The time sitting there always feels like hanging with a girlfriend. She's so chatty and funny and also makes the entire time very cozy with tea, slippers to wear, and Netflix. I am not sure of the nail art landscape in NYC but I do think she is slightly more expensive than Paintbox or other popular salons. My opinion, though, is that the personalization and comfort makes it well worth the extra cost. Everyone should book with Emi!

I asked her why she could no longer do my nails and she never responded. Echoing another reviewer, I suspect she was upset about a tip. I felt uncomfortable tipping her because she's the business owner and sole employee, and tbh this salon was being run out of her apartment illegally. Given the prices she charged I didn't think a tip was warranted. However when I said "oh I didn't think to tip you because you're the business owner" she replied that I did have to tip her and was a bit rude and pushy about it. I would say have a backup nail person on deck, because she has the potential to leave you high and dry.

I was going for a pedicure with their Monday & Tuesday special for $34. While waiting to get my feet done I decided to do my nails. The girl who did my nails did an exceptional job. Her patience, preciseness and the look of my nails were great. Also, one of the workers offered me a complementary bottle of water. When I was finished with my nails my nail girl asked the pedicure lady if she would take me. She said no and put on her things and left the shop. It was around 7pm so I was like whatever. Didn't think I would be back, but when boredom strikes.... I ended up coming back the next day for an exceptional job on my toes as well. Would I return? Yes I would. It was a decent experience and I feel like the quality was worth the price.

I had to come back to have it fixed, and I was charged more than I expected for the repair, which was already disappointing. Despite that, I decided to give the salon another chance. I walked in requesting a simple white acrylic pedicure. The staff asked one of the nail technicians if she wanted to do my service, and she looked around, shook her head "no," and then the employees laughed and giggled among themselves. As a customer, that was incredibly unprofessional and made me feel unwelcome. Then I was told the acrylic pedicure would cost $90, even though the salon's own price chart listed it at $80. It felt like the price was being increased to discourage me from getting the service after the technician made it clear she didn't want to do it. I politely said, "I'll be back," but the truth is I won't. This would have been my third time trying to support this business, and the lack of professionalism was the final straw. Customer service should make people feel welcome from the moment they walk through the door, not embarrassed or like they're an inconvenience. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Respect, professionalism, and consistency matter just as much as the quality of the nails.
