I hit up this spot on a whim while my husband ailed from too much fun the night before at a wedding nearby. I swung in for a quick order of beans and rice for him and a taco plate. I loved the little atmosphere and the quick service I received just being a walk-in with a to-go order. It's definitely authentic and you just need to be patient to work through an accurate order. Stopped in on a Sunday, out of guacamole and queso on the appetizer menu. Margaritas were a plus but when the food came out I had to ask for silverware and then napkins. Pretty bland food. Service was atrocious. Waitress was too busy hanging out with her boyfriend at the bar who had ordered in Chinese food. Maybe that should have been my first sign that I swiftly looked over. If they are the last restaurant open some night in rifle would be the only way I return. Margaritas are to thank for the two stars! read more

Authentic Mexican food. Came Into town and enjoyed a decent expensive meal. The prices are little high considering the current state of economy. They have a traditional Mexican market in the back of the restaurant. Ordered chicken flautas with no beans and they didn't give more rice to substitute the no beans making the meal $20 with a drink tax and tip. read more

This a great authentic mexican restaurant. They dont fuss with fancy salsas, but you do get free chips and salsa. We ordered the Vampiro drink and it was big! It was very good, well balanced and a touch of salt. I ordered the chile rellenos and it was delicious. Came with red rice, refried beans, a side of salad with ranch on top, a dollop of sour cream and the fried pepper with green chile sauce on top. My hubby ordered the torta which was a huge sandwich on a bun with lettuce cheese tomatoes. He loved it. The restaurant does look a little bare when you go in, but it was surprisingly good. This is by far the worst Mexican food I've ever had in my entire life. The water even tasted bad. The service also sucked. It took FOREVER to get our food. My chile relleno tasted like it was freezer burnt. Not even sure how that happens. The horchata tasted like no horchata I've ever had, the salsa tasted like tomato sauce and the chimichanga came out wrong twice!!! The 2nd time it had a totally different meat. Oh and the green chili was just canned green chilis so if you're going for something smothered in green chili this is not the place! Needless to say we left hungry. Nachoooooooooo! This place was a pretty good Mexican food casual restaurant, Ate here on a Thursday night, service was good. Their menu is very large with many seafood items and traditional tacos, carne asada, burritos and more. There is not a lot going on in this town dining wise that I could detect. Nachos has interesting tile floors, someone is a tile enthusiast. We kind of came here because I like the movie Nacho Libre and I think Mexicans generally know how to feed people. read more

I love this place, my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. The portions are huge and all is very tasty. I usually do the carnitas, this is a must try. Fried cubed pork served with beans, rice and tortillas. I also have had great tacos, have tried all the different types and all have been wonderful. Drink specials on Fridays is also great. I am waiting to try one of the huge stone bowl soups. Worth stopping in and giving it a try. read more

I love that this is a small and authentic establishment, complete with telenovelas on the television. I've tried a variety of items on the menu but my favorite have to be the Tacos Al Pastor at $2.25 each. One can make a complete meal for under 10 bucks. Had a delicious lunch. Ordered the breakfast burrito with shredded pork. The meal starts out with with chips and very tasty salsa. The meal had two fried eggs sitting top of the very tender shredded pork burrito along with re fried beans and fried rice. I'm not sure what passes as "Authentic Mexican" food in this area, but from my experience, it was average American-Mex at best. The restaurant was clean and the service was OK - up to the point that the food arrived. We ordered the Bracerros de Carnes for two. A single order would suffice for two people. The food was swimming in grease and the flavors were uninspired. It took far too long to get a box, a check, and pay the bill (30 minutes). We had to request service at each of these steps. Oversized portions don't make up for amateur techniques, average ingredients, and poor service. Clearly they were understaffed, and in a small town that is forgivable. But don't let the hype about authenticity in the other reviews fool you into expecting anything more than average American-Mex. If you're wanting hand made masa tortillas, multilayered moles, and mesquite grilled meats, this ain't the place. read more

You get into the restaurant and there is extremely harsh lighting in which you're asked to seat yourself. They bring salsa which probably consists of siriacha and tomato sauce. The food was then brought to our table which was the worst part of the entire experience. The chicken tasted like canned chicken and steak was tough and grissley. Ended up spending 32 dollars.
