Nail Spa on 14th have new owners - Christine, and Linda. They previously owned "Jade Nails and Spa" on Highway 7 and Woodbine. I have been going to them for 8 years - and still going. Their services are superb, and they are always attentive to what you ask for or want. I always get Bio-gel on my hands (typically I go with a coffin, or almond shape - they are excellent with shaping), and shellac pedicures. Their waxing services are also great. Always 10/10, they have never disappointed me - their services are so clean, masking, PPE, utensils are disposable, and disinfected with each client. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed! They've always treated me so well over the years. I forgot to mention, you get a massage after your nail service - hot stone massages with your pedicure, and regular back massage after your gel mani. I bought a groupon (the fine print says you need to book at least two days before your desired appointment) to visit this salon for a mani / pedi. When I first walked in, the salon did not look too clean. It looked a bit dusty and the chairs looked a bit dirty. I was told to choose my colours and sit in the massage chair. The massage chair was very comfortable and I enjoyed the massage as the lady began my pedicure. I saw a sign advertising an upgrade and I purchased this to make my experience more luxurious. The upgrade included an exfoliating foot scrub, a hot stone massage and a paraffin treatment. I think it was $15 but I didn't feel it was completely worth it. They used very little paraffin and the stones were too hot at first so she cooled them down and then they were too cold. Where I normally go the hot stone massage is included and my entire treatment is $35. At this spa it would have been much more if I didn't have the groupon. About 10 minutes into my treatment the entire location began to smell like garbage. It was a terrible smell and the other lady eventually went to the front of the store and closed the door. I'm not sure why it took her so long to close the door but the smell didn't get better for quite some time. The Pros: The employees are really nice and my pedicure lasted many weeks. The groupon was a good price. The Cons: The location isn't very accessible if you don't have a car. The salon doesn't look too clean and my manicure had a bubble on one of the nails when I was leaving the salon. I was in a bit of a rush so I didn't say anything but if I wasn't, I probably would have asked her to fix it. Would I Return? It's very unlikely read more

"Living your best life" means different things to different people. For some people it's going on vacation, for others it's spending time with family and friends, but a couple weeks ago for me and a friend, it was getting our nails did at Nail Bar on 14th. Before we continue, note that I am a man who has only ever had a manicure done once before this. (See my review of the InterContinental Toronto Center.) So take my opinion with a grain of salt. Nail Bar on 14th is a small salon along (you guessed it) 14th avenue. They have a small staff that, to my knowledge, offer pedicures, manicures, and nail work, etc. From what I recall, they have 5-6 massage chairs, and a couple of seats for the non mani-pedi work. Since I had already experienced a manicure previously, this time around I sprang for the pedicure. The experience was altogether a comfortable one. At first I was left to my own devices while my feet soaked in warm water. I eventually figured out how to operate the massage chair, which made for a bit of relaxing stimulus that I wasn't quite prepared for. Then they got to work on my admittedly tough man feet, scraping away years of use and abuse with various tools and liquids. By the time it was all over, my feet were smooth as a baby's bottom, and weirdly soft. If the Nail Bar were to shoot for improvement, they would improve the rather bland decor of the space, and in general give it more of a relaxing ambiance. Were I someone who appreciated regular pampering and nail work, I would be fine coming back to the Nail Bar again. Not a bad place to try out for a reasonably priced mani-pedi. read more

