Horrible service all around. Two people and both of our nail sets were terrible. One set was thick and looked like they had already grown out and the other set was thin and misshapen. They also called a young lady there ugly. I guess they didn't realize people they "service" can be multilingual. The establishment could also use a visit from the health department. They do a good job. They are very nice and kind to me. They do an excellent job on the feet. My toe nails looks fabulous.

The customer service there sucks. They are so rude, you ask change and they go off saying your wasting your time when you come there to get what YOU WANT. A lady messed up on my thumb and I didn't even wanna bother her to change it bc she is so rude. Never going back. And my friend went with me and all around her fingers are cut up and some of her nails are not the same length and some are pointy and some are not. Worst nail place EVER!!!! read more

I went to nail star in garden dale and had the worst experience. I gave her my color and she cut the nail she didn't ask me what shape or anything she just went on. The nails were rushed through took about 10 min. My purse was beside me and the lady told me to move it out of the way over and over and I couldn't understand her so I said I can't hear you and she took it and moved it herself and yelled and then she yanked my hand to paint it and the polish on my other hand scraped against hers and came off so she screamed at me for "messing up my nail" and I told her that It happened my her hand scraped against her hand and she said why didn't you tell me that and I said I didn't bc you would yell and she said I don't yell I tell. we called to talk to the manager and the guy that took the complaint said he saw it and cut me off, said "thank you" and hung up. I have had MANY gel designs happen to my nails. In the south and in LA. I am currently visiting home for the holidays and found and wanted that cute eye design at the bottom on every half moon cuticle look. They say they can't do such a look even though it was on the base of my nail and have wide nail bed. Using acrylic and regular nail polish when I specifically asked to take my ratchet long nails off!It was a miscommunication to say the very least. But she quite brutal taking the old set off of the last few fingers that she was shaping to recycle for this look as it was clinging onto the nail bed. She kept telling me I had fungus AT LEADT THREE TIMES in my pinky nail on my right because the acrylic nail nearly ripped off my natural one being called "nail lifting" which had some grime wedge in the bottom. As I'm a pole dancer and use my hands to support my body weight entirely, having fake nails make is very difficult to grip the pole and have never had nail fungus before. They had no artistic grasp or gave a crap what the customer wanted. I just wanted my acrylic off and black nails with little blue eyes poking out where the nail crescent is. Apparently that is ludacris to expect in Bama, at least from this establishment. Don't come here unless you want basic uneven nails with rude service. Good riddance indeed! Went to Walmart to complete my nail art MYSELF with store bought nail polish since people paid for it are unable to deal with my CRAZY ideas. I was t a bitch, and I still tipped very well. Wouldn't even give a star if I didn't have to. Used to love Nail Star, now I will not be coming back. My daughter and I both got our nails done. The nails started popping off after four days. We've had them done many times and this has never happened. The guy said that it's normal have to get them done every week. Not true I get them done enough to know. He said he would look but made us wait forever while he walked around. Also got a horrible pedicure the same day as the nails. Almost made the lady stop half way through. She was rough and very quick like she had other things to do. It was not busy at all we were the only ones here. Should have known better. It was not worth the money. We will not be back! Go to nail model. They are much friendlier and take their time. read more

I personally would never go back or advise anyone else to. The dark Asian lady was not very pleasant personality wise and that is half of the experience. She also didn't do a great job on my feet. Didn't bother using the necessary tools to get them nice and smooth. Don't waste your money. read more

Really unhappy with my experience at Nail Star. I came from out of state for a wedding, and the bride and I went to Nail Star to have our nails done before the rehearsal dinner. We decided to get gel color manicures, for $30 plus the tip. They did not offer CND Shellac but they did have some other gel brand and we decided to take the chance. They didn't have many colors to choose from, and they told the bride that she could not have the type of manicure she wanted because she was choosing gel. They were trying to upsell her into getting an airbrush on top of the gel. They could have done the type of manicure she'd requested but it would have added more to her bill if she'd gotten airbrush. They also told her they could not do a freehand airbrush, they could only do the pre-made airbrush designs (which were not what we were looking for) so either way she wasn't going to get what she asked for. She ended up getting a cute manicure but it wasn't what she had wanted. My nails were not at all what I wanted. Because there were so few colors to choose from I didn't really love the colors I went with, I was just trying to find something that wouldn't clash with my bridesmaid's dress. They didn't have many neutral colors, they mostly had loud and garish colors, glitters, and metallics. The polish was goopy and left streaks, and the entire nail was not covered. There were lots of spots on the sides where the natural nail was showing. The manicure itself was not great since my nails were filed lopsided. My thumbnail and ring finger were all wonky on both hands. It took about 30 minutes to even be seen to get started on my manicure, and then it took 45 minutes for the manicure itself. So by the time we were done we had to leave to get to the rehearsal dinner. I didn't have time to tell them to fix the nails that didn't look good. Before we had even gotten started the Mother of the Groom had paid for our manicure in full plus tip, and she'd left the salon before we were done. So we weren't able to ask for her money back. The salon was clean looking, but not immaculate. They kept their tools in drawers so I couldn't see if they had been disinfected with barbisol or not, so I just hoped they had been. The stations looked a bit cluttered but they were busy that morning so I didn't think much about it. There were not enough techs to go around though, so we sat around for a long time before being seen. I saw some ladies walk in and turn around and walk right back out a few minutes later because they didn't want to wait. The next morning the Mother of the Bride and Maid of Honor went to Nail Model down the road from Nail Star, and both of them got the exact same manicure that the bride had wanted. They didn't know what the bride had wanted, it was a total coincidence and their nails looked great. Next time I'm in town and need a manicure, I will not be going to Nail Star. Instead I will consider going to Nail Model. read more
