Ultimately, I called to set up an appointment. With tip a 40-minute facial was $50 ($40 + $10 tip). My mother very much seemed to enjoy the experience. However, it's unfortunate that they could not offer any specials or deals. I figured that since they're in the middle of Iowa, they'd have something to offer. But they stuck to their price, which was very middle-of-the-road. We drove from Council Bluffs to visit, but next time I'll find a coupon through Groupon in Omaha and get her an hour-long facial for 30 minutes. At least the salon was nice and clean, and conveniently located in downtown Atlantic.

They sat me in seat 11 which was over an AC unit, it was alright temperatured and I run cold. My nail artist was pretty quiet but the artist and client to my left were chatty and we got to talk. My nail artist had pretty shaky hands and didn't understand what I meant when I said I wanted the line on my ring finger sharper. She made it thicker, but it doesn't look bad. I took my watch off when I sat down, along with my ring, put the ring in my pocket and left my watch on the table by the towel. During the mani I lost track of it and couldn't find it at the end. I asked if they would contact me if they found it. It was from my mother and really important to me. They have my name and number but I DONT LIVE IN THIS STATE so I really hope things work out.

It's the little things - asking about my water temperature, offering something to drink, showing me the controls on the Shiatsu chair massage. I felt relaxed and taken care of right before my trip, which is exactly what I was looking for. I asked if she could give my hands a little shape and polish before I left - she fit that in, too! I knew Christina from Uptown Styles through my sister, who lives nearby. I was visiting over…read moreChristmas and just didn't have time to get my nails done before the holidays as I was flying in from Boston. I called my sister, asked her if she could get us an appointment with Christina here for a Shellac manicure. Shellac is a polish that doesn't damage your natural nail (no filing the tops like gels) and it is UV cured, so it lasts about 10 days to 2 weeks. The Shellac I got here is the best one that I've ever had. She was careful not to get it on my cuticles and did two thin layers of a cheery Christmas-y color. Christina took her time, went over the tip like you're suppose to, and cleaned the top coat twice to get them super shiny. It's been two weeks exactly, and there are two small chips on my pointer fingers, but they are minimal and speak more to my use of my nails to pry stuff open rather than the polish. My main issue is my nails are growing out, so the polish needs redone. My sister sees Christina regularly, and she either has classy looking nails or some fun treatment or glitter for whatever season it is. I wish that I lived closer as this was the best Shellac I've ever had, as well as the least expensive at $20! Next time I'm in Iowa, I'll be stopping back by!

The only critiques I have of the shop is that when I told the gal that I was looking more into gel dipped, she seemed to try to talk me out of it and ended up doing acrylic anyways, which is fine. But it was annoying. Secondly, to get a different style of the shellac it was an extra charge that wasn't disclosed. I didn't care necessarily that it was an upcharge for it, just wish it was disclosed. But outside of those 2 things, it was an enjoyable visit!