I decided to do a spontaneous mani/pedi with my friend and suggested this place since it's usually her go to. $35 for a mani/pedi was a good deal so off we went and arrived at approximately 5:30. Like the salon name says, it's located in a mini plaza on 14th avenue. The interior looked a bit..bland like a salon rented a space and just put everything inside without a thought for design. Some pedicure massage chairs to the right and a table for manicures to the left with pictures of their many nail designs taped onto the wall, but it is what it is. We had some time to pick colours and started off with the pedicure first. The massage chair was comfortable and the ladies took the time to make sure that the water was just the right temperature for us. I had some exfoliation done and it was nice to feel pampered, but it was odd that my lady didn't do a massage for me while my friend got the whole deal. The manicure on the otherhand..was pretty sloppily done. Maybe they wanted to rush so that they can close the shop by 7, but still you can be quick and have good quality. When I got home, I noticed that my thumbs weren't even filed to match properly, one was bordering almond shaped while the other was rounded (I requested rounded). Also, the nail polish wasn't painted smoothly either. You can clearly see that the different layers at edges near my cuticle area and there are bubbles scattered across all my nails from the thick polish. Finally, and this is a nitpick, but while my friend got a wonderful long hand massage by her manicurist (I assume it was the boss), I only got a quick wipe of cream across my hands. I have been here once before for just a pedicure and had an ok experience, so decided to purchase a Groupon for shellac mani and pedi, and went in Saturday afternoon. (FYI even if you have a Groupon make sure to bring money, there is some sort of $5+ tax charge they only mention to you right at the end when you're leaving, luckily I had my debit card with me) Overall, mainly very disappointed with the results of the shellac manicure, but satisfied with the pedicure hence the rating. The salon itself was clean; & as I had an appointment, they were able to accommodate me as soon as I entered. Firstly, the uneven-ness and blotchiness of the polish is super evident on both hands, I've never had a SHELLAC manicure look this bad. As well, within a day, the polish was beginning to peel back on my right index finger. As of this morning, the polish on both the index and middle fingers has noticeably peeled. The 'shine' has also begun to disappear from a few of my fingers, which now requires me to put a top coat on. The pedicure, however, was fine and relaxing; I enjoyed the massage chairs. From a health perspective though, I do wish they could at least wipe down the water basin between clients or even provide a new chair if possible. I was unhappy when asked to sit in the same chair another client had just gotten out of with water still in the basin. Came here with one of my friends after purchasing a Groupon. I got a pedicure with a 20 minute foot massage for $28. My friend got a shellac manicure and a regular pedicure, I'm not 100% sure how much she got her deal for. Upon arrival, we had to wait a while but we didn't mind because we were debating on what colour to choose. They do not have a huge colour selection, so if you do come here, try to bring your own colour if you're picky. The workers were okay, didn't really communicate with us except for the lady who helped me, she was nice. The workers just kept talking non-stop within themselves. My massage was pretty good, I enjoyed it and definitely needed a foot massage. I chose white nail polish and loved how that colour looked. However, my pedicure wasn't that great. I loved it at first, but after drying it and on my way home I noticed that all my nails were not shaped the same way. Especially four of my toe nails on the left side. They were slanted and noticeable. Although the lady did all the steps needed for a pedicure, the shaping process did not turn out good. All in all, I probably wouldn't be back. DO NOT come here. I went here simply to get my nails removed in MARCH... it is now July and I am still waiting for my nails to grow back properly because the girl shaved so much of my nails off. For two weeks after my nails were drilled off it was in such intense pain, and my nails kept on ripping so much that I had to purchase a serum to strengthen them again. This was my first nail experience and I wish I followed my gut instinct instead of assuming the professional knows best - I was so uncomfortable and in pain (legit felt like my nails were burning) the entire time of the removal. You could physically see afterwards where she had over drilled the nail, and it hurt so much. read more

