a pedicure, if it is too close to their closing time. I don't think this is bad customer service. These folks have children and homes to take care of just like the rest of us. And they start early (8 am) and close up late every day, and are closed only on Sundays. read more

Walked in tonight and only had to wait about 15 mins. Had a mani/pedi w/ Sandy and it was perfect! Great leg/foot massage (complete with hot stones) as well as a hand massage. A good nail shop in C'ville is hard to find. A friend recommended Sandy and I've been hooked since my first appointment. She takes her time and does a great job making sure your entire nail is covered. The hand massage feels ssoo good. Her shellac lasts longer too, they use a special top coat that really seals in the color. I went to another salon while out of town recently and the shellac chipped in less than a week.. As per my wife: I got a really nice French tip gel manicure as my first experience. 3 weeks later I returned to have them take off the polish, as they said they would. That was fine. After that, I decided to get a regular manicure while there. That was a mistake. The girl pulled at my cuticles and clipped my skin instead. A day later and several days later, I had fringed skin below my cuticles. She buffed my nails to take down the ridges, but she went too far. My nails are very thin now and I've had to file them back because they are breaking. Not going back to take another chance. read more

I really can't say enough great things about this place. I have been to 4 nail salons for acrylic nails in the past 6 months, and these guys are not just better, they are head and shoulders above any other place I have ever been. Their attention to detail is on point, and they do an emmaculate job on acrylics. Trust me, this is the place to go. And they are very clean, autoclave, and take express care to ventilate the shop and keep all offensive chemical smells to an absolute minimum. I wanted to respond to people who comment about their customer service: As a business that must take walk-ins as well as appointments to be competitive, you must understand that even if you make an appointment you will probably have to wait. Just apply a little bit of common sense and you will understand. I have seen grown women throw an absolute fit a few times while I was in Nails Design because they weren't getting seen immediately. i travel to charlottesville about six times a year. i have also had my gel nails done in the last year in tokyo, austin, minneapolis, and edmonton. this salon is the best salon i have been to outside of tokyo (where gel nails cost well over $100). i have used all three nail technicians at this salon. the male technician does liquid gel nails (a rare service in the US), while the two women techs do gel powder. my nails are always smooth and well sculpted when i leave this salon. but today the tech who goes by the name "sandy" outdid herself. they are flawless. absolutely seamless around the edges, beautifully shaped, on top and under the edge of the nails. this is THE best gel nail fill i have ever received. and the price was very good, $30. So, I have been looking for a new place to have a pedicure. The weather is starting to warm up and so I figured it was a great time to have one done. Went through all of the yelp reviews and was impressed with the reviews for this place. Plus a $25 pedicure? Great! Wellllll. Not so much. I am not sure why I had such a different experience than everyone else, but here is mine. The employees were friendly, but my pedicure was extremely short and included no foot/leg massage. None. Unless you count her rubbing lotion into my legs. I was pretty surprised. Also they did not do a good job scrubbing my feet. Polish is just ok. Honestly, I could have done a better job on my own feet. What a disappointment. However, they did have a really good massage chair. The interesting thing was that when I came in there was someone already having a pedicure and they had me in and out of there before hers was even finished. Why the difference, I wonder? read more
