Not even a week into my manicure the entire nail peeled off, I stopped by on my lunch to get one nail fixed (5 minute task) and though they were busy she told me she's fully booked and not flexible. I pushed back and she sat me and did it herself. She threw my hand around, pushed a chair in so aggressively as she got up that it hit my foot. Then she accused me of peeling my gel off, when in reality the job they did was so bad that the entire nail peeled off a day after the manicure. So I've been visiting Coronado for over 4 years now and occasionally would do mani on this place. Mostly I had OK experience and couple of times I had a really good tech! That's why I give 2 starts - there're several people who do decent job. Unfortunately, today the "tech" completely ruined my nails beyond anything. By ruined I mean ruined and there's nothing I can do. I stopped by to make a gel mani - I had previously done gel mani in this exact place like 10 days ago, everything was ok. This time the "tech" took the entire top level of my nail while filing off the gel! She was extremely harsh and used the file not suited for the job. One of the nails has a dent that turned bloody. It hurts a lot. It's not OK. Her excuse - my nails are too thin, that's why she destroyed them by overfilling. She used the wrong file and didn't know how to hold the tool! I've been doing gel for over 10 years (I take breaks) and no one ever in my life destroyed the nails like she did. The administration tried to fix the issue, but she couldn't do anything - my nails are ruined beyond repair, there's no way to fix them. I want the lady to be responsible for what she's done. She needs to have her license removed. It's not a minor thing like a shape I didn't like, it's a health issue. After 3 hours my nail hurts badly So what can I say - just like me, you might end up with the lady who will do a good job, or the one who will ruin your nails. read more

I called to make a reservation for basic meni and pedi because I am trying to find "my spot" to get my nails done and I always saw this place packed whenever I pass by it. The place was clean, busy & beautiful! Even though I had an appointment at 1:00pm I showed up 5 minutes late (parking ain't easy) I had to wait about 15-20 minutes! Checking in was easy (using a tablet) then picking a nail color and wait to be seated. This place had great nail techs but unfortunately I didn't get one of those awesome ladies. I think if I got the names of those Neil techs I would have a different review but honestly I could get the same result in a different nail salon for cheaper price. I couldn't communicate better with my nail tech since she did my pedi and meni since I get an allergic reactions from scrubs but not lotions. I ended up with dry feet and not so great nails! The receptionist is so rude. When I went in last night, she was on the phone and didn't even bother to look up as I checked *myself* in AND out. I requested an SNS manicure because there's less filing of the natural nail and I do not like the UV lights used with gel manicures. And after finishing the three coats of powder, she filed and smoothed the surface, but my nails were still VERY pillowy shaped and thick. I asked her to file them down more. She was obviously annoyed. (Even though my fingernails were like unnaturally shaped and 3 mm thick.) A couple of the nails, I had to ask her to file down multiple times, and thanked her every time she went back to file them. At this point, she was clearly "huffy" with me. And my nails are thin in the middle but THICK where they should curve to match the shape of my natural nail beds. This is AFTER having her continue to file them down. And instead of finishing the SNS as she should..... she applies 2 coats of gel polish (which I specifically didn't want) to the top which makes no sense. And made them even thicker. The application was wrong. The cuticles are sloppy. My nails are the weirdest shape and way too thick. The receptionist was rude, the tech was irritable. And she applied gel when I specifically asked for dipping powder. This place is convenient if you live in Coronado but just don't go here it's not worth it. read more

Not only does she do the absolute best mani/pedi and massage but she is the absolute sweetest person. This salon will always have my business as long as Tonya is there! I have been coming here for five years. Unfortunately, the manager Holly left and things have changed. There are little upcharges such as if you get a manicure they sometimes charge extra for paying attention to cuticles or shaping the nail which at one time was actually part of the service. Prices have gone up like everything else but when I am charged extra for things that should be part of the service-It doesn't make me want to come back. Once you get service it's fast but maybe too fast...Yesterday when I got home from pedicure there was still sticky sugar scrub reside on the back of my leg. WORST NAIL SALON EVER! Every time I go I have had the WORST experience. The nail tech who did my hands each time I've been there was so RUDE. She kept getting upset at ME because she kept messing up! She had to do my nails 3x over because I had to point out that she hadn't evenly filed my nails, or she missed a spot, etc. i was so polite with her each time and she got so upset !! She started to slam the tools she was using and saying things to her coworkers. It was JUST a simple pedicure!! This time around I went to get dip and again she filed my nails terribly. They were so uneven and I had to keep telling her that I wanted them even! Anyway, the same attitude and still did not come out good. OK... in fairness, I need to alter my review of Nail studio Coronado. I have been back a couple times, even though I said, I probably would not. (hey, they are very convenient to where I live.) On my first visit there, I had a less than stellar experience, hence, my negative review. I felt guilty about it, ever since my last two experiences, and wanted to make things right. Each time I had been a walk in client, and the first time was on a Saturday where they were completely slammed. The next two times were at off hours, and I had a much more pleasant experience. The nail technicians were not rushed, and I actually got a decent pedicure massage. So all in all, I think my first review was a little hasty, and I know the women that work there, work VERY hard. Everyone has a bad day, and perhaps the first day I went, was an example of that. Please forgive me for not taking that into consideration. read more

POOR QUALITY PRODUCTS!! Came on Mother's Day to get my gel polish changed and on day 7 the polish started lifting and had bubbles. Called in on Tuesday to see if they would fix it and they said I had to pay in full $40 to have the polish fixed.
