I'd easily give a 1000 star review if I could. SMG is a gem of its own, really. Surrounded by small…read morebusinesses, tucked in Morumbi neighbourhood, right behind the cemetery. This hole in the wall wouldn't drag you in due to its simplicity, a few tables outside, small parking lot filled with cars, fluorescent lights, counter deli, and packed with people. Been here twice already and can't wait to go there again. As I'd mentioned before, this place is a gem, it's a mom and pop shop where owner Stephan greets all patrons and his wife takes orders. Why did I took so long to write a 1000 star review for a place like this? Simple, this place deserves a detailed review. Here we go, what did I eat? Glad you asked: Basterma, fresh curd: Have never tasted anything like this! Slices of cured meat with some paprika, rolled on some fresh zesty curd, topped off with pistachios. Got an extra sunny side up egg to enrich this experience. Bottarga: thin slices of cured bottarga. Thought that only the Japanese ate cured mullet roe... My bad! Must love fish, SMG's Bottarga is beautiful. Pungent taste although not overpowering. Esfiha de Cebola: onion sfiha. Two words to describe an amazing morsel of food! Sfiha bread is light and crisp, filled with a cream of caramelised onions, curd, topped with crispy fried onions. All sfihas here good, but this one is outstanding. Kibe Montado: steak tartare, baked kibe, steak tartare, fattoush like salad, fresh curd, crispy fried onions, mint. It's amazing how fresh each ingredient is and how it blends all together. Hans' couscous: Hey now, that's how Stephan calls it! Semolina couscous, prawns, shrimp, mussels, octopus, fish, squid. Just imagine all these fresh seafood cooked in slow simmered made to order with spices, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, than some semolina couscous to soak up all juices... Chocolate Mousse: damn. Semi sweet chocolate mousse topped off with crushed roasted pistachios. Damn. Knefe: ricotta, phyllo, angel hair, preserved apricot. An explosion of textures, softness from ricotta, sweet from apricots, saltiness from ricotta, and lots of crunch! Bolo de Pistache: (Pistacchio cake): pistachio crust, pistachio filling. pistachio syrup. A tad dry with all these pistachios, but great burst of flavour of... You've got it! Pistachio! Can't wait to return! Oh btw, this place is jammed packed, they only take reservations until 1 or 2pm and after that is pure madness, but worth the wait!

This is absolutely the best middle east cuisine in town. You must get there for early lunch…read moreotherwise the waiting will be too long. They don't have many tables. They also have great sfihas for take out.

I was excited to come this restaurant after hearing great things about it…read more Overall I had a good experience. Here is the breakdown: Decor/ ambiance: Very chic restaurant with very classy taste and decor The tables were spaced out decently giving that needed social distancing Covid measurements: They did provide towels to clean our hands Social distancing reinforce Everyone must wear mask unless seated All staff wearing mask and gloves Service Very courteous team and very prompt in the service Food The food was guy. We tried the tasting menu, but nothing blew me away. The dishes were well made, very good presentation but felt like any normal good restaurant with good food but nothing memorable Wow factor It was missing. When I think about Jean George's other restaurants especially in NY, I miss that wow factor in the São Paulo restaurant Overall Despite not having that wow factor or that memorable food, I did had a good experience on a combination of nice setting and service with a good food.

The restaurant is situated inside the beautiful Palácio Tangará Hotel, which is in the tree-lined and mansion-dotted area near Parque do Morumbi. We rolled past gorgeous, classic homes and other five-star hotels as we pulled up to the hotel's gates. Upon entering the dining room, we found that we were the only people there, but this was to be expected given that our dinner reservation was before 8 PM. Most people started to come in only after 9 PM, in accordance with usual Paulistano dining time. The dining room is nicely appointed in a contemporary style and is tastefully elegant without being overdone. We were swiftly greeted by several different staff members, one of whom presented us with the wine list. My colleague and I enjoyed a Franc Beausejour and a Terrazas Malbec. The couvert was a combo of rye, ciabatta, and rosemary foccacia (!) breads with butter and EVOO. Simple but bold in flavor, I liked this dish because the butter was actually spreadable, rather than that very hard butter that never plays well with any bread. We moved on to appetizer salads (Salada de Folhas Mistas), which I have to say is the BEST salad I have had anywhere in the world, hands down. The dish itself was beautifully presented, an explosion of colors. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the truffle vinaigrette, but it was a match made in heaven. The salad also had a great mix of greens and radicchio and was perfectly dressed. I'm still dreaming about this salad! I had the filet mignon as my main dish, and I've been blessed to enjoy this cut at many places around the globe, and this is one of the best preparations I can remember. It comes with truffled potatoes--are you seeing a theme here--but not overdone in the least. Tangará Jean-Georges takes balance seriously while still appreciating bold and complementary flavors. My colleague ordered the organic chicken, which in name is not an exciting dish, but she raved about it. It came with heart of palm and a shiitake mushroom sauce. The whole experience, from start to finish, was excellent. The only sad part was when we had to leave!