This newly opened nail salon and spa is bright, clean and spacious. I came with my cousin and 2.5 year old daughter and made a girls pamper morning out of it. My cousin and I got mani pedis (my mani was shellac), my daughter got a mani (multi-colour as requested), and I also did upper lip and under arm waxing. We were not disappointed! The staff are a pleasure to chat with, extremely patient (with my toddler and also taking their time with our mani pedis) and have a great variety of nail polish and shellac available. They do close at 7pm, so they were able to squeeze me in for a shellac manicure and regular pedicure at 5:30. Although they were running late, they ladies there were very nice and gave me the full treatment I had requested. They talked to each other, as there was some language barrier between us. They staff there had basic English and spoke in Mandarin a majority of the time. I was able to throw in some Cantonese words to let them know what I wanted. Overall, they did what I had asked and completed in quite a timely manner. I had purchased a groupon with 2 of my friends and decided to try it out. We booked at appointment for 4 pm for a mani & pedi. Upon arriving there were already four people being taken care of so we understood we had to wait a little bit. We waited about 30 minutes until we got seated for our pedicures. The place was very clean and well taken care of but colour selection for regular polish was small. There was some misunderstanding or issue with booking because they only booked 2 of us down so my other friend had to wait 10 minutes to get seated. By this time there were only 2 other people in the salon besides us. Somehow they decided to do my other friends first so I was left sitting in the chair with my feet soaking for about 40 minutes & I could see the ladies rushing to get my friends nails done. By the time they got started on mine the water was cold that I had to ask them to change it. The four ladies working were very unprofessional. They would barely say a word to you but would speak loudly and laugh as they talked amongst each other in their own language. As I got my nails done I became more and more impatient. From the time I walked in the door until I left it took approximately 3 hours just to get a manicure and pedicure! The most frustrating thing was to see a gentleman walk in who seemed to be a regular customer get pampered even though he came in more than an hour after I did. Two ladies immediately became attentive and did his manicure and pedicure for him at the same time so he could get out quickly! When my friends finished they seemed to have a decent job done but the lady who did my nails was absolutely awful and did not really know what she was doing. She continuously kept going over the nail with polish and a number of times she accidentally touched my nail so she had to keep redoing it. When I sat down for my manicure she was rough and was trying to rush to get it done. As soon as I said that I had a Groupon on the phone I would automatically get somebody telling me that they're already booked. I finally got the approval from someone to come in two weeks ago. Pros I can say that the place is clean. Cons I walked in and I was ignored for a good three minutes. So I was basically left standing at the door.... There's not a lot of regular polishes available. I wanted to use an official shellac colour but they didn't have it. They had Gelish and another brand. The staff wasn't very friendly. I went for a shellac manicure and regular pedicure using a Groupon I bought a few months ago. I had to wait at least 15 minutes after my appointed time before I was seated in the massage chair. One of the employees filled the foot tub with water that was too hot and didn't check on me within an acceptable amount of time. She apologized and added cold water but my feet didn't get soaked for as long as I would have liked. I was offered a foot massage and scrub for $15 and accepted. They used a nice-smelling cream and put baggies with wax on my feet that made my skin really soft. I had to point out that one of my big toe nails wasn't filed straight and the employee only partially fixed it, but it isn't that noticeable. None of the 3 employees seemed to speak English very well but they understood not to cut my cuticles and did a good job overall. The place appears to be clean. There is a small parking lot for the strip mall that wasn't too busy. Another reviewer wrote that Nail Bar on 14th didn't do a 'proper' pedicure and I wish they had elaborated on that comment. At another spa that I went to last year the employee corrected the growth of one of my big toe nails by cutting the outer edge, saying that it would now grow out straight rather than curve under the toe. At Nail Bar on 14th I feel that the employees don't know much about foot or nail care, they provide cosmetic services and I don't think that folks can expect too much more than that. The 60 minute facial was really worth the time! I have sensitive skin with acne scars and usually facials irritate my skin -but I was impressed with the results. After 5 days of a crazy busy week at work, my skin was still soft and no breakouts! With aoft music , you can rest from your busy life and felt like a real spa experience and professional service. Worst looking nails I have ever had because the bail technician didn't know how to shape or file or even use shellac. I have so much dust, air bubbles, and streaks. You can't really tell much in the pictures but it looks awful in person. None of my nails were filed evenly or properly. The lady didn't understand what almond shape was and I got nothing even close to an almond shape. Another worker showed her and she still didn't understand. Even after I had a Groupon for shellac mani and regular pedi, I asked how much to upgrade to shellac on my toes and they said $25. That's a complete rip off. Now I'll have to take off the regular polish and go somewhere else to get all my nails done again. Such a waste of money. I would never ever go back nor recommend anyone else go here. Putting that aside, the pedicure felt rushed and the files and tools used didn't seem sanitary. It's the worst mani & pedi I've ever had. The staff was very unprofessional. I said I wanted sq shape (that's what I usually get) and she kept saying I had to have rounded shape. After back and forth ten times, I showed her what I wanted (picture with nail art). In that picture, it's absolutely no way it's rounded. But she kept saying (in rude Cantonese), that's what it is! I was like, to me that's not rounded at all. After filing my right hand she asked me what I thought. I said to her, my thumb nail looked like slanted. She got offended and told me it wouldn't be like this after color (but it was obviously slanted even after coloured). I also said that my pinky nail corners were too sharp and then she filed a bit and said, it wasn't sharp at all. I was like, of course because you have filed it now. I got so pissed and told her you are professional, you are supposed to know what is acceptable or not. You don't have to keep asking me if it is ok after filing each nail. After she said the job done, there was nail color everywhere around my nails. Even She saw me noticed it, she wouldn't even clean it. Color was uneven, edges were uneven. Pedicure was even worse, no shaping or cuticle removing. Basically she just washed and applied color on it. I could have done it myself!! The color wasn't applied evenly or even to the edge!! Overall, service was bad, attitude of staff was bad and most importantly, the job was the worst! Even if it's free, I won't go back again! At this moment, who knows how long it will last. read more

The service was good. Wait time wasn't too bad even though we had appointments. However the reason why I only have 1 star was because the shellac quality was the worst I have ever experienced and started cracking and show little slivers all above the nail on the 4th day. They last about a few days before cracking and peeling. My friend's shellac got so bad the lilac colour turned brown. The one star was given only for the service. Otherwise... the colour choices were not very diverse either. read more

