Given the prices she charged I didn't think a tip was warranted. However when I said "oh I didn't think to tip you because you're the business owner" she replied that I did have to tip her and was a bit rude and pushy about it. I would say have a backup nail person on deck, because she has the potential to leave you high and dry.

I chose to have my service with whoever was available and was assigned to Rosa. I arrived exactly on time for my appt. I told them I was here for my appointment and was gestured towards one of the pedi stations. I peeked at the name tag of the woman at the station and it was Rosa. She had me choose which pack I wanted to use for the spa pedi then she went through a multi-step process. I wasnt counting but it felt like at least 5 steps. She set a 5 min timer for a foot massage and kept going a little bit after the timer went off. This was honestly the best pedicure I've had anywhere. A lot of places do a quick brush of the foot but Rosa really brushed my feet. Afterwards she painted my toenails really quickly. They look great and are still going strong. I browsed pinterest to decide what I wanted my nails to look like (I had been looking while getting my pedi too). Rosa started browsing pinterest on her phone too and suggested styles to me. Rosa was really patient, i never felt rushed. I think she had another appt soon after me but i didn't feel like she rushed through doing my nails. She checked that i liked the snowflake on each hand before we cured it. We took the inspiration from Rosa's nails. I took a picture of both of our nails together at the end! The edges of my mani started lifting at the one week mark. I could feel them catch on my clothes. Its been a week and a half now and almost every nail is lifting. Some of the edges that lifted have come off. Not ideal. But the day I had them done, I did have my hands in and out of water for around 2 hours. On some of my nails you can see the stroke marks of the metallic purple and where it tapers off at the edge of my nail isn't consistent from nail to nail. Overall I liked my experience and would come back. I wonder if they'll last longer next time. If my next gel mani starts lifting at the one week mark again I'll have to consider going elsewhere.

On that note, i will first start by explaining that my first two visits were exceptional -- I did not wait long at all and took advantage of the $35 gel manicure or gel pedicure special they were running and was quite pleased with the results. Since my last two visits, it has seemingly gone down hill. I visited last week and there was an hour wait for (of which I was fine with) a gel pedicure. I noticed that they were seemingly understaffed so I decided I would come back another day being as though the wait would've surely been much longer than an hour considering the circumstances. This brings me to today's experience, which was the impetus for me writing this review. I strolled in and noticed that there were a lot of people being serviced and several people waiting. I asked how long the wait was and I was told an hour, with that being said I decided to make an appointment for a few hours later so I could run some errands in the meantime and ensure that I got in to get a gel pedicure. When I returned for my appointment time, it looked like the customers there were just getting their services underway and no one looked like they would be available for my respective appointment time. I told the young woman at the front desk that I was returning for my appointment at 4 and she looked seemingly shocked of which I found to be odd considering I scheduled the appointment through her a few hours before (in which she wrote my name, number and time of the appt). In light of this, the young woman told me to take a seat and that a technician would be available shortly. While I was waiting for a technician to become available to complete my service, I noticed additional customers entering and leaving the establishment due to long wait times. Moreover, it seems as though the young woman at the front desk forgot that a few people had appointments, seemingly frustrating people that were clearly waiting to be serviced and resulting in more prospective customers leaving. After about 30 minutes, one of technicians completed a pedicure and I should have been next in line considering that I had an appointment. Well, the technician gestured to a woman that came in after me to sit in her chair so she could do her pedicure. I was confused and asked the woman at the front desk who would be servicing me to ensure I was going to serviced and to confirm that I should be getting serviced by the technician that took the other customer that came in after me. The young woman at the front desk then says I will get serviced AFTER the woman that came in after me. I explained to her that I had an appointment and she looked completely dumbfounded and said "I forgot". There was no apology, no mention that the issue would be rectified and no reassurance that I would be serviced at all. Due to all of this, I decided to leave and will not be returning. This establishment is unprofessional, I tried to overlook this the first couple of times I went because I wanted to support this nail salon because it is not only Black-owned but new to the area. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism and implore prospective customers to really read these reviews because they are not favorable and not an exaggeration. I hope they implement better business practices in the future, but in the meantime I will not be returning to this establishment.
