It was my first time visiting the town of Mendocino, and my girlfriend had suggested receiving massages here but had never been able to schedule an appointment previously. We were in town for the weekend celebrating her December birthday and I was able to secure a lovely couples 90 minute session for both of us. We arrived with time to spare and browsed around at the cute shop merch. Much to my surprise, we were greeted by the boutique owner, Nahara, and she checked us in, asked if we needed anything, and walked us downstairs to the couples suite. I was partnered with Beth; and my girlfriend had Rebecca. I will discuss my massage first, and go from there. Beth - 90 minute massage - Beth was absolutely WONDERFUL. She is like a comforting hug in spring. She was attentive, asked all the right questions as far as what I was looking for or expectations, she listened to exactly what I needed, and off to the table we went. I mentioned that I've had a few bad massage experiences recently (NOT here) and that I really just want a RELAXING (no talking) true swedish massage with fluid movements and NO pointy pressure. Beth actually gave me an extremely comforting massage with Lomi Lomi movements. I would compare her techniques almost to the flow of ocean waves without the turbulence. She would ask about pressure, but did not interrupt my zen with talking. She was patient, kind, comforting, made me feel safe as far as comfort on the massage table, and made me feel so special while receiving this service. My only regret, literally..... is that I don't live closer to schedule with her more often. Thank you, Beth, please continue to be wonderful with clients. Rebecca - 90 minute massage - I can't really speak for my girlfriend about her massage. She said it was good overall. She did mention, as we both observed, that she had all shoes and socks off her feet and was walking around barefoot. It was unnerving to my girlfriend to look down from the face cradle to see her bare feet. Also, the amount of just checking in about pressure points to my partner did overall mildly disturb the zen of my side by side massage with Beth. It was noticeable how seemingly different they are with style, chatter, and overall shoe attire. Afterwards, I followed up back at the boutique office with Nahara about something that had not been noted over the phone when scheduling to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. She proceeded to apologize, provide a percentage off the service price, and subsequently offered us a very decadent chocolate treat that she was offering as a merch purchase at the spa. Just heavenly!! After the last 6 months of sitting in front of Zoom, I was in dire need of a massage, but finding a place I'd be comfortable with during the days of covid is almost impossible..... until I found Nahara! She will ask you to sanitize your hands and she will take your temperature and ask you to wear a mask just as she does. I mean, THANK YOU, for asking, because that made me feel better about indulging in a massage during these times. Her studio in downtown Mendocino is brand new and she has an incredible setup for garden massage! YES, garden massage with water fountain in the back yard. The last time I had an outdoor massage was in Hawaii and this brought me back to happy days. On top of all of this, Nahara is an extremely skilled massage therapist! I was referred by a friend that I believe is friends with the owner of Nahara. My husband and I booked a weekend away and I wanted to do something special so I made us late afternoon massage appointments here. I received a call roughly 2 hours before our appointment to cancel due to the storm. The weather was rough, but if that was the reason then please consider being more professional than 2 hours before the appointment. It was terribly disappointing, but we were able to book them at Sweetwater eco spa and highly recommend it! I hear Nahara has amazing massages, but the customer service was terrible and I was incredibly disappointed with how it was handled. read more

I was one of the "I just don't like massages" people but my wife booked this massage for me and asked me to "just try it". Once again, my wife was right. Nahara listened to what was bothering me and most importantly I felt listened to. I had been dealing with a very stiff neck and shoulders. I left the massage feeling 90% better. I arrived to the studio, and it was lovely. The water feature in the entrance is calming and and the aroma immediately made me feel a sense of calm. Nahara greeted me in a silk mask and screened me for Covid. I was also given a silk mask for my treatment. After i sanitized and completed a screening i was taken to the treatment room which is just as lovely. I chose a warm stone massage. Once I was on the treatment table and Nahara had reviewed my medical screening the treatment began. During this difficult time I wasn't sure I was going to be able to relax. As she began the service I utterly felt the last few months of anxiety leave my body and I was butter in her hands. She found areas that had hurt for so long I thought it was normal. She used warm green jade stones to break up knots in my legs and shoulders. She was gentle and loving. I left the studio feeling light, almost intoxicated. Day two! and we both feel amazing. Nahara is an amazing woman who definitely knows her craft to the T. Nahara as a former pre-medical student + expertise in Chinese medicine + naturopathic healing she definitely knows all points of isolation and healing. She was very consistent with her techniques throughout the entire 90 mins both of the left and right side of our bodies, which rarely happens and kind of annoying lol.
