However, the TECH or medical assistant (blonde lady) that attempted to obtain my intake/triage information, had the most sour attitude and nasty disposition that I have encountered in a long time. I have never in my life, walked out of a doctors appointment. After she started reprimanding me and about her third snarky comment, I had to stand up, tell her this would not be a good fit and walked out. I noticed the general patient population of the this office were quite elderly. I would be horrified if anybody spoke to my grandparents this way. I would literally prefer to go blind, then interact with that woman ever again in my life.

Additionally, he almost overcharged me for services that I'd specifically not wanted. The practice has friendly, professional staff at the desk, and the assistant who settled me in was wonderful. When Dr. Marotto entered, though, he began to put drops in my eyes without asking or explaining what he was doing. When I explained that I was concerned about my severe allergy to a certain chemical in a particular kind of drops, he scoffed at me. Once Dr. Marotto looked at my swollen eyelid and told me how to care for it, he then proceeded to conduct an entire eye exam (quoted billing charge: $250) on me __without my consent__. (I thought he was thoroughly checking my eyelid; the exam was not nearly as comprehensive or as careful as I've received elsewhere.) Fortunately, I'd already told the front desk that I was not there for an exam, and wouldn't pay for one -- but when I told Dr. Marotto that, he suggested that it was my fault because "you asked questions." (I did: about three.) I'm still a bit bewildered by why I was treated this way. I don't expect every physician to click with every patient, but I do believe that, regardless of their field, our health care providers should: 1. tell/ask us before they apply chemicals to our eyes (or anywhere) 2. honor patients' requests to avoid costly and unnecessary procedures 3. encourage questions, rather than blaming patients for wanting to understand what's wrong with them.

Everyone was super friendly and the exams were fast, painless and the technology seemed very cutting edge. I was happy with the service and the results and have made a follow up appointment to keep up on my regular eye health. So I scheduled to go here- and I'm glad I did. Not only did he diagnose that I've got astigmatisms in both eyes (and that my previous appointment a month ago did not catch, nor did they include in my prescription, meaning my glasses were wrong..) but he very clearly told me all about glaucoma and ocular hypertension, before doing the proper testing and telling me that my eyes were looking fine! He was willing to really take the time to show me pictures of whats good and bad, and explain why I had such iffy results at the other office and probably would get that same iffy result whenever I get the test where you get the puff of air in your eye. I feel like I learned a whole lot, and got great care.

But the office manager is an unprofessional bully who makes things up including policies. I was there and in the exam room and had a cough. They never asked me to wear a mask or anything. They kicked me out when I mentioned I had covid diagnosis 19 days earlier (This was 2024 and CDC protocol was WAY less than 19 days to quarantine, my state job mandated me to be back at work for 2 weeks at that point). What I had was determined to be bronchitis and pneumonia. I left and then called 30 min later as husband and I had taken off work so I could go to the appt and have eyes dilated. Was told office mgr left after escorting me out. They could not provide the policy when I asked to see it, and not on their web page either. When I tried to reschedule they gave me a date 18 months out. Yes 18 months which as a diabetic was uncalled for and rude. The largest group of unprofessional scam artists I have ever dealt with. And fyi I would have gladly worn a mask if asked and I have been fully vaccinated. Yes this was from 9 months ago but I didn't post before now due to potential retaliation. I am the same person as EllieBeagle on Google and am not hiding my identity. Intent of review is to let people know while Drs are fantastic be careful as I was not the only person who has been unfairly treated. I stand by my review that I have not ever been that badly treated by a health provider office ever before. And a practice I had been a patient of for years. I cannot ever recommend them!
