Some familiar Central Thai offerings with an added bonus of fresh NZ ingredients sprinkled in here and there. The locals love it here -- and often recommend it -- plus the owners and workers are outstanding at what they do, therefore I can see why it's well loved. On top of that, the sunset views are a lovely little perk. You'll probably need a reservation for a table even on a weekday but we sat easy enough at the bar for a walk-in and were even offered a table that opened up outside (past sunset and in the cold so we declined).
To elaborate upon the aforementioned incorporation of NZ ingredients, I selected the VENISON Panang Curry (38 NZD) as my main dish. Curry not as much depth though it really wasn't needed since the venison really enriched the dish in a profound way. The venison chunks were tender though I wish it were better incorporated into the dish, not just thrown in. I also ordered a puffed roti on the side which was definitely overkill with the side of rice ordered in addition. Quite crispy though a little greasy, making for a HEAVY and rich meal. I may have gone overboard, whops. Regardless, the filling meal was satisfying. It helped that it was easy to park on the street for free. Also a lovely reprieve from Downtown Nelson. read more
