I have never spent money on something more uncomfortable and unpleasant than the manicure I just experienced. I walked in to Pure Lux and asked for a gel manicure. What I now realize is that I was given, and was charged for, a luxury gel manicure, which cost $20 dollars more and has left me scraping under my nails with a cuticle trimmer for the last hour. I was confused as to why the tech got out a mechanical device to file my nails, as I only wanted a basic gel manicure. But I'd never gotten my nails done here before so I figured this was the norm. At 45 minutes in, when the tech had not even begun to apply the actual color to my nails, I was incredibly confused. Why was a basic gel manicure taking so long? The entire process was so uncomfortable: it involved endless filing and mechanical buffing. My fingers were dusty and the tech's gloves manipulating my fingers felt abrasive and unsettling. All of the dry nail that the tech filed off made its way under my nails, and each gel coat caused it to set. The layer grew thicker and thicker until it felt the bottom of my nails was fused with my fingertips. I asked the tech to clean beneath the nails but she barely fixed the issue at all. At the end, I asked again for her to clean underneath the nails. She made another mild pass. I had to ask to use the tool myself and she seemed annoyed and exasperated that I was trying to take care of the issue myself to ease my discomfort. After the tech charged me, I looked at the website and saw the service correlated with the price I'd paid. It was not what I asked for at all. I'm incredibly frustrated that I not only had to sit in discomfort for nearly an hour and a half, but that I hadn't asked to this and paid more for it, AND that I remain uncomfortable now that I'm home. I won't be returning (although I may have to to get this removed--at this rate, it's all I can feel and I can't concentrate on anything else). If you decide to get your nails done here, although I don't recommend it, again, ensure you and your tech are on the same page re: the service you've requested or they will upsell you/overcharge you without your consent.

The prices listed online did not match what I was charged. I received a fill, not a full set, and was charged $100 for a simple color with a few chrome studded dots. The design was not complicated, so I was surprised by the final price. Even more frustrating, the chrome started coming off the dots the very next day. When I reached out about it, I was told that "that's what chrome does." However, I've had chrome on my nails many times before and have never had it start coming off after only one day. I scheduled an appointment to have the issue fixed. On the day of the appointment, traffic was heavier than expected, so I proactively texted and called to let her know I would be about 10 minutes late. I received no response despite multiple calls and messages. After I had already rearranged my day and was on my way, I was eventually told that I had essentially been double-booked and that it might be better to reschedule. She later offered a different appointment time that evening, but by that point I had already spent over an hour trying to get a response and figure out whether my appointment was even happening. When I didn't immediately respond, I was told that I should have made my decision sooner because she was going home for the night. I found that especially frustrating considering my original appointment time had not been honored in the first place. Living in Jackson, traffic and road delays are common, especially during the busy season. I was only running about 10 minutes behind and had proactively communicated my ETA the entire time. Most businesses are understanding of minor delays when customers communicate, which is exactly what I did. I had also rearranged my schedule to make the appointment work and had very limited availability because family was visiting. When I asked for a partial refund considering both the quality issues and the scheduling problems, I was completely ignored. Overall, I found the experience unprofessional, the communication poor, and the pricing far higher than the quality of service provided. There are plenty of other nail salons that value their customers' time and stand behind their work. I would not recommend spending your money here.

Several of our nails weren't completely painted and there was bubbling and lumps on many. There was no buffing so the edges were all rough from the emery board she used to file the nails almost completely down (no clippers). The manager was quick to respond and stated she would discount my service and I would see it in a few days. She was appropriately responsive and apologetic. That was on July 14. It is now August 7th and the manager has stopped responding to my messages and we have not seen any refund in our bank. It is disappointing that she has not acted in the good faith she promised. I suppose since we were traveling guests she realized that our return visit wouldn't be affected. My family does plan to return to the Resort the salon is located on, but we will not be using the salon again. The gal that performed the service was VERY friendly but stated she was a massage therapist. I was informed when I booked that I would not have a nail tech, but that we would love the results. I was not expecting a full and beautiful mani/pedi for my daughter and me, but this experience wasn't even decent. Again, the gal was very nice. But the value of the service fell far below the price. I do not recommend this salon unless you are with a known specialist. And even then, I do not have faith that management will professionally handle complaints if your experience requires any intervention.

She ran it under water, applied product to the strands, not the scalp, rinsed that out and repeated with conditioner. At no time did she touch my scalp, much less shampoo my hair. Consequently the blow out lasted less than 24 hours before it was just flat, dirty hair. In my opinion and experience a blow out includes a shampoo, which means vigorous scrubbing of the scalp. This is more of a wet and style; the website should be clear on that detail.