I usually go here for eyelash extensions. They do a great job. They ask whether you want to go for a natural look or for a more dramatic look. They are very efficient. Went for a refill this week. Different technician from the last time but she took her time and did an excellent job. The refill looked even better than the first one. She really layered on the lashes for a thick dramatic look. Like that they work fast. And also unlike other places, no irritation from the glue they use. Used a groupon. Service was friendly and professional. read more

Yes you read right, Shellac manicure and pedicure within 30 minutes. When I told the young lady she was leaving out a lot of spots while doing the pedicure her answer to me was "I know what I'm doing, I do this every day all day". If they were busy I could understand the rush. There was absolutely no one there. I was the only one. I tried asking her to please redo my heels properly she just ran the filer over it once in one spot and that was it. Try as I may to tell her she was missing so many spots the answer was always the same ' I know what I'm doing". I finally got enough courage to tell her nicely how I wasn't happy with the service and she just kept defending herself. At that time I told her I'm just trying to let you know how I feel about the service. I'm a new customer who isn't very happy right now. You have a lot of competition so your service will set you apart but if you don't agree that is fine it is your perogative. I needed to tell you so you could perhaps try to improve business you seem to be happy providing mediocre service so be it. I know I will not be coming again and I will be letting others know. I just got home and now I have a rash on my foot. I'm praying it'll go away. Don't waste your time and money. Trust me it was HORRIBLE. I got a marble-like design, and I really liked the way it turned out. The staff members were also very friendly and accommodating; fun to talk to and offered me water. Streak and blotch central! I got a regular mani pedi. Nail polish option is scarce. My nails turned out insanely streaky, and nail polish wasn't applied evenly. I can see my nail underneath, and the nail file job itself is uneven. There's even a fuzz that found itself a new home in my terrible nail job until I remove the polish. Place isn't the cleanest, people are constantly talking amongst themselves, and one of the employees wasn't willing to honour the free paraffin deal from yelp. Just don't... Go elsewhere. read more

Not offered water or anything . Asked for WiFi she didn't know the password. This is why other salons have repeat customers and are constantly busy. Why waste peoples time in coming here . Back to my regular pedicure spot who r always on point and always happy to see a familiar face back again :) And on the Groupon they have the nerve to ask for generous tips on full Amounts. Pros: Clean salon in a nice location. Pleasing environment and soothing atmosphere. They gave me a wonderful pedicure and a mediocre manicure. Lots of colours to chose from. Cons: Much of the nail polish from the manicure ended up on my skin around the nail. Additionally I found them to be rough with the manicure tools and got a little cut. I also did not like how they rough / sand your nail bed prior to adding the shellac polish. I gave them a try due to a groupon I had purchased. When l went back for my refill which was supposed to be included in my original price and Groupon they charged me the full price again. Passed by this place one day an decided to come in for a manipedi and waxing. I called in beforehand to ask if they accepted credit, and the girl who picked up said yes. When I arrived the first thing I noticed was that there was no airconditioning on during a hot summer day, and I almost turned right back out. But I badly needed to get my nails done for a date later that night, so I stayed because the reviews I read about the place might make it worth bearing the heat. The lady doing my pedi was very nice and professional and she really took care to pamper and clean my feet. But then she had to go because her shift was over. One of her co-workers will take over, she informed me. I expected her colleagues to be of the same manner, but I was proven wrong. The mani was rushed and sloppy, and the lady was eating at the mani table while my nails were drying. And then when I went to pay, they took longer than 5 mins to ring me up a total, and said they can only take cash or debit, when I sepcifically asked beforehand if they accepted credit! Then when I got home, I noticed that the waxing on my legs was poorly done as well as I had patches of hair still left over that I had to fix myself! I honestly do not know how they have gotten such high reviews, or how people said that they have a clean environment when there were at least 3 flies buzzing around because of the open doors and windows. I had an lovely experience here and can confidently recommend it to those who are just looking for a standard, no-nonsense nail salon for gel nails. I made an appointment today for 3:15, calling an hour beforehand. They fit me in without issues. I arrived around 3:10 and got sat down immediately. I wanted a full set of Bio Seaweed Gel Nails with tips. The lady that did my nails took time to be extremely detailed in making sure my nails were filed properly with a drill-bit while also watching out for my thin nails that needed some extra attention. The only little detail I found a bit strange was that towards the end, she skipped using the clear BSG to top off my nails, and used IBD instead. It kind of defeated the purpose of Bio Seaweed Gel, seeing as BSG is a soak-off gel while IBD is a file-off.
